you can start to visit coindesk.com and just click the learning tab and then you will get so many articles that will give you a lot of knowledge started from the bitcoin and then comparable from the various assets that exist in the crypto market.

You can also find the same thing on cointelegraph.com too and both of the sites were the best sites to learn more about that dude.

That will give you a complete explanation about various crypto or you can visit crypto wiki created by developer of token/coin.

You know what, the majority of the altcoins in this field of business are honestly not good or shit coins they called.
But I cannot also deny that some of the altcoins are also give a nice profit depending in the volume in the market and quantity of
the traders as well. And one of the reference to use on this are Coinmarketcap, coingecko, and crypto.com.

Everything can easily be search within the browser or internet so you do not have to worry about any resources on where you can specifically find out information about a certain Altcoin that you wish to have with. This forum can also serve as a source of information for you just have to create a thread for your inquiry or just rather scroll and roam around the forum to seek answers about such Altcoin. Social media platforms can also do help like Twitter and Telegram because Altcoins that came from projects even the new existing ones do have such. But you can find it all just by searching into your browser so no need to get complicated.

The ANN section alone has a lot to offer to users that wanted to know specifics of every project. And once you check their thread, you can eventually go to their website as you will find more information about their project. You can get a comprehensive idea also about their concept by reading their whitepaper or any technical documentation. But to check their actual progress regarding their developments, you can check their posts in their social media channels.

Hey Guys, im still very new to crypto.  is there a resource to learn about the significance of different altcoins before investing?
You can easily find it on the Coinmarketcap website, there you can see and be able to choose your investment. I think you can try investing with several different altcoins, but these altcoins have a good value and potential to invest in. therefore you can access Coinmarketcap and can be learned. I think Coinmarketcap is a good solution for traders in investing.
Not only there, but through several other ranking sites can also be learned by newbies who want to learn to invest, one of which is through coingecko which also provides services that are almost the same as coinmarketcap.

I advise you to take some time and read things that post in the altcoin section, that includes reading the ANN Thread of the altcoin, for example imagine that you want to know about Litecoin? what I would recommend would be to go to coinmarketcap, searches for Litecoin (LTC) and then look for the community, see an example here:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/

with that you can read altcoin's ANN Thread here on bitcointalk, you can have more information on altcoin's twitter and reddit and you'll be able to get a lot of knowledge about any altcoin

I agree with you. There are many places where you can learn a lot of different information about the coins.

In my opinion, the main thing is to research the various aspects of your chosen coin before investing. I mean don't just look at the current market performance or the whitepaper of the coin. It is also good to make a research about the purpose of the project, whether there is potential in it, to research the team behind this project and all the other things that are related to the coin and the future increase in its price.

Just go with the basic and if you are really that serious on knowing the utility or usefulness of such coin or project then you can always read up their ANN thread.
If you do wish to go further then you can read up their Whitepaper and Roadmap. You can easily picture out or know on whats the project is all about.
Making out comparison on other projects as well.

Significance? This is where you should really be aware off because in all of the altcoins in the market then most of them are just redundant to each other.

There’s a lot of resources online where you can learn about cryptocurrency, its easy to search for what you’re looking for but if you know someone who are already into cryptocurrency much better to ask for a help so you wont get lost and overwhelmed with too much information about cryptocurrency. I started to learn crypto on youtube and in this forum, just keep exploring this forum and you’ll be good.

Your post does not simplify what you mean by significance. There are different altcoins really but significance is what seem not clear but I'm sure you can trace your self to cmc. If you check cmc, there are numbers that got some top positions in the list and I think they are more significant to the lesser price coin this is the reason for their different prices.  Their uses are far different from each other.

Well welcome to the fun but there is not just any one stop shop.  What I can tell you is to diversify your readings.  Make sure before you buy into something exhaust all media outlets as you can (here, redit, twitter, medium articles, and lots of google).  If you read one article and get sold it can very much be biased so be careful.  And again welcome to the show enjoy your time here Smiley

Check the coinmarketcap just like two to three people are suggesting above. Then find some altcoin at the top 50 or 100, look at their historical data, check their white paper, check the people behind this project and it's latest developments. So, you won't fall investing to a shitcoin.
I guess these will be enough resources to differentiate the top altcoins in the market.

Binance Academy.

And before you invest, know how much you'll be investing, and don't just throw your money into an altcoin that has been told to you that's being said as a good altcoin.

You're on the good track by doing the first step of researching.
