I can tell you from my own experience - sometimes I bet on important football matches, for example the Champions League, or the European Championships... It is not greed or addiction, it is the urge to do something with the money in your spare time unless you have another plan for a day. In case of boredom, you will hunt for opportunity in the live betting websites and try to chase the betting event for boosting your profit. In rare cases, the more we play the more profit we get, the addiction can be worse if you keep donating to casinos every week.

I suggest the moderators on chat to change name of deposit to donation since we barely withdraw more than what we deposit on casinos. If the struggle is real for weeks, I will go for self-exclusion and will not try to break the rules I set to avoid huge losses.

The only sign that we need to acknowledge it is they are always thinking about gambling,
Thinking about strategy profit or even when could they gamble,
If they are already thinking too much about gambling then they are already addicted to it.
This is not really enough, after all a person could be thinking a great deal of their free time about gambling but as long they are playing professionally and they are making money over the long term then we cannot say they are addicted and we will have to say that they are just dedicated to their job, those that are truly addicted to gambling not only are thinking all the time about it but a have a compulsion to play regardless of any other circumstance in their lives putting it above all things including their families.

this happens to me before . i dreamed of betting and then winning the jackpot but later i woked up and realized its only just a dream .
i felt so bad but dreaming of creating a strategy ? that was crazier but both of this two is a sign of getting addicted to gambling because your over thinking of it the whole day or you have been gambling all day .
this is not healthy anymore and we need to minimize our gambling activity before it gets worst
I don't think that it's going to be that you have a problem, it's normal to dream about especially if you're really gambling, does the dream make you impede or drain you? If not then you don't have to worry about anything because you are probably not suffering from addiction unless there's more to it than what you aren't saying in this forum.
This is also one of the reasons of being addicted to gambling, a gambler will always thinks he can win the jackpot or win big someday thus continue to try and gamble with every available funds irrespective of the source of the money after exhausting all their money and had become bankrupt they may resort to other means of sourcing for money either by stealing, borrowing or selling of personal properties, in that situation such a gambler addiction has blown out of proportion in that state need an urgent attention.

I think that if a person is at least minimally socialized, then he will definitely receive a signal that his gambling addiction is destroying his life. This information can be provided to him by relatives, work colleagues or neighbors. How he will perceive this information is another question, if he ignores it, this means only his conscious choice.
I guess his relatives, work colleagues or neighbors will feel that he slowly becomes an addiction but he might do not think much about that and only accept what they say. If he can introspect about what is happening to himself, that is good for you. Otherwise, he will still play gambling without listening to their relatives. However, some of those people can turn back to the right path and can realize that they have a bad habit that slowly destroys their lives and never come back again to gambling.

Yes, a person's ability to correctly understand the signals from the outside world is very important. If his wife tells him that some habit (not necessarily gambling) begins to negatively affect their family life and the gambler ignores such information, then this is a serious problem. And, by the way, the root cause of these problems is often incomprehensible - gambling or problems in the family that encourage someone from the family to go into some kind of addiction in order to get distracted.

That's the problem of some, because of their ego or pride, even so many people are already telling them about their addiction, they won't accept it, because for them, their bad habit is just normal, nothing to be worry about, but that's not true. Gambling addiction is a real problem, especially if you have your own family already, as a father or a mother, you should both act as a good example to your children, give them everything they need, provide their daily needs, and raise them well, not let them see you getting addicted to Gambling.

Most of the time people with that pride or ego have a false sense of self, If they're gambling with the money they can afford to lose then it's all good but the moment they get into gambling with the attitude "I'll double or triple my salary through gambling every time" Then that's the problem!, with gambling you cannot do that every time.

The gambling phenomenon in my area has so far increased tremendously and I can almost find gamblers everywhere I go. It is not about gambling which is generally played on the site, but it is a slot game which can be downloaded from the playstore where chips are one of the things required to be able to play it. I have seen them very addicted to that slot game because I can see them playing anywhere indefinitely. Only 1 in 10 of my friend haven't played this slot, and I can confirm that 9 of them are so addicted to it and keep thinking about it all the time. This is an unexpected symptom of addiction where any gambling activity in my country is illegal.

There are many behavioral change from players ranging from lack of sleep to getting into debt just to make end meet playing games. It is clear that they have become addicted to slots and it looks like it will be difficult to control before they have completely lost everything.

Then you are good enough to play gambling because you have something that many has not and that is self control mate and this is the most important thing a gambler must have.

The truth is, I can't always control myself anyway... For example, when I make a multi bet, I still sometimes look at odds that look attractive to me, but I know nothing about these teams, and sometimes I add an event to a bet... This has often been a fatal mistake!

Failing and trying again its another way of getting addicted, when you lose a bet take your some time off betting.
Betting few games as well less odds with a higher staking power is Good for the start, gambling ain't bad when you strategies and plan properly, know when to bet,how to bet and what funds you use to bet.
Proper Discipline will help carry all of this.

