Anyone that is already at this worst state, expect that he's not anymore at his good and critical thinking. He needs a medical practitioner that will guide and help him throughout the process, someone that he can trust and feel assured that he'll get recover soon.

Acceptance is the key. Being in denial won't help these gambling addicts. It will only make their condition worst, until they don't have chances to recover and feel good anymore.
A person will start thinking about changing only in some extreme cases, when he achieves something bad. I noticed that most often it is some kind of illness, some of them are more noticeable, some are more difficult to detect, but the person will change and those around him should notice it first. Depending on gambling, these can be nervous breakdowns, or frequent mood swings, because a person cannot behave the same way when he has big problems.

I tell you and is very bad for one to go extra miles in borrowing money to cover up for their gambling activities, it's sure a pure state of gambling addiction just like someone that can go miles to  smoke or take illicit drugs.
Well borrowing money isn't that bad but the worst thing is that such addicts sell their household things and belongings of their siblings and other family members.

Some addicts often sell their wives items and some even forget all moral values and do worst things possible.

The addicts that are highly addicted don't really have any moral values and they could literally cross all lines.

#4 Inability to stop
On the moment that you cant be able to make yourself stop at the moment that you are losing and instead of stopping then this is a solid indication that you are really that having some addiction problems or lets say that you dont have that kind of self control at the moment or time that you do play gambling. We do know that gambling is really just that for the sake of fun and if you arent that good when it comes into this aspect then it will really be that better that you should avoid gambling in the first place.

Gambling isnt bad if you are that an individual whose really that good when it comes to self control. You are the ones will really be making out such stoppage at the time that you do make out huge loses on which is a must thing. The common mistake of people is that instead of stopping they do make out deposit even more. Gambling could bring up that entertainment but also it could really be that destructive when it comes to finances if you arent that good.

Control is everything and if you arent that good when it comes into this aspect then you will really be that prone when it comes to financial aspect and this isnt something that we dont really like to happen. Just make it sure that on the moment that you do play gambling then you are just making use of the amount that you can afford to lose.

It's not bad if it's put into good use. But if it's used for gambling, that's how the worse part starts. And this isn't just a tale and it is really happening.
Yes, if borrowed money is put into good use then nothing is wrong in borrowing but if it's put into gambling then it's not right use of the borrowed money. Gamblers these days don't really care about losing even borrowed money, and surely they can sell most household items and even their bodies to fulfill their urges.

Though, I would say selling their furniture or their own bodies in order to continue to please their gambling urges are rather extreme cases of addiction and which are supposed to have been attended by professional long time about before the devolved into degenerate gambling.
When comes to borrowing money I personally avoid to get in debt for whatever reason, it feels like being the slave of the lender in some philosophical way until all the money due is paid back. Asking for money to gamble is just the summit of the misuse of borrowed money, in my opinion, perhaps to be same level of asking money to drink alcohol or acquire and consume drugs.

Regardless one is a casual gambler or not a gambler at all, the best way of life is not having any debt and only to pay for good and services through debit/cash.
I have to agree with this. While gambling addiction can force someone to find ways to make money just to fulfill the urge in gambling, worst is if you end up taking a debt and lose it all in just a day. That's a double kill for you. You need to pay your debt when it's due, without even having a chance to use the money wisely, since you spend it all in gambling and lose them in an instant.

Additionally, I believe procrastinating other activities and unconsciously or conscious going to gamble is a serious sign that you're way too into gambling addiction. I have seen lots of people miss opportunities because they shifted almost everything to create more time to gamble. perhaps op you have said it above but I still have to point to it because I have an experience on that.

Secondly very sad that we have to keep running around discussions like this meanwhile we all know what is the truth.

