Trading requires a lot of experience as I say because it needs also skills which may be in the form of thinking, analyzing and to go through the loss too sometimes but there should be some cover for each trader, whenever he make loss that cover supports him, that's in my opinion trading makes easy for the trader.
Technically trading is not easy though having the right knowledge can bring you more good fortune in trading that’s why its very important to keep on learning about trading, so you can be good which you can be use for the rest of your trading journey. Having Bitcoin is everything, so better not to sell for now just to get altcoins you can buy some altcoins but don’t sell BTC, its pretty cheap now.

Instead to plan selling off bitcoin because you want to buy some altcoins is not a nice step. Bitcoin is more trusted to invest into. You can instead of that do the reverse by selling your altcoins to buy bitcoin. You know bitcoin will rise with time but altcoins can disappoint. Again you need to know the altcoins community you are investing into some are not functioning while some are relying on being hyped.

I don't think it's a good idea. When the price of Bitcoin drops, most alt prices will also go down and indeed the price of Bitcoin greatly affects the market. If you really want to invest or trade alt then from the start we can buy Alt in addition to buying Bitcoin. So we can buy both without having to sell one of them. Choose an altcoin that has good prospects so that it can make a profit. Bitcoin and altcoin investments will be equally profitable depending on how we manage the assets that we have.
Well, its always expected since bitcoin still dominates the crypto space and whatever its price will always leave a huge impact on altcoins. If you can have all the means to buy bitcoin and altcoins at the same time, then why not? They are both profitable so they deserved to be kept and hold.

However, if you don't have enough money to invest in altcoins, then maybe selling a part of bitcoin is not a bad idea at all. The fact that you are doing this because you want to accumulate more profits in the future since more investments will mean more profits, so definitely there is nothing wrong with it.

If you can keep bitcoin the whole time, that will be a great advantage. But for some who have limited funds, if they have huge number of bitcoin, i think it will not be a loss if we can sell a small portion of bitcoin so we can also grab the chance of buying altcoins. Because not all times bitcoin is the most profitable, there are really times that altcoins will exceed the profits from what we expect from bitcoin. So its never a bad idea at all since you can diversify now your investments.

Many consider investing in altcoins for the sole purpose of directing the money earned to buy bitcoin. The best solution in this case would be to trade altcoins in a pair to bitcoin. But this type of trading will be profitable only if the market is bullish.

Would only be worth if you do go for long term if you do accumulate bitcoin as much as you can without considering other alternatives like on accumulating altcoins.Prices arent really correlated from time to time
which means it could neither go along the way or would go to opposite ones but we cant really deny that Bitcoin is the trend setter and this isnt something that you could avoid off thats why investment
decisions isnt something easy to be done due to unpredictability of the market. Neither price could go along with or not and it all depends with various market conditions and reasons.

Bitcoin- in bullish time
But for me, bitcoin is my top choice and i can see that its the most profitable coin in the long run so there's no way that i will sell it so i can accumulate more altcoins too. I'd really love to have some potential altcoins too but i will not sacrifice a single bitcoin for it.
Not all people still have the capital to buy coins right now. Some people need to sell their coins to buy another more potential coin. Of course, we mustn't sell all our Bitcoin, but selling a small number of BTC for potential altcoins seems a nice idea. Not all crypto assets are planned for a long-term target, some coins are targeted to sell for a short-term target. Altcoins are the best option if someone wants to earn profits faster. As long as can analyze which one is the best altcoin to buy, and know the right time to buy, I think nothing wrong with that idea.

They save some and still sell them in the future. That is why we can't urge people to keep hold of their Bitcoin, they might have the idea that selling them for Altcoins is worth profiting. Yeah, we can't disclose such a possibility as we know that market that some altcoins are also profiting. They simply take the chance while some potential altcoins are cheap, that I think they after, and I never find it wrong.
I just hope that they can still be patient as altcoins will not going to recover as fast as Bitcoin does.

