So, with the exodus of players from the Saudi league, I wonder how long this thread will stay open before there is no one left to talk about. Smiley

I dont know if we can name this as a massive exodus, i think we are in a valley in term of transfer between Saudi League and Europe one, it seems like the Saudi league is gonna be a pool for players to recover his level or make time until other team wants them. So we are gonna see a lot of IN and OUT every market.

We are talking about arguably the two best players in the history of football, driving each other to mental levels. I mean you can call out each other if you are not the fan of the other, but the people with objective eyes can tell you that it doesn't matter if Ronaldo is better or Messi is better, it is not the point, the point is that, no matter which one is number one, those two are the top two in the history of this sport and played relatively during the same period as well, and for along time even in the same league as well.

So, it is clear that we are talking about watching Gods of football, basically playing at their retirement clubs for one last time, no matter how long, I do not think that they will change clubs after this, it is going to be just retirement for them.

It doesn't matter which of Ronaldo or Messi is the best because anyway, based on the fans of them will also certainly say that their idol players are the best. Because yes, I personally very disappointed with FIFA's decision to choose Messi as the best player despite the fact that there are young players in this era who deserve the award like Haaland or other young players like Mbappe or whoever it is or maybe Bellingham. Because after all, if I consider Messi after leaving Barcelona, in fact Messi didn't have big achievements in the next team like at PSG and now at Inter Miami too. Therefore, I think FIFA chose the wrong player in giving this award, because there not great achievements that Messi has at this moment.

the effort to bring Ronaldo to the SPL has the aim of increasing the popularity of the SPL so that it is known throughout the world, even though it is not very well known at the moment, but at least since Ronaldo arrived in the SPL, many european players have joined several teams in the SPL, as I said before, when Neymar said it all started from Ronaldo and finally many European players accepted big offers and started careers in the SPL with the belief that in the long term the SPL would become part of the big leagues on a par with Europe.
the SPL will continue to carry out promotions and all means to improve the quality of players in all teams to be able to give confidence to FIFA and make an offer to be part of the UCL someday as long as they can consistently maintain the quality of the matches I'm sure the SPL will be great.

previously, I never thought that I would be able to come and always be present to see the development of several teams in this SPL and it was all because of Ronaldo and as the season progressed I became aware that more and more people knew about this league and it certainly wouldn't be long before the SPL would become a very big league.
The Saudis visionized the benefit of Ronaldo in their league and ever since his arrival he's helped the league to be a focus for fans too. He was the first international signing for the league and other players have been seeing reasons why SPL should be considered in their next transfers. The league itself are eager to expand more as they have eyes on quality stars all around Europe.

Ronaldo made wave at his first game in the league and he's been doing exceedingly well. Al Nassr recorded a huge increase in the normal of views they have on their social media handles at the instant his signing was complete. No doubt, there's what they call "the Ronaldo effect".Ronaldo a world star helped SPL grow in recognition and SPL are playing their part in ensuring that they keep that track of recognition and focus.
Cristiano Ronaldo alongside Lionel Messi without doubt has been the two greatest players of the last two decades as far as world football is concerned and that's actually earned them a lot of personal accolades and recognitions but when it comes to public influence, it's clear that no one comes close to the Portuguese superstar as he's the most followed footballer across all social media and the most followed human on Instagram in the whole world. The  organizers of the Saudi Pro League knew how much of influence he'll bring to the league should they sign and made sure they did everything within their reach to bring the Portugal national team captain to the middle East league.

Since his arrival to the league, the Saudi Arabian League has gained more global recognition and awareness than they've ever gotten. On the pitch, Cristiano Ronaldo have also been great for the club as he succeeded in scoring the highest number of goals in 2023.

Everyone here must feel the same way as you. Because the SPL league holiday of more than 1 month really feels very long. So we all definitely want the SPL to start again soon. Because it's a bit boring without seeing C.Ronaldo and other European star players not competing in the SPL for 1 month. And I am increasingly curious about Al-hilal and Al-Nassr who have a friendly match against Inter Miami. I want to see the match immediately and see Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo face each other again on the field.

I hope that after this 1 month break everything will change and Al-Nassr will get stronger and can beat Al-hilal.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the face I want to see everyday playing SPL and it's because of him that I've move closer to watching g SPL football and his presence have creates a strong connection with European players and Saudi Arabia. Everything will changed after the holiday. We have clubs that have picked form and we have the ones that would start to struggle to win matches. The Saudi Arabia League is filled with unexpected actions and we have quite the best European players that are hunger to show their best performance.
So, you were here caused by ronaldo. It means that it doesn't matter how many european players were migrated from SPL back to the european leagues again and the popularity from this league will not be affected. There were many people so skeptical with the gone of some european players like henderson. Saudi has unlimited money to recruit another player again. We are only losing a few players which are also involving in so many problems with their own clubs. Im not feeling worry with it.
Saudi pro league will able to perform even better than before with the help of unlimited money. As long as ronaldo was there and he can help league to attract as many players as possible soon. The power of money is real.
SPL can slowly but surely growing up to be one of biggest league in the world.

