I have seen some threads where it is about gambling addiction and it is really important because many players do not even recognize that they have a problem, and I have done a lot of reading about this, in fact in this article they name the basic keys to recognize it and what else. I recommend when seeing is that you can go to a psychologist so that you can go little by little controlling it, it is a lie that you are told or demanded that you stop playing, it is not the solution, but if you control it:

Quote
Most people who gamble know when to quit. They set certain dollar limits or number of bets placed in a given time period. Gambling addicts don't know when to say "no" instead favoring the next bet as the winning one in the hopes of making up for prior losses. They continue to chase these losses bet after bet, day after day, spiraling out of control. Even if they are up, they still have the urge to bet again, potentially betting larger amounts of money for a greater thrill and potential reward.

Although many do not give much importance to this issue, sometimes those players who have a lot of experience are tempted to make certain mistakes that make them fall into vice, but in a softer way, it is not a reason for shame but for accept and improve.

Gamblers don't realize they are addicted to gambling until it's worse which they've done unthinkable already like breaking the piggybank of his kid just so he could gamble again. But you as a gambler can also notice it to yourself before you get to the worse situation like selling valuables like jewelry so you could play again.

Is seeking a new strategy or thinking of betting while you are sleeping signs of addiction? If not, what are little signs that unfold you are becoming a gambling addict?
There isn't any single sign or criteria but usually, person is addicted if he/she:
1. Spends more money in gambling than he can afford to.
2. Can't get fun from gambling, instead, he/she is getting nervous/anxious and agitated.
3. Person talks about gambling very often (It doesn't directly mean that he/she is addicted but usually, people talk about things that they are interested in and are captivated)
4. He/She prioritizes gambling more than necessary.
5. He gambles and his quality of life is declining.

Those are the main signs to my mind. If a person thinks about betting when there is a time of sleep, then sure he has very deep problems and it's not a typical addiction.
Lot's of reason why people are too addict in gambling and I do agree on these criteria that we can normally see to those who are into gambling addiction. Falling hard into sleep thinking about gambling can also be a sign of sleeping problem and a gambling addiction as well since you do think for the money that you've spend in gambling. It's normal if its just 1 day or so but if you experience it almost every night then something is bad at you already.

And when that happens, I believe he already needs professional help. Unless, he will admit it to himself and ask from his family how to address his gambling issues. But most of the time, they don't want their family to interfere their business. It is hard to get out if you are already deep in this gambling habit. You need something to motivate you to change your lifestyle. But up until then, your life may really get worse if not addressed early.

If you are constantly thinking about it then it could be a sign of addiction. Gambling addicts will find ways to gamble, even without money, I know some people who would even sell their phone, jewelry or even borrow money just to gamble. My aunt even had to sell her house to pay her gambling debts. Gambling addiction could bring you financial problem as well.
I have friends and relatives that did that. They sold things that they own and then promised to buy it back because they're just in need. They give a different reason so that people would pity them and will have no second thought of buying those goods that they sell. But the main reason is that they're selling it because they've lose in gambling and they're thinking of gambling again to recover what has been lost to them.

Financial problems are the most important sign that someone is starting to have a problem, or maybe even already has one.
If, someone is borrowing money or selling valuables in order to be able to gamble, the information is that that person already has a very big problem with gambling.
Few years ago I used to have financial problems because of gambling, but luckily I didn't get in to the addiction.
Now I am very careful because I know how close I was to that and how thin the line is.

do all sorts of things for it to happen.Dont just simply ignore because when addiction had consumed you then its really hard to solve it out on your own.

This is really true because an addicted person in gambling would only stop if he losses all his money, no satisfaction when winning because of greediness, and still greediness to not accept losses, instead, they'll bet more to recover without thinking they're gambling aggressively already.

As a gambler, we will only suffer to a painful defeat if we can't correct our mistakes and allow our emotion to dictate us, it's okay to follow our emotion if we are having fun, but if we are serious in gambling, we should be able to control that emotion and just follow our mind always.
Unfortunately that is not completely correct, those that area addicted will not stop when they lose their money, when they run out of their own money they will ask for credit to their family and friends and get as many credit cards as possible to keep their addiction going and in the worst cases they will even begin to commit crimes, at that point it is incredibly difficult for the person to get better as they know that it will take them years to get out of the hole they created by themselves.
Majority of gamblers would just stop out when they dont have money to spend on but if you are already an addicted one then as long you are aware that you do have money to spent

then you would be finding ways to continue which is really a common behavior of a gambling addict and this is something which cant really be solved out by a certain gambler.

