For SC to cost $0.05 it needs to have market cap 1 billion 440 millions. Which means it will be right next to XMR and ETC. Is this possible? I am pretty sure it is.

the thing is that with so many new coins appears, this project is getting less and less attention. sia should be a decent project for the long term, I think it will have a decent future.

Sia just went up way too fast https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/siacoin/btc
so it is usual for it to have to fall as well. Frenzy moment now, when the dust settle, this will look promising again

I thought about the supply "issue" all week. Here is what I think:

1. SC has to be of certain value, otherwise the Sia developers and Siafund holders make no money.
2. SC value rises -> more coins are produced -> but people never mention that coins CAN BE BURNED -> so price either stablizes or increases. No worry about perpetual price decrease.

Burning coins doesn't make sense with Bitcoin, because there is a finite supply.
It only makes sense to burn coins where there is an infinite supply; death and birth of new coin. This consequently doesn't affect value.

Lets think of it this way:

1 coin in -> 1 coin out

1 coin = $5

In theory, there actually IS a supply limit.

There are many possible ways of "correction" or "balance":

5 coin in -> 2 coin out
5 coin in -> 8 coin out

Total coins in/created/mined: 10
Total coins out/burned/destroyed: 10
Total increase/decrease in supply: 0

Boom.

So what is the supply in this case? It would be 10, since we've reached a maximum creation. Now obviously in reality it will be WAY higher than that, but you get the idea.

I am going to have to write an article, because people seem worried about these "competitors".

Let me just do a quick summary, ok?

1. Filecoin does not exist and will not for 3 more frickin' years? Wow...have fun with that.
2. MaidSafe is trying to be too much at once. It is trying to do CPU sharing, storage sharing, and a few other things. The development is also ultra slow, and bogged down by office politics.
3. Storj is centralized, and basically dead. Filezilla integration was a last "hurrah". I looked at their code for that integration, it is not rocket science. All Sia needs is another Bounty  for this integration and bam, suddenly in-your-face to thousands of employees and students.

Who else we have?

4. Shift - not a direct competitor. Interesting is they use IPFS, so this will allow for temporary, fast storage, but not better safety than Sia. I can see this actually complementing Sia.

I think that's it.

And Sia? Well it has everything going for it.
1. Proven technology
2. Agile development team
3. Strong community with great people to explain how things work
4. Truly decentralized
5. Network security in the coming months with Obelisk
6. Integrate-able with MANY services. Imagine if you see an integration for GitHub? Facebook? Google Drive? Holy...See you later, I'll be on Cloud 9 while the rest of these day traders are on Poloniex sweating their money away.

Exactly.

Nice points you got there sir. Sia has really got it all when you come to think of it. Also, if its any consolation, I believe some of the team are from Harvard as well. Now all they need is time.

Anyway, looking forward to your article. Congrats in advance to us sia hodlers!

x 16 since march 2017 in BTC
=
x 30 in fiat in only 4 month

Is this not enough for the moment ... ?

agree, sia coin is one of the coins that perform really good since 2017, the correction may happen, but should be a good long-term investment choice.

If bitcoin stay at 4200 or 4000 $ then might be SC will start pump up soon but the problem is Bitcoin still rising and rising so most altcoin effect due to bitcoin .. let wait sometime might be some good news after August or last week of the week

Don't you guys think enormous supply of SC will badlu effect its possible growth? I love everything about this coin, especially after having read this thread, but supply is really really huge...

I agree, but the same was with XRP and other coins.

I feel the whole thing is going to be more on the development of the coin and there-for will be good investment and attract a lot of attention.

People are mining for a reason they know that this will grow and it doesn't always depend on the Marketcap and supply.

Do you know any reasons why SC price keep going down? Is it good for long-term investment? I like this project but about SC coin, I feel doubting about its future

I bought SC at 12 sats on poloniex and sold at 400 sats, the fall on the SC price have a lot to do with the current btc price, the drop affects a lot of altcoin and not only SC even Doge have lost some value greatly.

This might be corrected once btc price become stable.
well who thinks that the value will jumped to that high but we witness it before and for sure it will repeat itself just better to keep holding
and try to buy more when you see more dip and just wait till the price pumped up again.

Don't start bringing logic into this discussion. The SC groupies don't want to hear it. ASICS are coming out soon and SC already has 60 bajillion-famillion-tragizillion coins. These coins can't possibly increase in value much or the market cap would skyrocket. The only way you're going to make good profit on this coin is if you hold 6 million or so coins.  Shocked

Ohh got to love the jump from 150 Siacoin Satoshies to 220 Siacoin Satoshies!

That jump went from - to profit in no time. With the Rise of Bitcoin the overall price is staying stable of investment anyway.

I can't wait till Siacoin goes back and goes over 1000 Satohies and hopefully by that time, BTC will be worth 6000USD+. Meaning almost 500-800% Profit from investment for me Cheesy! ^_^ Happy days

Yes, I understand what you were thinking - that's usually the way these things go. "Im not giving away free cash", are you saying this because you don't believe in paying someone for putting their time into something? It isn't free if I'm working to earn it, haha.

Anyway, I will do it regardless solely because there are tons of these types of threads, and a simple link will help rid of them while spreading some good news.

No worries Smiley
