For me,it's best to buy ethereum.Why? Simply because eth has proven its worth and many ico projects now are ETH based funding their project. ETH has a big potential but then,don't put all your investment in just one coin. Better to spread it to minimize your loses when the value of one of them goes down.
i would invest it in Ethereum, like you said it is established and not only that it is considered as one of the major coin and always being compaired to bitcoin. from how it goes is it considered the second most popular altcoin in the market. You can never get wrong with Ethereum as a first investment.

Between TRON and ETH I prefer TRON more because of TRON's characteristics I find it to be modern as well as potential for future development though it is less prompted compared to Ethereum.
If me, i prefer buy ETH more than TRON. Because the first is ETH is #2 cryto currency rank and it's has been along while experience at crypto-world also it's has good dev behind it. And the second reason, i think ETH more profitable for next future than the others, if you want to do long-term invest.

Better option will be Ethereum, because it has more and more projects based on Ethereum, which makes it more and more popular as well as popular. Rest depends upon market trends and analysis. Don't blindly invest all at once.
These both coins are good coin you can invest both of them. $500 is pretty enough to invest on, but first priority is ethereum because we know this is better investment other than altcoins. You can divide your investment like 70% on ethereum and 30% on tron. It’s better to invest more coins rather one.
if you want to speculation and short term may be tron better..but for long term of course eth should you collect..good coin for future...the best after btc
I always said that TRON is a very speculative coin, the price can fluctuate a lot. Recently we've seen pretty big pump. I guess ETH will never grow in one day so much. But it won't fall so much as well)
The ETH will grow gradually. It has much bigger usage cases.
They're still overvalued in my opinion. You better wait for them to make a floor of accumulation 
I don't think that Tron it's a good coin. ETH keeps you from the risk of loss, don't throw your money on unstable coin as Tron.

Although I think we shouldn't underestimate the potential of tron, I always believe that ethereum is the best altcoin and it is a really low potential that seeing an another coin at the place of ethereum, on the top coins charts.

Well its not really a difficult decision in my opinion. Tron to me is more vapour than an actual product, and with the main net launching pretty soon now, there could be a massive dump on the cards there.
Stick to ether, its generally a much safer bet with a very large community and reliable developers around it. TRON in my opinion would be a very risky investment. Especially given current market conditions.
Between the two of them, I would choose Ethereum because their technology stays up to date plus the upcoming “sharding” of its blockchain according to the founder. However, it does not mean that we should not buy TRX. Recently, they have launched their own mainnet and plans to move away from the Ethereum blockchain. I hold both of them for the long-term.

Do not take the tron, for a beginner this coin is very deceptive and it may seem that it has both development and support and a bunch of advantages, but in fact it is just an overvalued coin. ETH is perfect if you want to buy it. ETH has a very good technology and has a team who are always trying to make the Eth is always growing. ETH's own very popular by society because of these coins have very many uses. And selling very nice value, using the Eth to invest the cost is very cheap and easy.