This should be what is being discussed, not comparing the two players who have above-average quality from other plyers. They have proven it, even they can be a player who can survive in his presence and can also maintain his perfrmance for a very long time, it is not easy for a player to do that, because they will alwasy be faced with physical problems or others, but they can prove that they can do it.
Even now, when they are no longer young, they still have their own charm, especially for the media who want to report on them.
This year, they will be reunited in a friendly match between Al Nassr and Inter Miami, a meeting that will bring back memories of when they were in the same league.

Not until ronaldo will be retiring from al nassr.  Cool
Saudi Professional League needs more than only Cristiano Ronaldo. Like the Ligue 1 thread previous years was like a dead thread compares with threads for discussions on other leagues like Premier League, La Liga and Serie A.

Hendo - Ajax
Benzema - (Potentially)Arsenal
Firmino/Mitrovic - (rumor)Chelsea

If there will be more exodus, and it may be threatening the popularity and trust of SPL. People might be seeing it only one or two probably leave from the league but this is also triggering the distrust from public toward SPL.
It will be another problem for SPL caused by it was still in the process to rebuild its reputation and popularity to be listed as among best leagues in the world.

Im seeing hendo's movement as a negative sentiment to SPL caused by this is also affecting the perception from public. Ronaldo and various transfers from european league have been building the popularity and reputation of SPL.
This is not good for saudi pro league.
Those players seem to fail to adapt to a new nation with many big differences than European nations. From weather conditions (too hot), cuisine and cultural traditional especially they have to live in Saudi Arabia with their family includes their wives and children.

It seems those European star players slowly to recognize that they need to return to Europe to help their family feel more comfortable. It will also be better for education and growth of their children. The latest drama from Benzema can be a first big trigger for those players to return to Europe. Seems like Cristiano and Benzema will be recorded in Saudi Professional League with opposite roles.

I agree that this thread will continue as long as there is Ronaldo at Al-Nassr and in fact several other great European players are not comparable to Ronaldo's popularity and that is why the Saudi league will be fine if Ronaldo has not retired. The arrival of European players who arrived last summer was nothing more than an incentive to make the Saudi league better known and basically they wouldn't have come if there weren't players to prove it.

Even if in the end only Ronaldo survives, it doesn't matter because his influence will always be discussed here, from life, records, to achievements.

Henderson has joined Ajax and Benzema still seems to be the best option for his next club after he decided to leave Al-Ittihad. But for Firmino it seems that he will not leave Al-Ahli and he will stay there, this has been reported by Fabrizio Romano.

In decades, none of us have a clue regarding the SPL clubs but today, we can boldly mention few elite teams in actions and the players who have been outstanding. The promotion of the league have upgraded in all levels, atleast no longer comparable as of the previous season. Saudi Arabia influential men understands the purpose of promoting their league to be comparable to European football but it will take long time. The board knows what they want and they strive in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to their league where he's presence becomes top and essential for everyone.

It is hoped that the peak of investment (PIF) in the development of Saudi football will occur in 2034, when FIFA has officially appointed Saudi as the host for the 2034 edition of the World Cup. Starting with the construction of the Saudi League (SPL) with the recruitment of Ronaldo, which is believed to be the gateway for other top European players play there. It's true, before Ronaldo came to the SPL, many of us didn't know what the SPL was like, how the competition for trophies was, and we never even knew there were clubs called Al Nassr, Al Hilad, Al Ittihad and so on. Al Nassr succeeded in taking advantage of the momentum, recruiting Ronaldo from Man United who Ten Hag no longer wanted, a big leap occurred where the SPL suddenly became famous just because of Ronaldo existence.

To reach a competitive level that is close to the Top European Leagues, of course it takes time, it cannot be achieved in a short time. Even though financially, PIF can easily buy players from any league, it is even believed that PIF can easily acquire any club in Europe. However, this does not necessarily increase the intensity of competition, because on the other hand, only four clubs are currently covered by PIF. The competition at the moment is certainly not balanced, the strengths of the fellow contesting clubs in the SPL are very different, because only four clubs have sufficient strength and squad depth. Over time, it is possible that other SPL clubs will increase their strength so that in the end, there will be tight competition.

In the future, I think it will not only be players who will be recruited, but top European coaches will also likely be recruited. The latest news is that Jose Mourinho is also being linked with a move to the SPL, following the steps of Steven Gerrard, who previously coached Al Ettifaq. I think sooner or later the SPL will gain a place in the eyes of football fans, and with the League image increasing, it will automatically increase the fan base that follows the developments that occur there.