If you are a person who is impulsive towards risk and dont like to lost money then gambling isnt for you.

In my opinion the gambling addiction signs is when the gambler lose the sum of money he has set for gambling and try to get it back with his saving money and in most cases end up losing them i think that gamblers need to have some kind of self control and see the gambling as some sort of fun activity or a hobby which will make it easier for them to adapt in case of a loss.
Self control? Only if that will be possible. The spirit behind gambling tend to prohibit what is called self control, because if a gambler had had self control,he wouldn't play again when he has lost twice or thrice. But he still plays no matter how he looses. And once one is unable to hold himself when he has lost a game, caution should be taken, because lack of self control is the major sign of gambling addiction.
Yes i am familiar with what your talking about i sometimes had this issue and kept losing money by trying to recover after a series of losses and you are right gambling is really tricky and most gamblers lack the concept of self control.

Anyone could already see themselves whether they have no self-control. When someone got angry and then burst out, it's a sign of no self-control already I knew this because I sometimes do it. Self control is hard to do when emotions are involved and I guess gamblers rushing to win back the loss evolve to addiction as they tried.

Most times it could be as a result of frustration. It could possibly be he was given a game to play and decided to use a money meant for something else to gamble and along the line the slip had to cut out of anxiety and FOMO the gambler might decide to try his luck with what he has at home most especially when the money at hand was meant to solve a pressing issue. It's really not easy to get out of this situation and if the gambler has no one to rescue such at that time might gamble till his last dime.

One of the signs of gambling addiction as with other addiction that I know of is withdrawal symptoms. The gamblers will experience anxiety, muscle tension, nausea and a lot of other negative psychological as well as physiological characteristics. If the urge to gamble is not quickly satisfied it might result in other negative vices such as theft in the case where the individual has no money to foot this lifestyle. However, I must say that the signs and symptoms of gambling addiction exist on a continuum. It ranges from Mild to severe . At the mild stage the sign of the addiction is not as worse as the severe stage where psychological or clinical help might be the last resort. Do note the withdrawal symptoms pointed out above is found in the moderate to severe stage.

Yes, that is stupid. But I only think about people who have a debt to other people and have been chased because of paying the borrowed money and the interest to play gambling. They could only think that suicide will be the way for them to avoid those people and set them free from all of the trouble. It is all starts with a little problem but we do not realize that because we never introspect about what we already did. Yes, controlling our emotions will be another way to avoid the addiction.

That kind of pressures can move people to commit suicide.

Having problem with the way you think due to your gambling addiction, once you've been after by those people who lend you money.

The only thing to escape without any worries is to end up your life, instead of hiding those people thinks that there's no other way anymore, escaping all the problems including their addiction to gambling by means of suicide.
That kind of feeling where people are coming after you because of the debts you have with them. That is the feeling or the thing that I don't want to happen to me personally and that is one of the reason why I don't gamble too much or specifically not borrowing money to other people just to gamble.

When you got too many debt already and you lost all of that money, that is a double problem for you and most of them really leads to suicide which is quite unfortunate TBH. It can be prevented if you seek immediate help, learn to move on and focus on paying on your debts. Life is very precious. Don't finish your life just because of the debts that you have.

Recently, more and more people began to talk about gambling addiction.  As I know, in some countries this addiction is recognized as a mental illness like alcoholism or drug addiction.  But we are talking of course about the countries of the "golden billion" and not about countries with a weak economy, where no one is seriously concerned about the problem of gambling addiction of a particular person.  As I think it would be right to introduce a separate medical specialty for the treatment of gambling addiction.  And somewhere this is already being practiced.  And probably to contribute to the creation of "clubs of anonymous gamers", by analogy with the clubs of former alcoholics, as they do in USA.  And the problem of suicide due to gambling addiction certainly exists.

I agree with you... A specialist who practices with patients with gambling addiction is very rare! I have never heard of such doctors... I guess in big cities there really is a need for such specialists!

I have always developed a strong resistance against addictions that is why I try as much a possible to stay away from gambling, but this day I found gambling to be fun and only do that in my free time and only on sites that offer free games without having to deposit. I lent to gamble can make people addicted to doing unthinkable things like taking loans to gamble with.

Those people feel alone and no one cares about him, especially when he has a problem with gambling addiction so he commits suicide. It feels not better if we have been after those people who lend us money because they will do anything until we pay that money. Hopefully, people will not think shortly about suicide and will search for other ways to pay the money and change their lives better. But they must ask for help from other people to get them out of that.
