I would suggest you to diversify your money into two parts, buy some good altcoins like etc, eth and hold them for a long period of time and invest some money in a good ico after checking properly there back-end team and there activity log.
The safest option is to invest in btc or eth. Investing in ICO is very risky. It is better to invest in coins.
I think for new players it's better to invest in bitcoin only but you also read what are the advantages of ICO and altcoin investment so that when you already have a lot of skill you can start to invest in altcoin and ICO.

Instead of choosing a single investment vehicle, why not consider all of the investment areas you have set up by creating a portfolio? If your budget is not too low, you can get a basket income by creating a nice portfolio. Also, it would be more beneficial to use several different investment vehicles instead of waiting for earnings with a single investment instrument. If I say I want to choose one, I would advise you to choose Bitcoin.

most investors have a keen analysis and predictions are accurate, generally, the purpose of the investment is done for profit. According to me in 2018 it you should just do it a good investment in the bitcoin, because given the prices of bitcoin fore will getting better and exceed haga of the previous year.

Your question states whether investing in bitcoin, altcoin or ico but your post above states only ICO. It looks already like you have made your choice with ICO. That too is not a bad choice if you must know. Nevertheless let me reecho the advice of many here, 'be very weary with ICOs because of the so many frauds with them.'

i think we should start investing in altcoins more and more, despite the fact that bitcoin is still the most popular cryptocurrecny on the world but surely in the future, bitcoin will be weaken by other altcoins born from new ICOs with better technologies, recently the bitcoin dominance has dropped slowly below 40% and Altcoins like ETH and XRP is getting better and better everyday to catch up with Btc. 
I prefer to invest in Altcoins and Bitcoin. ICO projects are a good investment, but unfortunately there is a lot of fraud among ICO projects and you need to choose them carefully.

Ico is a good investment option right now, sometimes there are still many ico who have a bad reputation and they just do a scam. But when we are good at observing and analyzing carefully then I am sure we can choose a good ico. A good Ico usually has a professional team and has a good reputation. I've read some interesting articles and watched some interviews that this year is going to be tough for ICOs so invest at your own risk with it.I'll obviously say that just buy bitcoin and HODL.

invest in Bitcoin and also in the long run I'm sure it will provide great benefits, altcoin will also actually provide the best as long as we can choose the right altcoin.
Your first investement in crypto world should always be bitcoin...then after some experience you should move on to some famous alts like ethereum and litecoin..learn and take experience...investing in ICO's is risky and only for experts
For me, diversification is important in investing to reduce the risk. Since bitcoin is the safest crypto to invest, i think you should at least fill 50% of your portfolio with bitcoin. To choose which good ICO to invest in is a bit hard as there's ton of new ICO and it really takes a lot of time to read all of their whitepaper. I personally shortlist them by popularity and then read their whitepaper before deciding whether to invest or not. But to join a bounty campaign, i'm not that concern.

to invest in Bitcoin is indeed a high potential to get considerable results big. but will be much more invested in ICO. ICO is also at risk of investing. because the success of the new ICO gets a profit if ICO does not reach the target of eating we will accept the risk. so I advise investing in Bitcoin.
