Umm.... Not quite the right thread. This is for Scrypt.CC, the better cloud mining investment. Feel free to sign up  Tongue

But yeah, bit-mining is crapping up hugely. I'm not losing much, never invested much but instead send most of my coin into scrypt.cc, but I hope things will work out still. I still think lack of technical skills are at the basis of the misery. Both scrypt.cc and bit-mining.co were heavily attacked at the same time. Scrypt.cc stayed up, safe and well and even improved, and bit-mining.co went down and has been struggling since.

Anyone know if the site is vulnerable to the HeartBleed exploit and if so has it been patched yet?

You are a week late for a question like that!   However they weren't at risk when I checked.

update: my account was audited last night and referral earnings credited.
all is well. Having spoken to the OP; I believe scrypt.cc will have these bugs ironed out when they launch the new platform.

How did you notice the audit ?
Did you receive any messages ? or simply your bitcoins amount ?

i caught Admin on the scrypt.cc chat and she/he initiated the audit there and then. my account still has the bug, so I will need to request a second audit - unless the new platform is launched (I have been advised that the new platform will rectify all bugs and problems.) and yes, I received the correct BTC, in one credit - which i reinvested in more KH/s.

Nice price comparison, but the site that offers the cheapest hashrate isn't automatically the best option. What it comes down to is what people are willing to pay, and prices at scrypt.cc are not dictated by them, but are a result of the members buying and selling hashrate. Prices too high? Then wait for them to drop.
Scrypt.cc's features are perfect for me and none of the other sites offer the same options and freedom. Besides, I've already invested in scrypt.cc and at this moment the total value of my hashrate is twice my investment thanks to reinvesting profit. So, for me scrypt.cc continues to be the best deal around.

Hope you get your issue resolved raskul. The continuous ponzi remarks are already bad enough without more negative publicity.

Let's compare Scrypt.cc to three other popular scrypt cloud mining options focusing on cost per kH/sec mining power, using the current bitcoin price of $415:

  • Farm$hares equal to 5900 kH/sec would cost $1119. Cost per kH/sec: $0.19
  • GAW Miners is offering a 5200 kH/sec Gridseed ASIC blade miner for $1610 with free hosting for a year. Cost per kH/sec: $0.31
  • Scryptsmining.com shares equal to 5200 kH/sec would cost $1841 for 87 shares at bitcoin price of $415. Cost per kH/sec: $0.35
  • Scrypt.cc shares equal to 5200 kH/sec would cost $3213. Cost per kH/sec:$0.62

Wow all those web sites look terrible Sad

Gawminers is probably the nicest...

FarmShares - Out of Stock and limited to LTC & FTC, good luck with that.
Gawminers - Is point at your own pool and probably will have very little value in a year since it is ASIC and limited to scrypt
scryptsmining.com is a known scam site.

Farm$hares is fully legit and continue to be the best deal around for hosted scrypt ASIC mining, one third the cost of scrypt.cc. If shares are not in stock check back. When they are listed they sell out quick.

Scryptsmining.com is not a scam, just not as good a deal as Farm$hares. Still half the cost of shares at scrypt.cc. Anyone can spread FUD, smart miners take the time to research the competition before investing.

As I said before Farm$hares limited to scrypt only.   It looks like they actually just mine LTC and FTC but I don't have an account there to be sure.

I been told that scryptsmining.com is a scam, but I can't find a thread on that here.   In any case it too is only scrypt because they are using the Gridseed ASICs.

scrypt mining is not the same as scrypt-N, scrypt-Jane and scrypt mining.   ASICs are going to push the hash rate up and profits down on the coins they mine.   So you are not comparing the same types of things.

It looks like all posts in the scrypt.cc forum go into moderation now. Hopefully gets rid of the crap spam, but also could make the forum not nearly as useful.

anyone over there experiencing the same 'bug' on referral earnings as me?
i'll be writing an article for publication, on the matter this evening.

The referral earnings is a known bug, every now and then somebody complains, but that it's a known bug doesn't mean it's happening all the time to everybody. Working for most people.

so... anyone out there able to give me an ETA of a fix and audit on my account?

It's true that ASIC hardware will net you more kH/$, but part of the attractiveness to cloud mining is that you don't have to deal with logistics (e.g., cooling), or electricity costs. In the case of Scrypt CC, they take 8% from your earnings - 5% goes to the person who referred you (SCC keeps the 5% if you didn't use a referral link), the other 3% for overhead. 8% is considerably less than the overhead for a GPU farm, and just a little bit more than that for most ASICs. In addition, reselling used hardware is a pain and the resell price will necessarily be much less than the retail; cloud hashes are much more liquid, and can even appreciate, although I'm thinking the price will naturally inflate as the supply of hashes increases (especially with the onset of Scrypt ASICs and Scrypt-centric data centers).

Actually the biggest benefit is they are not locked into just mining scrypt.  Currently they are also mining scrypt-N and I think scrypt-Jane.   The problem with buying ASICs for scrypt is that soon you will be locked into the same declining yield curve that bitcoin is in.   GPUs are more flexible and scrypt.cc has affordable power.
