In such a saturated market, many are rightfully becoming wary of ICOs that are promising to deliver a revolutionary product without even a modicum of proof. Even so, many are willing to invest in obscure tokens with the dream of striking - black gold or should we say – block gold.

Knowing what to look for when evaluating the potential viability of a brand new ICO is key in avoiding scams aimed at defrauding investors. Remaining calm in the midst of the ICO storm and doing your own research is paramount. Be critical and ask yourself a lot of questions.

Be critical, use common sense and explore any new venture from different angles . This can help you avoid getting swept up in the moment, making poor decisions and help you determine whether a project is legitimate or not.

There are a lot of Scam projects, and while the ICO is not regulated by the relevant authorities, they will appear and appear in order to raise funds and disappear. You just have to learn to recognize these projects. Analyze technical documentation in detail, look at the ratings of the team to study the idea of the project and so on.

Fraud is everywhere and we must always be careful.

Be sure to read the white paper, know the ICO team, and access the cable information when selecting the ICO.

It really is hard to believe that there are some ICOs who are intended to scam people. There are all hypocrits and rely on the weakness of people especially those who are new to bitcoin. So sad.

Scam coins everywhere ==> Exactly. My friend lost 2 ETH, maybe he was exposed private key.

Careful learning is always needed.

I think we should be used to this. It is part of human nature to try to abuse all those unwary who cross their path, especially in a business that has attracted many people without knowledge or previous experience in this subject.

Unfortunately many of these naive investors can only learn through these bad experiences, and that is why a more rigorous regulation is urgently needed to prevent this innovative business model (ICOS) from being used massively as a means to defraud people, losing credibility in a business model that could be very useful to fund real and legitimate projects.

This is part of our society, you must need to know how to dance with them. Be wise and be observant in everything you do in terms of investment in order not to put your money into risk. Better to talk someone who's professional in cryptocurrency or ICOs.

With the recent released reports of Australians having lost over $2 million in investments from Crypto scams during 2017, isn't  that a signal that there should be even a small amount of policing a few criminal aspects of Crypto or at least Crypto criminal education about scams etc?

We cannot guarantee that the ICO or programs that we participate are fake or failed or not. What we must do is analyzing the progress and the project. It will be meaningful to be able to differentiate the true coins and the fake one.

I think for beginners, it is advisable to understand the whole ICO explanation from the understanding of reading white paper, getting to know the ICO team, and accessing information about telegram.

maybe it's not a scam you just do not see any updates on the altcoin project there may be a new token creation, or it could be because ico does not reach the sofh cap so it is not listed on the exchange and will hold a new ico with the new altcoin too!

Yes, deception is always there, so it's best to search Google for the heat of the project when choosing an investment and avoid the scam as much as possible.

I think 90% of the coins especially the new ones are scam. They basically just there to do an ICO and collect money from the users.

You should gather relative information about the project and do your own research.
There are many Telegram groups or forums you can learn from other people.

If we are a beginner, it is very difficult to avoid the ICO scams. However, if we have analyzed more ICOs and understood the team, we can differentiate them. First is about understanding the team behind the project and cross-checking them in their social media whether they are really involved in the project or not. Then, we must know their readiness to make the project by analyzing the concept of the project, presentation to be in the whitepaper, and the community of the project. There are still some other ways to analyze the ICO scams or not.

I think somewhere on the forum there should be a thread with a discussion of how to determine a Scam or not, I've seen it before but can't remember where.

Most of us lose money because of scammers, not failed coins. Unlike real life, scammers will never be punished. This is also the reason many people hate crypto. If newbie joined this market, they have to accept being cheated at least once. Experience from it is precious, it will help them understand the cruel reality of cryptocurrency.

I guys of course not all-seeing but in my cheating is everywhere, just like in cryptocurrency. Just not everyone gives it some great importance. And you need to fight this and start with yourself, saw that the coin is strange, you say.