I don't think it's greed? Though it could be a reason, but hey, you may just want to expand and try out other sports/events. It's nothing really new tbh, even I sometimes want to bet on eSports games that I don't really know, just because, well, I want to. Greed is a warning sign for addiction yes, but wanting to try out betting in other events doesn't seem to actually be one, nor does it equate to greed.

I agree. That is not greed or a sign of addiction but a simple recklessness.  Grin
You took a risk as you bet on a feeling rather than the odds. If it was greed, we can safely say that all gamblers are greedy! However, that would not be true.

OP, there are many signs that appear when you are addicted to gambling and most of them are so familiar to us in general that I don't think to repeat them just for you after many others have answered them first. The signs of addiction in my opinion can be categorized into 2 parts and the first part is a sign of addiction that can still be removed easily and the second is a sign of addiction that is very difficult to get rid of.

If your gambling frequency is only 1-2 times a month, then you still have signs of addiction that can be eliminated with control and other more profitable things. But if you continue to gamble every day then it will be difficult to control while your desire to recover losses has pushed you not to stop. Making loans, selling valuables and taking child or family savings (stealing them) are signs that a person has experienced a severe level of addiction.

The problem is not on the odds, it's on our attitude to control ourselves, so it's very important for us to be discipline and learn how to accept losses and learn to just gamble according to our limit only. In addition, it's important that we remain realistic as it's very important in managing the risk.

Precisely! and that's kills a lot inside us, the urgency that we wanted to keep trying to win back those
money from our capital that we losses in a match, thinking that you almost win it,

That kind of attitude already a good sign to stop and try re-arrange everything inside you. Failing to do so,
for sure it will lead you to gambling addictions.

And most of the time, that kind of aggressions put you in the very risky stand financially and mentally.

Gamblers don't realize they are addicted to gambling until it's worse which they've done unthinkable already like breaking the piggybank of his kid just so he could gamble again. But you as a gambler can also notice it to yourself before you get to the worse situation like selling valuables like jewelry so you could play again.

Is seeking a new strategy or thinking of betting while you are sleeping signs of addiction? If not, what are little signs that unfold you are becoming a gambling addict?

If it has already got to the point where you steal from your own child or sell jewellery from yourself or someone else just to be able to pay your next bet, then in my opinion it is already much too late to counteract, because then great damage has already been done. My first strategy to avoid happening stuff like that is to set yourself a limit of how much money you can and want to spend on gambling every week or every month without having any impact on your daily life and once that limit is reached you need to be disciplined and don't risk more money. That is the critical point, if you say "Ok only 50$ more but then that's it" that's the first step into an addiction in my opinion.

no theres nothing more that i hide and no it doesnt drain my energy because my sleep was continous .
i will only wake up in the middle of the night and hardly go back to sleep if im i dream of something scary  . maybe im not really an addict ? because addicted person have a problem with their sleep.
there are addicted gamblers here in my place and they dont sleep at night.  this is dangerous and one of the gambler have died already.

It's natural that we actually wake up in the middle of the night dreaming of something scary, many people experience it. But try to sleep again,
because enough sleep is very important for the health of our bodies. If you often wake up in the middle of the night thinking too much about
gambling strategies, it is possible that you are addicted to gambling. But if you wake up just dreaming scary things it's not a sign of addiction.
One of the signs that people are addicted to gambling, usually they have trouble sleeping because they think too much about how to win gambling.
Or every time I wake up in the middle of the night always playing gambling and not going back to sleep, this is also a sign that you are addicted
to gambling.

it's nice if we really experience gambling and it's also nice if we experience making mistakes and we reflect and learn from it. Gambling is bad for the eyes of some people, but they should not generalized because gambling is an entertainment, it's a business, it's only bad if as a gambler you don't have the discipline because these gambling operators are paying taxes so they help the economy.

That's normal, we can think of our fantasies without taking any action and for those people that are thinking of gambling most of the time, we're not sure if they're even taking some actions. They can think as much as they can but we will never know if they're gambling actually.

If they are already thinking too much about gambling then they are already addicted to it.
In a sense yes and to say that they're truly addicted to gambling, they're combining it with actions.

I am sure a wife will see if something wrong happens to his husband because his wife is the closest person to that man. So she will suggest he stop gambling or his wife will try to distract his husband if he wants to go out. A good and wise wife will do many things to prevent his husband involve in gambling because that can give a bad side for their family and maybe his wife will give another solution that his husband never think before.

Yes, a strong family can save a person from many problems. It is a pity that in the modern world the family is gradually collapsing, or simply people find it difficult to find their soulmates and being alone in life easily succumb to the influence of negative factors. Although I cannot say that gambling or alcohol is a negative factor, it is rather their abuse.

An addiction is a mental illness, and the major indication of an addiction is a lack of control. Unfortunately, many are more addicted to gambling more than they are willing to admit to.
This. Greed and lack of control basically go hand in hand when it comes to gambling, and it's pretty much a sign that dictates that you're closer to being addicted than you actually think so. Greed basically is the one that controls you and not really you, and that should already be a notice to yourself.
