For long term, I really like ETH, smart contracts is one of its biggest advantage. There are a lot of industries that are looking at this technology and how to utilize and take advantage of it.
As for Ripple, damn it was really pump so hard that it overcome ETH as the #2 coins in terms of marketcap. But I don't think that is a good investment long term though. Although it has gain because of the roadmaps and its application, I don't know if the price is going to be sustainable for long term.
But if you have the funds to get both of them, then you should. ETH for long term, and Ripple short term.

Maybe Ripple looks good at the moment but the question is will it stand that good in the future. On the other hand Ethereum is already proven coin that shows good results and have great odds for the future. So I would definetely choose Ethereum.

Ripple's price increase seems unnatural for a coin with infinite supply so it might be better to invest in eth. You can also have the third choice--you could invest in other crypto with huge potential like electroneum, verge, eos and cardano.
Ripple is a perspective crypto, but I wouldn't be so sure in 5x growth within 2 month as you claim. I will keep waiting ETH at 500$ and then enter in it, so every single ICO is based on ERC-20, so it should be higher in long term,but in short term I expect drawdown till 400-500

It depends. It depends if your investment is for long term or short term. For short term investment, I would suggest Ripple, there are so many positive news and speculations surrounding Ripple right now, and all of that are helping it up its value substantially for the next few months. Considering that it holds a lower value, it can be a good short term invest following the concept of striking it while the iron is hot. On the other hand, if it's a long term investment, Eth would be the better choice. It is one of the strongest and more reliable altcoins around, plus its developers are still active that could help it gain value as well.
i think if i were you i will invest in ethereum because of its popular, ethereum is the best altcoins in crypto market, and because of its fast rising speed it has dominated entire crypto market after bitcoin, also many transactions is through ETH, so Ethereum is a good coin that worthy to invest than Ripple.
I think that both Etherum and Ripple are good for investing because basically both coins are good. If you want more stability and durability, choose Etherum. Conversely, if you want more profit you can invest in ripple because it is very low price and it will easily increase the price more than Etherum because Etherum is priced at nearly 900 USD whereas Ripple only price 2 USD.
If you have capital to invest in both is much better but if your capital is limited for 1 coin i would like to suggest to buy ethereum because i predict that ethereum would increase its value more for this year because of those incoming ico which their value was depending on the ethereum value and not bitcoin.
why dont you invest in both ETH and Ripple.how about spending more than a half of your budget in ETH, and the rest in Ripple?
For me i think you better invest to ETH rather than Ripple because it is less risky and Eth has more potential to grow compare to Ripple. But if you are a risk taker you can invest to both Alts.

You should invest with ripple ( xrp ) because eth is good for trade not invest. XRP even reach $ 1 but I believe is not too high, we can buy it and hold, xrp also has future. Eth is good but from my experience only for trade, not recommended for invest because the price too high. Don't just look at the price of a coin but also looks at their market cap and number coins. Even at current ripple price, its market cap is higher than Eth due to its high number of coins. I believe ETH may grow faster than a ripple in 2018. But as an investor, it possible invest in both coins and take the advantage to grow your money.

I heard the news that ETH is going to be hardfork on January 20th. I can not give you a link about this news.

That's a good news if this year or this month eth will become 0.1BTC I think I better hold hold some of my ethereum, So I gain more a lot of it, I never doubt of it actually.

Both Coins Are Good In Investment For Long Term, Ethereum and Ripple is now appearing in any social media and issued as the next leading coin, Bitcoin will crash and this two will rise, but I don't actually believe it. This Two Coins has the ability to increase it's value in upcoming months or years, i am now currently HODLING ethereum because I know it's capacity, I'll also Try Ripple
