So i was thinking if i send a bitcoin transaction without the miner fee or a very low fee what will happen ? would i get the coins back eventually ? or they will just stuck there forever ! and if that happened how to do that double spend ?
First of all, I wouldn't suggest that you do that because it is a very stupid idea.

If a transaction goes unconfirmed for too long, it will eventually disappear from the network. Most clients will remove it from their pool of unconfirmed transactions at some point. And yes, the money should return to your account. When most clients have removed it, you can go ahead and send the transaction again, if you wish and I would suggest to use a higher fee. There's not a precise time when the transaction will disappear from the network, it could be days or up to a week. This is why it's always recommended to set a transaction fee.

That just out of his curiosity even myself having the same question back in the past when i dont really have idea on what would happen if you send bitcoin without tx fee or very very low fee. It wont really be broadcasted and possibility of getting stuck or wont confirm is there and also if you do make use of famous wallets you cant sent if you didnt follow their recommended fees even on the lowest one.

It's, sometime, called Double spend. the bad news for you is that minners will ignore your transactions, they won't be confirmed. The "good" news for you is that you can cheat that Bitcoin because you can tell people that you signed the transactions but it is not and will not be confirmed.

Aside from that, you will also get to have much delay in accessing your coins. This is really a sad part. It may really take time before your money is give back to you again after a failed transactions.

Well that's a small price to pay for being stingy, how can you expect to send a transaction for free? The miners ought to eat dude! So for contributing their hardware, power and internet you just want to send your transactions without appreciating their effort? I think you deserve to loose half the amount you sent without the fees

I always disagree with such attitude

Miners are there because this is the whole idea behind decentralization. Decentralization is the ultimate aim of mining as such, i.e. keeping the network decentralized since it allows Bitcoin to exist and not lose value in a trustless network, where no one trusts anyone else. Thus the point of miners wanting to eat or earn profits in general is utterly inconsequential to that (conceptually), while the transaction fees themselves are only one of the methods to incentivize people to become miners and allegedly keep the network decentralized. But the practice clearly shows that this method doesn't work in the long run and in fact eventually leads to the opposite of what it was intended to reach, i.e. to centralization instead of decentralization

Bitcoin has low transaction fees, why because we no need to depend upon any bank.it is not handling by any government and this is decentralized currency we can send bitcoins to any one through the internet.

What I want to know is why OP wanted to send bitcoin without mining fee? I think everybody in bitcoin knows that if you send without mining fees, it will be stuck. Does he sees any benefit in it?

Just curious.  Grin

As reading comments on this thread, I've noticed that many people had tried it before. I guess they were also just curious.
Pay the appropriate mining fee, get confirmed in the next block. Simple. Try to save yourself by testing the lower bounds, you wait.

Exactly Man, if you are aware of the transaction log for sure you will regret if you are going to do that thing. You know what? It is because the lesser you put a transaction fee the you have the less chance to have it fast or maybe if you put zero fee for sure it will not sent to the receiver of coin. Even people with higher fee has to wait few hours and with no fee you can image , it will never be confirmed.

When you know it very well that your transaction won't get confirmed and when paying for the network fee is a part of the bitcoin system then you will only be doing it for wasting your own time. Add the fee to amount you want to send as fee is also an incentive for the miners for their work.
Yeah there is no available excuses for not paying the fees because the miners are still here aside from mining is because they can earn from confirming transactions so it is very understandable that miner fees are needed in sustaining the network of bitcoin and also to maintain the profitability of bitcoin to other people just like the miners that keep supporting the network.

Miners play a vital role in the whole ecosystem of bitcoin. Without them, we cannot have transactions with integrity. They are also investing big to mine bitcoins and because of this, it is just fair to pay them some fees, which are actually not that expensive.

I made a mistake once when I put small fee to the miners. At first I thought my transaction will be rejected cause it took very long time to get a confirmation. It rebroadcasted couple times and finally after a month my transaction got a confirmation. Some people said when our transaction got no confirmation after 72 hours, it'll be rejected and the money will be send back to our wallet. But, I never faced such situation.

that is a very common misunderstanding. in fact that is no such thing as being rejected after some time or being canceled. your transaction is either rejected on the spot or it stays alive.

You will wait a long time before your transaction gets confirmed and you can't send someone bitcoin if you will not pay miner fees.

At least pay one satoshi per byte:).

I guess you should try it and let us know what happens eventually, I send bitcoins mostly for products and services I receive, and I always want it to confirm as early as possible so that I can go ahead and quickly do what I need to do.

I dont suggest you to do something like that because it can just waste your time and you dont get nothing.More fee you pay you get your transaction faster confirmed but for free nobody will not confirm your transaction.

Well, I guess the transaction could eventually happen but after much time, and not fast, because the miners look for higher transaction fees. If they don't happen, well you won't lose your btc and they will return to your account. But if you really want to make some transactions, I suggest putting a normal transaction fee, so It will eventually be processed faster.