Those who are still holding Bitcoin in large quantities in their portfolio are really trying. As the market is falling we should endeavor to get altcoins which has strong management team and unique liquidity to scale through when the market recovers. This is the best time to keep buying as the . market goes down, not just a single project but different one.
It will be surprise that those who is hodling Bitcoin up this time will be of advantages because the chat of bitcoin downfall is showing that bitcoin falling is not strong compares to some other years that bitcoin will fall from high point to the closet to three to Two years price, when it started falling my instincts goes directly that bitcoin will reach 30 thousand to 29 thousand before it will retrace the market, so the falling put fear to the faces of investor, but like since yesterday  is not going below 40 thousand which there is hope for people who is hodling Bitcoin

Absolutely right. Of course, if we can still keep bitcoin to hold for long term, i think that will be very profitable in the end. But if you think your plan is better than just simply hodling bitcoin, i mean if you can do good trading with potential altcoins, then that will still be profitable. As long as you know you are good about about it and is capable to multiple your profits, then selling a small portion of bitcoin in exchange for altcoins will definitely work in the end.

I'm new at all this but I've been filling my head with bitcoin news lately and things sound a bit dire... uh, bearish?  Still learning the lingo.

If I have a little bitcoin, small time stuff here for you high rollers, but it's 4x my initial investment now, and I'd like to get into other cryptos and learn trading and coding dApps with them...
wouldn't it be a good idea to sell some bitcoin to be able to do that?

It seems like the logical thing to do. But, I'm new to trading and wow it's more complicated than coding. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Don't you have any other to discuss here huh? I've seen this several times and saw it already this topic by different author.
And a lot of the community actually are doing this a couple of years also and now your telling it here again, and again.
You know what, the better thing you can do I guess is make your research about the things you wanna know here in the
cryptocurrency.

I know it's always better if we can diversify our portfolio as much as we can, but selling bitcoin just to enter in a more risky investment which is investing in altcoins, i think that won't work for me. I have been struggling in the past just to own bitcoin and now that i have it already, i won't never sell it at a very low price. I think i will have more chances to buy altcoins when the market will fall even more, so i think i will only wait for that time.

The main concern also here is that the OP is quite new to this market.
So right now, would be hard for him to spot valuable alt projects because it would take time and experience before you spot one.
The better thing to do right now, is observe the market, and do your study with these popular alts, assess their potential in the market.
Hold to your btc for the moment. And once you are quite confident with yourself, and learn more about the value of investing alts, then, you can slowly diversify your portfolio.
Better stick to alts that have tangible use case or application rather than new alts that are still promising to deliver their goals.

I would say do not sell anything. If you could find some more money then go ahead and do whatever you want to do but I would not sell anything. The basic reality is that life is not really that simple and sometimes we can't find more money, but the risk of losing from one side and going to other side and losing there as well is too big and there is no need to do that.

I personally prefer to be in a situation where I get into things with brand new money that I save instead of doing a trade between them and having to be forced to pick one or the other. At the end of the day market goes up and down together most of the time so the difference shouldn't be that big for most big coins.

When it comes to logical decisions then it would really vary with you because its your money and your own input or views then its up to your choice whether you do consider on putting some investment in bitcoin or would be totally trusting on dealing with altcoins. Price correlation cant really be avoided for us investors on not to look at but i would say basing up with real experience that everything could really be in random because neither
it would go along with each other or would go totally opposite path on each other. Sometimes they dont really make out some reactions if one coin is dipping down but one things for sure that
whatever trend Bitcoin is taking then expect that the whole market would really be doing the same.

Once a man, twice a child!
Well, it's "the logical thing to do" if you've got yourself equipped for the trading task. It's not just enough to trigger a trade but doing it at the right low for buy will enable one maximize profit. I know of people who sold off their Bitcoin to buy certain alts and those alts turned shitcoins and it was cash gone down the drain. If OP feels Bitcoin is going to dip and they're looking for a safe Haven for their investment but don't have trading set skills, I would advise that it's better tethering it rather than trading and expectedly losing it.

If you think logically, then in principle you are right, but in practice it is not clear how the market will behave, it can go up sharply and your positions will not be so positive. I think that, of course, it is necessary to sell a part even when he was 50, then just buy.

Each of us has some strategy, we are all getting in and out from the trades almost all the time, it's like normal for all of us crypto enthusiasts! Of course, the market makes turns and we don't know what's coming next, so it's a constant trader's dilemma what is the best thing to do! I am making investments in some alts, but only for the long run, I think that majority of people who are selling BTC to buy alts for quick profit will have losses because of that!
That seems straight to the fact that only BTC is more reliable than these altcoins. And perhaps, I'm done and I sell some of my Bitcoin for altcoins but you are right, they are no long-term investment, they easily give up and give us losses in the end. Maybe this will work for a short-term investment, may the hypes give us hope for a profit while having these altcoins but can't make people stop, they simply have their choice just like we did.
