Seriously through, primedice is down everyday now. I have no idea why they upgraded their site without any testing whatsoever Stupid stupid move. People will and have gone elsewhere now.  Plus there was always something funky with the odds there when betting .01 or higher. This site looks like they have there s#$$# together..

I must've missed that one. Got a link or source?

What's weird is that people don't seem to go elsewhere; they just hang around hitting F5 on PrimeDice waiting for it to come back up.

Until "PD3" all the bets were off by 0.005%. That's probably what he's referring to.

For instance, you bet the 10% game, to get a 9.9x payout, and the game showed "over 90.00" as the roll you had to make. Sounds like a 10% chance, right? Well, the way it generates the rolls is to make a number between 0 and 100, and then round it to 2 decimal places. So if you roll 90.004 say, it would get rounded to 90.00, and you would lose your "over 90.00" bet. To get over 90.00 you had to actually roll 90.005 or higher, or the rounding would make you lose. That's a 90.005% chance.

Not too big a deal at 10%, but if you were betting the hardest bet, "over 99.99", which is meant to be a 0.01% chance, it was actually only a 0.005% chance - twice as hard as advertised, with a house edge of over 50% due to the rounding.

This was fixed in PD3 when they switched to the Just-Dice method of roll generation.

Edit: I'm sorry, I misunderstood. He was talking about the odds being wrong when the stake was high? That's nonsense; just standard rigtard talk. The odds were wrong whatever stake you bet, but only by half a percent of a percent.

Also they did a lot of testing before launch, but probably not enough testing of the ability to deal with high load, and the way various different browsers deal with the page.

Edit2: on the signature campaign thread's OP I see:

Quote
Legendary Members : unlimited slots. LEGENDARIES WILL NOT occupy slots, they can enter even if all 100 slots are taken.

To enroll for Septembers' signature campaign, you will need to post on this topic here

But the thread is locked. If a legendary member wanted to sign up, what should they do? Maybe update the OP of that thread to tell them.

Don't want to drag this thread off topic but:

Here's the relevant link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

PD was provably fair last I checked.

I still respect their opinion on downtime though, that is indeed a valid point and something we're working on. As mentioned I am sorry to have digressed from DB discussion, will not be responding further to this here.

I haven't visited your site yet (I suppose I shouldn't visit gambling sites while Im at work) but:

Do you have a "Stop After X Loss" feature for auto betting...and does the "Stop After X Loss" feature work...unlike Prime Dices?

Yes. And it works for me.

You can set a limit at which the robo betting will not go below.

For example, you deposit 1.0 BTC.
You can set the bot to stop if the next bet would take your balance below 0.5 BTC

Same if you want to stop after winning a certain amount.

Perfect! Thanks for the reply!

Not only it works fine, its BLAZING fast as well!

Also, taken from FAQ https://dicebitco.in/faq :

How do I play using RobotRoll?

RobotRoll™ has been designed in order to be able to submit automated bets. This means that you must first parameterize RobotRoll™ to your needs.

The first thing you have to set it's the BASE BET, which is the amount of bitcoins RobotRoll™ will use to submit a bet (this may change depending on the increase by value, continue for details).

Next you have to set the NUMBER OF ROLLS which is the maximum number of bets the RobotRoll™ will submit. We say maximum because RobotRoll™ may stop rolling depending on the Stop at value and of course your balance.

You can also set bet specific parameters such as the PAYOUT, the CHANCE TO WIN and the BET TYPE (under or over).

What is interesting though is that you can impose constraints on the two major events (winning or losing) and that is why there are two sections there: ON LOSS and ON WIN. For the ON LOSS exists the global "Stop at" parameter which tells the RobotRoll™ to stop when your balance gets below that value (in order to prevent you from losing more than you want). Under the "Stop at" you can find parameters that are affecting the bet size on every roll. The first one (Return to Base Bet) tells RobotRoll™ that every time you lose a bet the bet size should return to it's base value (BASE BET value). The second one (Increase by) tells RobotRoll™ that every time you lose a bet to increase the bet size by x%. The x value can be also negative if you want to decrease the bet size. Note that the same set of parameters are there for the other major event: ON WIN.

P.S. Did we mention that TONS of updates are coming this month? They are tested the moment we speak, like, you know, tested-tested. Just to make sure we are online!  Grin

Lies. I've seen how dice sites are tested: you put the new code live and see if it works. If not, you change it randomly and try again. You guys deploy fully working code. I smell witchcraft at work.

Also they probably feel that it's worth spending coins to get themselves established. There are a *lot* of dice sites out there with not an awful lot of differentiation between them. If advertising heavily can pull in just a single large (and unlucky!) player, it's worth it.

this. We have a large buffer of BTCs and funds, most due to our successful LTC version. It is totally cool with us to be on"zero profit" or even abit negative, to begin with. Hopefully, the more attentionwe are getting, people will self-promote the site as well and we wont have to pay extra for signatures.

Its a give and take relationship!  Cheesy

tl;dr : worry not. We are here for the long(very long) run.

Enjoy the site !

In fact, there will never be a faucet on dicebitcoin, as it is "TOO much trouble, too expensive, too server stressful, too abusive" according to the following post.

Sometimes i wonder if we had faucet, how many users we would have online... Tongue
Add one and see it yourself? Wink Probably more.

Doesnt worth the trouble imho. TOO much trouble, too expensive, too server stressful, too abusive. Still fun when i think about it though Tongue