I agree with you on this, if you can postpone other activities to just to gamble then your addiction is on another level. Leaving important things that are beneficial to you so you can gamble means that it has become a dependency issue. There are people who can't maintain a job because of how addicted they are to Gambling, they are not punctual, they are dishonest and they always have excuses to cover up their lapses. Allowing gambling to act on your frame of mind like this can lead to a whole lot of setbacks that might affect your life. If you can't engage in gambling to have fun just avoid doing it so it doesn't become an obsession.

"Don't let yourself have a long free time, because if that happens then it can bring us closer to gambling and addiction."

I am a person who likes to pay attention to the conditions around me. And for example, some time ago my brother lost his job, so he had a lot of free time. And what happened was the more free time he had, the more often he gambled. And this can happen because when someone is used to gambling, then when he has money and free time, his mind will immediately focus on gambling. Which in the end this can not only result in financial losses, but his life becomes unproductive and lazy.
Actually, that is true and occurs so many times in life outside of gambling. You get too much free time, and you begin doing stuff that doesn't really matter because it feels like there is no rush or pressure to get anything done. It is just your brain wandering around, and if you are not careful, it leads to bad habits.

That is why staying busy with things that are indeed good for you, say hobbies or goals, as small as they might seem, is important. So free time is great, but too much of it without focus can really mess things up.  Roll Eyes

I will not is agree with you because I have seen multiple people around me like one of my close relatives husband was a very  addicted Gambler They had a lot of property 15 years ago, but their extreme addiction to gambling day after day led them to addiction to various drugs, and later, as a result of gambling and drugs becoming a regular routine, he borrowed money to gamble and later sold the land to pay off the money. And while doing so, their property, which was 10 times earlier, is now only one time.

I shared this story of mine just because you talked about this borrow and it reminded me of this story because there were similarities in it that he used to borrow and gamble and later he got into a bad situation and at the same time his family is also in a bad situation now.

Borrowing money to solve some problems isn’t bad, but borrowing money to gamble is really bad.
I fully agree with you, the ones who borrow money to solve some of their financial issues or to buy some food for their family is good use of borrowing but it's not good at all to borrow money for gambling.

If someone becomes an addict then in most cases no one lend money to such people but if still somehow they get success in borrowing money then it would be problematic for both the borrower who gambles it away, and for the lender who might not get his/her money back.

Additional not just for the borrower but also to the person he manage to borrow the money, the chance that he'll be losing it with his gambling is not by far, knowing that addiction to gambling lead a person not to think well, as the priority is to keep on playing and with that the chance they'll just going to add it to their loses possibly to take place.

While for the person who let them borrow the money, the chance that he won't be able to recover his money might take place as being helpful in such way is not going to help but will just adds up to the problem, better to say no if you have an idea with how the person who's asking for the money will use or spend it, tolerating will backfire to you as the money will no longer be repay.

What certain circumstances do you mean?  Undecided
I never assume gambling as a source of regular income. Gambling naturally is a place for having fun and trying luck with those games. Even if you got money when you have a luck, it is better to assume it as lucky money. If you assume it as a passive income or additional income, you are probably motivated to try harder. This way raises the chance of losing of huge money because you are trying to chase the wins for earning more money. In many cases, this ends up with addictions and severe losses.

I also think the same, for me things are always very good when they are seen in a real way, seeing the game as an income source or as passive income is not good, unless you are making a plan with a token or something like that, because I know that that can be done, then in this sense it is the only way, but otherwise if it is to play and see some passive income no, playing to have fun is the most accepted, but you have to see something or reality, when you play it is to win, everyone who plays plays to win money, if you can great, but if not, you have to accept that it is not.

Whenever if you do find someone borrows money to you and do know that he/she's been dealing with gambling then you would definitely be that rejecting out such request even if its your close friend or relative.
There's no indeed chance that for you to be repaid those loans or borrowed money specially if that someone doesnt really have that plans on stopping it. They will really be that continuing on finding or seeking possible funds that they could take even if it means on taking up some loans whether on personal or other like banks of financing as long they could be able to do so then they would definitely be doing it. People will really be only stopping literally on the time that they dont have money on their pockets or bank accounts for them to play on or there's no one that they could take some loans or borrow.

