#5 Financial issues: Once you start going out of your way to gamble even if you no longer have money, you have some serious addiction going now. Some will sell their belongings and even borrow money if it meant they could gamble.
A normal gambler may spend some of their extra money on gambling activities. But when their losses are more than they are willing to spend, they stop. Pathological gambling (addiction) is characterized by an inability to control or stop gambling and will continue gambling even after losing more money than the gambler can afford. These gambling losses can put the gambler in debt or risk assets such as the gambler’s car or home.
The losses are much deeper than just going broke from gambling.
Gambling addiction often takes a long time to develop, and as the gambler spends more time on it, other activities suffer. They neglect relationships, family responsibilities, and home. They frequently miss work. They neglect meetings and other important commitments. Or they may gamble while at work, or when they should be sleeping or interacting with their family
