I can understand Scrypt.cc's reasons for wanting to remain fairly anonymous, but its also a factor against me investing a significant amount in their site. I appreciate its still in "beta" and so far they have been pretty honest in their approach, however I would suggest they have to take steps to disprove the "Ponzi" accusation if they want to go mainstream. Which really means proving they have the hashpower they claim to have - anyone have any suggestions on how they can do it?

Perhaps announcing a list of coins their pool will mine for 24hrs, along with the deposit addresses with signed messages to verify ownership? The blockchains for those coins will then show which blocks they mined and comparison with the overall network hashrate for each coin would give a pretty good approximation of Scypt.cc's total hashrate.

They aren't anonymous, they are in Brazil.   The Admin has offered to give tours to people if they visiting in the area.  He has also clearly and many times explained why they don't publish the coins they are mining.   That is their edge and they don't want other pools following them.   This is a mining operation and profit is what it is all about.   However when the Admin is online he will tell you what they are mining if you ask.   In the past he has also provide addresses of many of the cold storage wallets used.

There have been discussions about other less invasive ways to provide proof of their hashing power.  Such as just mining a chosen coin for 20 minutes.   (TheRue's plan)   I don't know if that will happen or not.

The best evidence is just talking with them.   Also being paid every ten minutes!   Actually over time there is a wealth of evidence that everything is real.   For example when payouts have been lower I have found that must multipools are also having problems.

Finally the site has been up almost 3 months and it has been dealing honestly with customers.   If that isn't enough for you, then fine.   You have to decide the level of risk that you can accept.     For me there are two main points of risk:

1) There seems to be only one Admin that speaks English well.   I wish there were more at the site.
2) The market is still very small, so it is hard to sell a large amount of KHS very quickly.

"Let's just hope for the best."

That pretty much sums up my experience with BitCoin investments over the last 8 months ..

Triff ..
That, unfortunately, is so incredibly true, Triff. That is my biggest disappointment in the entire crypto money thing. It's supposed to bring new possibilities but it has brought an incredible and growing amount of bullshit as well. Someone else said it also on this forum: the first experience a lot of people have with Bitcoin and altcoins is a scam. If anyone wants to bring crypto out of the dark corner, much more effort is needed.

But... dark shit doesn't apply to scrypt.cc of course. They'll be back. Soon®  Wink

I guess that being scammed is part of the process required to become an experienced user of crypto currencies.

Fortunately so far I've been scammed only once (in bitcoinera.net) and I couldn't say I wasn't expecting that.

Only time I have been scammed was Leancy, but I was already on profit from there.

Admin ..

Thanks for the update ..
Lot of folks' faces were turning 'blue' in here ..
Large collective sigh of relief ..

You might want to consider placing a sizeable bid for some KH/s when the site comes back live again ..
Human nature being what it is, I suspect that a few nervous holders will be liquidating asap ..
It would be a 'good faith gesture' on your part and avoid a potential disorderly exit ..

Triff ..

it would be nice to see the new platform unveiled after this downtime; it's supposedly fixing a lot of bugs, but no notification and no updates on what is happening, is not making me feel comfortable about it all.
Exactly. So, fine, the scrypt.cc people have always had a mind of their own and have followed their own priorities and simply refused to give an estimate date of things to come to avoid missing promised dates and subsequent disappointment, but taking the site down without warning or notice isn't exactly comforting in any case. Let's just hope for the best. It's the only cloud service I actually like, a lot.

Actually they used to give approximate times, but they kept missing them, so they finally just started using "soon".

No reason to believe it is a scam.

Are there any evidence that datacenters with miners are really exist? Photos of the rigs, evidence from some pools, found blocks in some coin blockchain, anything at all? I've failed to find something. I really hope it is not a scam: I've just completed a helper application for scrypt.cc and have wanted to share it in several days.)

no evidence whatsoever.

we all hope the site not going to scam
thats all i know