One knock out realization will hit them hardly. Once their loved ones start to talk to them with sense, that's one way to wake them up.
And when they have nothing left anymore and they have noticed that, that's going to hit them very badly, critically.
Because ultimately the best way for someone to realise that the importance of self-control in gambling is to lose so that when they have felt a loss then surely they will try to reorganise and think about the actions that they have finally done as a form of evaluation.

I say this because I have experienced a point where I lost quite a large amount of money in terms of nominal which was a turning point for me to be more mature than before. Although it cannot be denied that until now I still gamble but as much as possible I try to focus more on myself so that I don't get stuck in the same way as before which makes me lose quite a lot and I always limit and try not to cross the limit when I have lost the nominal amount that I have agreed with myself every week.

Yes, usually like that, what I mean is that people will usually be able to experience change when they have experienced something bad that makes them realize that they have been treating gambling in the wrong way and thinking, but of course it also depends on the person, simply if for example they always find it difficult to evaluate then awareness will never arise in their minds and that is the reason why many people find it difficult to recover from addiction.

Basically, everyone will never like losing money, so before you make a decision, make sure that you really understand what and how the consequences are, such as the risks in gambling which will always be part of the game, and this is the reason why we are always advised to only gamble with a little money, none other than to avoid bad possibilities such as losing large amounts of money, remember that besides you can win but you are also very likely to lose.

The moment you lose that is when you will be able to control your self because we gamblers have similar abilities when we lose we always want to make back the money we have lost and that is like one of the problems because when you keep playing to make back your money, then you keep losing, and control is very essential we just have to be very honest gambling is not somthing you joke with because even with control you won't be able to alway control your self.

There is no way you would not have lose a lot of money when it comes to gambling just that the more you lose the more your chances of winning also increases because you will not know exactly when you will get lucky, there are periods that you just have to let go the whole thing for some time, taking a break is very important because gambling can actually be very consuming, so we all just have to be careful not to get consumed because when it get to that point then everything becomes dangerous because there are people that even sell there property just to gamble that is the problem with gambling.

But when looking at the condition that is already severe in terms of addiction and continues to sell what they have, it is actually quite difficult to sober up gamblers like this before they really realise on their own when they have lost everything they have.
There are many examples of this happening where those who are addicted and cannot control their gambling activities actually do more and sometimes with unreasonable bets just because they want to restore the situation that is not in their favour.

But in the end this is clearly a mistake that is getting fatal and they know it but they don't want to admit directly that what they did was a mistake because this will make them regret it from the beginning. Those who are already at this point will not stop before what they want to do happens by gambling continuously until their money and assets are exhausted and only then do they regret what they have done.

People who are addicted will realize that they have suffered a big loss but they are not aware enough to be able to stop by reducing their interest in gambling, people who are acutely addicted are likely to continue gambling even though they have experienced consecutive defeats and suffered quite large losses. This is because initially they had the wrong response to gambling which they thought they could win easily and this is what made them addicted.

With the many cases that have occurred, it should be a lesson for us to be aware of not gambling excessively, I think this can be done as long as we ourselves are aware.
Those who are addicted will not realize easily as they only want to keep playing gambling. They will not think about the money and thinks that they can have the money to return to gambling. Those who addicted will be difficult to see the reality that happen to them because their focus is change and see that gambling are their passion.

If they can prevent themselves from playing gambling too often and realize that gambling can makes them addicted easily, they will always trying to keep themselves stay away from gambling. They will not come back too often and playing gambling to chase the win but they will see that gambling is just a way to enjoy their spare time.

Those gamblers become poor not just with finances but also with mentality. They've been shackled by the thought that they will still recover and be fine after all that they've done. It's best for them to just stop and realize that they have done something wrong to themselves and selling almost all and everything made them release a poor decision that had reflected to how they think.
