Accounts are free to open and use, if anyone is stupid enough to pay for mine, il happily take their money lol

Once you revealed you are selling, you will get very low amount. Nobody is stupid enough to pay full price for this.
I didn't want to sell it anyway, I don't want to help  facilitate anyone rip someone off but if I was offered decent money for it I wouldn't say no....

I like my username though, so that alone would make me keep it unless I got at least 0.3+ btc etc

I don't believe account selling should be permitted in general but since there's nothing we can do about it...... If you can't beat em, join em!  Smiley

That wasn't the point. The point is nobody will be 'stupid' enough to buy it if it receives negative feedback.

I think his point is it won't be worth anything once it is tarnished with negative feedback for being a sold account, so that's why people usually create new accounts to sell and do the deals behind closed doors etc.

I know account trading is allowed here for a reason, but is it a good idea for you to facilitate such trade? Sad

Then what's the problem? I'm merely stating the truth about what usually happens and trying to give this guy advice so he doesn't stupidly ruin his account.

I don't care, it's an established account with a few hundred posts, if it's worth anything I'll sell it and open a new one

Gives a fuck, who?

Fuck it then, if we're selling accounts consider mine for sale too then  Smiley

Same price as the others are charging  lol

Thats very foolish of you. Everybody now knows this account is going to be sold and it will get hegative reputation. You are not going to get any close to the prices.

How would newcomers tell how trustworthy an escrow was? How long someone has been around is very relevant especially when you factor all the other different parameters you propose to get rid of. Age or number of posts etc doesn't equal trust by itself but when you factor in other things like the trust system it gives you a pretty good idea of who you can and cannot trust. If everyone was on a level playing field from newcomers to long-time trusted Legendary members it would be a nightmare.

To improve security I would suggest that staff or theymos  either do the escrow or get real life id and collateral   from anyone running any kind of business from banking, investment and ponzi schemes.... And give them some commission to make it worthwhile etc

In layman's terms, anyone who's holding the coins of the community for any reason should be held more accountable than what we have now

I'm guessing most staff and even escrows wouldn't be comfortable providing ID, nor do staff moderate on scams anyway. Staff shouldn't be blindly trusted either and I'm surprised you're suggesting this. Staff is just a rank and doesn't necessarily make them anymore trusted than someone else. Providing ID or other documentation isn't a guarantee of anything either as 1) they can easily be faked 2) they would give people a false sense of security - people who's identity has been previously known or have even provided legitimate ID have scammed before and scammers will then take advantage of this system.

Its not the  perfect solution but it would certainly cut down on scams where people trust an account with hundreds of posts etc

It's not about having done 'hundreds of posts' but you take many factors into consideration including how active you are and your previous trade history and that's why these details are all valuable informations to help you make your mind up about a user. Someone who has been here for years is very unlikely to rip you off for 0.001. A newb who's been here less than a day is though and getting rid of these things would make John K look the same as randomscammer69 to a newcomer.

The prices are too high for a full member account. What makes you think that someone will buy that shit?

This would allow the staff to scam and the staff are not (AFAIK) vetted in any way outside of what is publicly available on the forum. It would also effectively be moderating scams which is something the forum does not do (if you moderate a scam then if you miss one then the forum is effectively endorsing a scam and could be held liable). It would be a guaranteed way to get the forum involved in litigation as people would have disputes that the forum would need to resolve and when one party does not agree the other side would almost certainly initiate litigation if the amount in dispute is large enough.

You are asking to be protected from others' actions but it is your responsibility and your responsibility alone to protect yourself from scams and you need to use common sense before you buy, sell or invest in something.

This should really be stopped or done only within trusted members network. It's very much ok that way than selling senior member account or full member account to some newbies

taking away  the registration date , activity count and post count would be the best way to solve this or at least make it invisible so every member appears equal

no trusted
no senior
no hero etc

take away the incentive to buy trusted accounts to use in scams ......

This would be counterproductive and have the opposite effect. Scams would go up considerably if we were all 'equal'. Age of account, activity and trust etc are all helpful when dealing or trusting a user but that doesn't mean you should blindly trust everyone who has a certain amount of those things but they are all valuable informations to help you make your mind up about an account. Should long-time and trusted members like tomatocage and vod etc be the same as some random newb? No.

ALL DEALS SHOULD BE DONE WITH ESCROW
the amount of time anyone has spent making posts has no correlation  to how trustworthy they might be

Dank is probably the greatest example of a complete  degenerate with the status of  "legendary" just because he posts a lot of crap....

You can call him whatever you want, he still is enjoying your money.

If it makes you feel any better, even if he had given  you the account, the previous owner who sold or got his account hacked could still come back to claim it or you could be banned if the account was a part of a farm.

Let this be a lesson to all account buyers.

I enjoy being honest, sorry. I can't relate to enjoying cheating people.

Account buying is an acceptable practice. Scamming is not. Lets be clear about this.
