Actually it depends on market situation. Yes you can sell your Alt and can hold btc because btc is pumping and Alt are dumping now. So you can sell and re-buy back after going to more dip. But I Don't think high ranked Altcoin should sell. Because High ranked like Eth and ltc can make huge pump suddenly with btc.
Well, that be an option and you're right, depending on the market situation. If we saw profit in Bitcoin compared to altcoins, why we have to lose this opportunity? At first, we want to increase our funds and diversifying of our holdings will give us chances to make money than to stay in altcoins forever. And I'm glad to do it if ever there is an opportunity.

Sending all your currency for only the Bitcoin investment is little bit risky but if it was grow in the future then the decision made by you is totally outstanding and your future will be good like your expectation but it if it was not developed you will be like same how you can be in the current situation and also the future.
i wouldnt do that now. especially nowadays bitcoin looks like in uptrend and priced. but altcoins are still very undervalued. it doesnt sound good to sell the cheap things to buy an expensive thing. isnt it?

It is true, therefore it's not wise to go all in with bitcoin. Bitcoin although the most popular in the market, it gained lots of attention and it will be pump first when the market is good, however, altcoins with great potential, you will probably make good profit when time comes it will pump.

selling altcoin for bitcoin I think it's a good choice, especially if the altcoin you have is a potential one. maybe this can be your advantage and can get profit from bitcoin. try to be more selective in choosing potential coins
Usually when bitcoin is going up, i sell my altcoins to get more bitcoins. If the technical analysis shows that bitcoin has started to go down then I convert it to usdt before I go back to buy altcoins again. It is important to use trading tools first before buying and selling any coins, the tools may not always accurate but they still help me a lot when comes to trading. There are also some altcoins like bnb that starts rising everytime the binance announces another IEO, so it is good to buy on it and sell it before or after the IEO.

If bicoin pumps some altcoins will also pump so if you have both of that coin then you can earn a very good profit, diversify if possible and hold only potential coins.

Bitcoin is the best investment in the crypto, but I suggest people divide the money to invest in several platforms. Bitcoin price is growing and altcoins are dumping now! This is not the new thing after several days later, the altcoin will start pumping too! So, it is better to invest 70% in Bitcoin and the rest of the money for other good coins!
Bitcoin is the number one, certainly, but why should you sell all altcoins to invest the money in Bitcoin? The portfolio must be diversified. You can have over 40% of BIT there, and the rest should be good tokens like Ethereum, NEO, NEM.
Personally I will do this and I did this before as well but now now some of ethereum and Bitcoin no other cryptocurrencies I guess in my portfolio. Because investing and the best cryptocurrencies is always the best decision then investing on the new project with the hope of getting better like the best cryptocurrencies and I am also don't have enough patience to wait for a normal coin into the best.

I don't sell all altcoin right now because the price does not increase significantly and I still want to wait for a while. I am sure the time for the altcoin to increase will comes soon, and I know that the trend will change into the bull market. In that time, I am sure that many potential altcoins will get high and mostly, the coins which are in the top 100 coins list will increase too. The next coin list will have the same opportunity to increase, and I think the position in the coinmarketcap will be change.
