In the context of fossil fuels, there's some logic in using them up so we're forced move on to another fuel but we risk doing too much damage getting there. There's little logic in stopping from using fossil fuels completely...not because it wouldn't halt the damage but because it's completely unrealistic to assume it would be possible to get people to do that. What needs to happen a gradual change from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

Renewable energy initiatives need money for investment to bring efficiency and scale to the idea. A good portion of that money should come from the revenue generated from fossil fuels.

Over a hundred years ago scientists said they knew everything that there was to know. That was before rockets went into outer space. That was before we had atomic power and cars all over the place. No heart transplants back then.

Why would they think that they have figured it all out now?

It is very difficult to develop alternative energy because people may not be familiar with it, and people are accustomed to using fossil energy. Besides fossil energy can produce more energy than alternative energy. I also hope that alternative energy could one day be developed and began to be implemented in all countries. If this can be developed and began to be implemented I'm sure will help reduce pollution more than 40%.

It seems to me that corporations aren't interested in losing profit. They pay the corrupt officials of the state and impede the development of alternative energy sources. To stop this can only people. Remember that before you get into power candidates go to people for support. You have the power to require them to devote more effort to the environment.

The problem is which I've said multiple times is that people and corporations don't want to address these issues for a multitude of reasons. One of them being that they'd rather just shift it down to the next generation or the next few generations of people as they won't have to face any issues relating to the planet now as the people who commited these acts against the earth will be long dead.

Another thing is that profit and greed drives these peoples, so if they don't need to spend money on saving the planet (regulations) they won't do it to ensure that their bottom line is higher then it normally is. It's really simple what business want, more and more money.

So, we should do it but I highly doubt people will.

Not 100 degrees (Celsius), but it will be at least 0.1-0.2 degrees above the current levels. Check this:

During the last 3 decades, the global average temperature has increased by around 0.6 degrees Celsius. So going by the same trend, the rise will be around 0.2 degrees for the next decade. At first, it doesn't sounds like a lot. But this much change can cause a sharp rise in the incidence of droughts and famines.