The Saudi League's approach is smart. These famous players are meant to boost the league's profile. Football quality and worldwide attention are both important. I want to watch how this approach plays out and who makes the big move.
The Saudi guys have got a really good marketing strategy and approach as to how they are going to promote their leagues ad get the desired attention because that's what they need if they must make good money from their League, more attention will means more ticket and jersey purchasing power and even investors.

Getting these big European players looks like a strategy to getting attention because these players have made big name in football enough that wherever they are they, they always get good attention from which money can be made, and in order to get these European stars they have to make offers bigger than what is applicable in the European leagues and that way these players without a second taught will join them after getting higher pay is one of the reasons they want to play football.
Of course, the Saudi league has large finances so they can market their league in various ways at their disposal, such as buying many star players from Europe. This will of course attract a lot of football interest who not only watch star players play in the European league but also watch them play. playing in the Saudi league which is parallel to the European leagues that exist throughout the world so that the Saudi league will bring in many investors who will make their league grow and progress significantly.

This is indeed a marketing strategy which is the main reason why the Saudi League recruits big European players because they want a competitive league like the European League with big European players, it can make the name of the Saudi League bigger and because the Saudi League offers are quite high, it makes players European players are interested in coming here and continuing their careers with fantastic salaries.

Indeed. Saudi teams have contributed a lot to help the promotion of Saudi league. They spend huge money to attract players to come to Saudi league. It also surely makes people around the world to watch Saudi league because of many top players there. It is not easy to have a big promotion like this, it requires a lot of funds.

Having many top European players is an effective strategy. Although many of the players are no longer in their prime ages, but their presence makes Saudi league more interesting. The fans of the players will continue to follow where they play. Since the players like Ronaldo, Mane, Neymar, and other top players have many fans, it is not surprising if we see a significant improvement of people to watch SPL.

The Saudi League's approach is smart. These famous players are meant to boost the league's profile. Football quality and worldwide attention are both important. I want to watch how this approach plays out and who makes the big move.
So far, Saudi Arabia is a very rich country and even many European football clubs owners come from that country, but in terms of football, Saudi Arabia has actually been far behind from the European continent and even from leagues such as China, Korea and even Japan before, that's why now it seems like the Arab football federation is starting to look for ways to revive their football, including by recruiting top world star players such as Ronaldo, Neymar and Benzema and I think the steps taken by the Arab football federation have received extraordinary support from the Saudi Arabian goverment so that Arab clubs there is no difficulty in recruiting these star players, if we pay attention currently Saudi Arabian clubs are starting to have many former European league players and I think slowly the Saudi Arabian league will become one of the favorite leagues for football fans like the English league, Spanish league and German league so far.
Yes, I agree too. The planning planned by the federation and clubs in Saudi Arabia is very precise. Because by recruiting world players, the name of the federation and clubs in Saudi Arabia will become increasingly known to world football fans. Even though it costs a lot of money to do all this, it has been proven that using this strategy has a very good impact.

Because in my personal opinion, the steps taken by the Saudi Arabian federation and clubs at this time can be said to be fast enough to make Saudi Arabian football proud. Because if you only relied on local players there, perhaps the name SPL would not be as famous as it is now. Although in the Asian zone, the Saudi Arabian League can be said to have a pretty good record. However, this is not enough to catapult SPL's name on the world stage.

And the football federation in Saudi Arabia, I think is aware of that. So they use the resources they have (a lot of money) to break this. Because as we know, Saudi Arabia is a very rich country. Even the great prince of Saudi Arabia is the owner of Newcastle City. So in that way, I think the world of football in Saudi Arabia will continue to develop rapidly. Because the support from the government is very good. and the football fans there also seemed very enthusiastic.

The Saudis have always done things in the big way in the past and present. anything they involve in and put in their best to produce the most colorful events hosted by them. But they are also the oil magnates so they have all it takes in terms of deposited resources to make heaven out of earth.
They have big budget to grow up their league but they have more than that. They actually have more solid strategies to build up their Saudi Professional League, started with big four in the league through investment from PIF. They actually aim at biggest star players like Cristiano, Benzema, Neymar, even Messi, and they successfully attracted more star players to join like Mane, Brozovic, Laporte, Bounou.

With those players and with their solid strategies, I believe Saudi Professional League will gain big success and actually improve quality of the league and domestic players then their national team in future. We will see it like next 5 to 10 years and I believe this project from Saudi Arabia will not terminate too soon.

Quote
The moment I realized their interest in the football, I knew they will bring in luxury into football and can make top players retire back to their leagues. The SPL has gain momentum now and bigger than other leagues like the MLS leagues. If the SPL continues to go like this they will eventually take many star players back to their league but I know that's not just enough as they need to always work hard and put in more efforts in terms of spending on the marketing and being patient with the growth process.
MLS has a big disadvantage as it is too far from Europe and players from Europe will have to leave their home land and families, play and live at a nation very far from their families. Even it has advantage with religion, language, Saudi Professional League actually can provide better salary offers to European players. Their tax policy is more friendly for foreigners than MLS.
