The real satoshi should split his milion bitcoin between the bitcoin foundation , the btctalk and keep some for him before disappearing again , the "saotshi-dump" crypto fear will end then .And bitcoin could have a big push

By leaving them dormant and never spent, they are a donation to EVERYONE that uses bitcoin.
Satoshi understands supply, demand, and decentralisation better than thou.

Also, assuming that EVERYONE knows that Satoshi has ~1,000,000 BTC, isn't it also probable that, being the earliest of Bitcoin adopters, and someone who would have mined the shit out of BTC until at least 2011, that Satoshi would also have a shit ton of coins to "live on" that only he/she/they know of???

What that the address don't exist?
The (doctored?) pic seems to say Anthony Geary, 198 Bruce Street.

There is a 198 Bruce Ave though:

I don't understand why anyone thinks this is even a scandal. I already figured out and posted Satoshi Nakamoto's true identity over two weeks ago. Did you guys miss it?

That's a pretty hefty donation for a forum board owner who would have little to no incentive not to dump over the course of a few years.  IMO remaining anonymous until people give up and silently shredding those keys is the best case scenario (what we have now).

Satoshi should burn his coins by sending them to an unspendable address  - https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn

I doubt this will result in Satoshi being revealed, it's likely a core group of programmers.

However, it might be interesting to see a full record of his correspondence, assuming the image released isn't photoshopped.

You have to wonder only ~1000 emails surely over the course of Bitcoin the account would have received more messages.

LOL it takes zero activity to receive an email.
When burning an ID, you delete all the sent and received email, and let the account sit there, or delete it (but then someone can re-register it immediately)

The email address still exists, and can receive email from all the spammers, journos, and supporters.  These are never seen, never opened.  You just walk away after severing all the ties.

More plausible:  He thought we would be smarter by now than the community apparently manifests as being.
All this hullabaloo to advertise the scammer?  Let it die.

Guys seriously..

this all boils down to a single question..

If the hacker genuinely doxed Satoshi, why not extort the creator of the commodity as opposed to asking for a measly 25 BTC from the community.

Sounds like he is trying to blackmail satoshi into doing just that....pay up, or you go public.

Because this isn't going to happen.  There is some truth this whole thing but mostly it is FUD with smoke and mirrors.

Any chance this is all FUD because of all the good news today for Bitcoin!

Apple striking back ?

I think it's a hacker who owns a large amount of Bitcoin himself and doesn't wish to actually hurt bitcoin, as he could of done truly worse things...like pretend that satoshi was going to sell off his bitcoins which would cause a immense price drop.

If he does own a lot he could also have pretended to be Satoshi and released a message that destroyed the private keys to 99% of his mined Bitcoin. Instantly the price would have spiked up quite violently.

or even better, actually send the coins to a "burn address" Wink

I was talking about the hypothetical situation where the person who broke in is not Satoshi but does possess a lot of Bitcoins. Then he could increase the market price by declaring (as Satoshi) to have deleted (or lost) the private keys to most of the mined Bitcoins.

it would be an obvious attempt to game the market if satoshi just decided to announce that he lost his coins.

Well, he had to wrap it into a nice little good bye letter from Satoshi in which he says he's doing well, proud of the community etc. etc. Make an anti bank statement and then say: as my final gift to the Bitcoin community etc. etc.

I think a lot of people would fall for it and no-one could know with 100% certainty it was not him.

there still isnt a 100% certainty that its not him doing this now. considering no one really knows who he is.

Yea man! Shinichi finally snapped after writing Inter-universal Teichmuller Theory V and went out got hammered with his math buddies then started drunk P2P posting. LOL That's my guess Cheesy
