For me it depends to the situation, because even though bitcoin is the king of crypto it doesnt mean that ethereum is under it in fact ethereum is rising and increasing in all areas. And you should think first of what is more reliable if it is bitcoin or ethereum. And Ethereum is good way to earn profit, but as you can see bitcoin is pumping in the market and being the number 1 in all cryptos thats why you should base it imn the situation of it.
Possibilities for bitcoin to be surpassed by any altcoin in the market is really there which means its our decision regarding on our bitcoin holdings if you would tend to put it on another coin.It would depend since its your money after all but for me i would not convert my bitcoin for etherium instead of pulling it out better to find or seek funds on putting on etherium too on which you would able to hold both coin.

When investing, I’m a big fan of diversification of portfolios. I believe that both Ethereum and Bitcoin offer value, albeit in different ways.

Even though Ethereum is positioning itself to become a large platform, the fact that Bitcoin is so well known makes it the first place where people invest.

It's a big mistake to trade your Bitcoin for Ethereum right now. Bitcoin is going to get segwit, and then lightning network, and then sidechains, and Blockstream just got Satellites out there to broadcast the Bitcoin Blockchain... so much exciting stuff happening in Bitcoin right now. I think everyone should have their main amount of crypto portfolio in BTC, specially right now, it's key to have as much BTC as possible.

Ethereum still has to overcome huge problems which im not sure they will be able to, meanwhile Bitcoin is sailing smooth, the only problem it has is the segwit2x morons being annoying again with the blocksize increase scam in November but we will get around that.

I, agree with Pereira as always BTC will stay as King of Crypto world. The portfolio should consist of both BTC and ETH as non-trading assets. You may have few ETH which you use it for buying rest.

i guess it is not a bad idea because the ethereum is dumping in the market and i guess it is a good way to earn a profit but you can also see that the bitcoin is also pumping in the market thag also give profit i guess .

Not likely, I have tried this and I don't feel good because with the bitcoins that I had before I could buy now more ethereum.

I'm saying this because the exchange rate has been decreased too much and it's not the same as before and you will lose.

It is not a bad idea to convert your bitcoin into eth, eth itself is a great coin and it is a good investment coin, if you think it can give  you a better profit then go for it, both bitcoin and eth got a potential to generate profit by only holding it, and because the price fluctuation is high, so all of the coin share the equal chance to give you better profit

Convert bitcoin etherium will certainly give rise to exchanges and if you're lucky or understand when the price will fit to be switched would be gain or profit from the Exchange. But I prefer to hold the price because of the bitcoin every day changing and lately that shows positive prospects

Ethereum is very fashionable now, but as soon as a better platform appears for smart contracts, it may shrink quite a lot.

Why you want to convert your btc to ethernium? Are you dont see the stability and potentiality of bitcoin? I dont suggest to convert btc to eth now.Btc is now rising like rocket So you can wait untill btc touched $5000. And that day does not far away from today.
I do not see anything wrong with that, I'm a holder of bitcoin but I can understand why some other people may prefer to be traders and benefit themselves from the change of prices not only between bitcoin and fiat but the change in prices between bitcoin and altcoins, if you are any good at that then you can easily make a mountain of money in a relatively short amount of time.

Well both Bitcoin and Ethereum are at present topmost cryptocurrencies. Ethereum is giving more ROI than Bitcoin these days, but Bitcoin prices too have a huge window.

For short term, Bitcoin will be good as an investment option, but for long term Bitcoin as well as Ethereum both are good option

Right now the issue is not a bout technologies but a matter of price, if you have bitcoin you have a big advantage right now, you can buy ETH for the cheapest prices in a long of time so this is the perfect opportunity to get not only ETH but altcoins at ridiculous low prices, then when altcoins are the ones to pump you can buy bitcoin and buy even more than before.

You are right for that, but I think to buy ETH still need a lot of money, because ETH for now I think is still very high for the price, better buy Altcoin to trade, but you have to wait a bit patiently Altcoin Being high, I'm sure Patiently waiting for you will bring good results in the future.

I personally think that that is a bad idea, infact, i think it is the worse decision a bitcoin holder can make. Specially at this time that bitcoins are getting more and more popularized by various people in many ways, both influential people and not. Plus with all the things happening today in bitcoins, segwit2x, etc. it gets bitcoining more exciting and thrilling, you would miss out on all the fun and profit if ever.

If you are going to convert your bitcoin into ethereum it is just like wasting some opportunities as a part of bitcoin development. And as you said bitcoin just come to the point of segwit or direct split of bitcoin into two. So just like what happened to ethereum development much progress and growth may be experienced by bitcoin resulting for a better way of transaction on its developed value, price , and security.

This is a good question sir but but the decision is yours. Given the fact that Ethreum became large, it is widely known. Bitcoin serves as a digital gold and we all know that. But if you will ask me, I can say that it is much better if you hold your bitcoin.

Well you have a very big decision to make, kidding. You want to diversify your portfolio, but you are doing it at the wrong time, ETH can fall and you can buy and insure in the long term, maybe in 5 months ETH will increase its price, but then there is another possibility, bitcoin can also increase in price . So to solve your problem:

Do you have 1btc? If you have 1BTC you can hold for a long time, but if you have less than 1BTC you can buy ETH when you fall and you sell ETH when going up.

To see the present price variation in Bitcoin better, you don't do anything with your bitcoin. Just wait for some time once it crossed $4500 then 100% it will reach up to $5k because this is the margin for to hit $5k. But you are looking for long time investment then you can convert your BTC to ETH. It has bright future.
