It goes to show that no one is above the law in Singapore. Singapore is very strict when it comes to implementing it. That's why foreigners there should follow their law even if you are a diplomat.

Even if it was just one stroke, it will deter people from committing similar crimes in the future. It may be over in 2 minutes, but the severity of the punishment is enough to create a fear in the mind of the criminals.

Interesting news, although a diplomat but must get appropriate punishment so that they do not repeat again. I saw the news that he was on vacation to Singapore with his family and did rape at the hotel and reportedly also commit acts of violence. Flogging and prison was the appropriate punishment than just deported. Hopefully, the Saudi government also act decisively against these diplomats.

I don't understand the point in granting diplomatic immunity for foreign delegates, even for crimes such as murder and rape. If they are committing any white collar crime, then it is OK. But granting immunity after committing a rape is insane.

A very good example to follow. This is the case when one law for all without exception. I hate the situation when foreign ambassadors violated the laws of the state in which they are located, and the penalty for that is deportation.
