The first reality is that a gambling addict never realizes that is he sick, only when he has hit bottom, that bottom is intrinsic to the person, individual and only detected by third parties.

Now, for those of us who are "healthy" it is even good to have certain rules to follow to avoid falling into dependence on the game and ending up in addiction mode, the first one I would recommend is that you stay away from a casino for a long time months and if You can years. If you can do it you're a healthy guy.

The best thing that can be done and by the way there are several threads here in the forum that deal with this topic, is not to be such a lonely wolf, you should always be in contact with another person in the real world who knows about your hobby, entertainment or someone knows what you like to gamble, this person can realize your bad habits, which for you can be normal.

We are all addicts! Some people are addicted to one or two things, some of us are in +10! And that's fine... as long as we know how much we can handle!

Simply, if you love to eat eggs you should know that excessive egg consumption can lead to elevated cholesterol levels! That can ruin your body completely! Too much gambling can empty your bankroll, too much drinking can fuck your body and brain... the same is with coffee, meat, TV, games... all good things can fuck you up if you are not careful, even pussy can fuck you up if you don't know what you are doing!

So don't try to run from something you like, learn how to control it and how to enjoy it without being harmed in the long run... if you want something to last you have to know how to position yourself, what can you afford to lose/give, and what you are searching to get/receive/win! And remember, it's not like it's going to be smoothly every time... you can gamble and lose... you can drink too much and puke/make a mess, you can fuck and you can get some disease! Only with experience, you can recognize situations that can fuck you up/can be a great time! And when you get to experience it's not like a good time is guaranteed, it's just that you know what you can handle even if things go sideways! You knew what you are getting into, you risked and you failed... so what? Tomorrow is another day!

What more can I say? It is really on yourself if you will get addicted to something. No one can limit your activity but yourself. So no one is to blame but yourself from the time you decide to be addicted in gambling. There are initial signs and if you ignore those signs, you will go deeper up until it is hard to get out of the situation. You need to look out for yourself so if you feel you are heading to the wrong direction, initiate the change. Because no one will do it for you.
You would really be ending up on those consequences if you do really let yourself get down or hooked with addiction since we arent that dumb, we can really detect ourselves to be already gradually addicted along the way.

You can feel or see the signs but yourself would really be continuing to deny it since no one does really ever like to be called a gambling addict until the time comes that everything was already in mess.

and this is where people do start to realize that they had spend that much but its already too late to make some action.

Simple to see that "there are better things to do" but when you are suffering from an addiction you don't have the mental stability to realize and follow such advice. You just feel like avoiding everything and just gamble whenever you get the time and get any funds from anywhere.

Precisely! once you are already addicted your engagement to gambling changed everything inside you, your mental focus are all about your gambling activities and you already forget about other things that supposedly part of your everyday cycle.

Quote
I guess we all have seen a gambling addict in real life or online world and you must have observed their end goal of life is just to gamble, sometimes even if they get a bonus salary or something they won't be as delighted as they are from gambling winnings.

yeah right, gambling addicted person only cares about his gambling activities and nothing else.

Quote
Gambling is meant for fun but once that fun becomes the only activity that satisfied you, it is a problem. It is wisely said that engage yourself in multiple things and don't let a single activity occupy you completely.

That single activity that occupy your entire brain activities will lead you to a worse things happened to your life, addiction once you already attached if very hard to clean up from your system.

Yes.
It's already affecting your mental health and instead of taking time for you to rest, you're thinking of what's the next step that you must as you gamble.
Is it happening to you OP?
This is true, this is the design when you can now call yourself an addict, you dont have time to rest anymore because of thinking and focused on gambling only, dont be like that there are so many things worthier do than focusing on gambling, you will just lose your money and social life on that.
It is quite simple to see that "there are better things to do" but when you are suffering from an addiction you don't have the mental stability to realize and follow such advice. This is a sign of any addiction, not just gambling. This can happen if a person is a shopaholic or is fond of tuning his car or racing a car (this requires a huge investment). Therefore, if we are talking about the unique signs of gambling addiction, then we must talk about the signs that are only here.

All kinds of addiction are all the same their minds are preoccupied, they spend more time and money on things where they have an addiction, if we are talking about unique addiction maybe talking about cards, bets, odds most of the time, but all addiction are very similar and they have almost the same symptoms and signs and those who know addiction on things can easily tell.

I do not agree with you. I have heard opinions (scientific research) that gambling addiction is of a different nature than others (alcohol, drugs, etc.). It is based on the fact that in the past, people were hunters (predators) and if the prey was already close, then with their last strength they continued to pursue it. This state is successfully simulated in gambling (winning is close) and thus a person becomes addicted and plays to the end.

Correct, however we must recognize that many addictions present similar symptoms, with probably the most important being that whatever the person is addicted to is the priority number one on their lives displacing whatever was at the top for them at the time, this is when the addiction is at the most dangerous stage as the person will most likely do anything in order to keep their addiction going and this can have lasting consequences especially if they commit a crime in order to keep their addiction going on.

Is seeking a new strategy or thinking of betting while you are sleeping signs of addiction? If not, what are little signs that unfold you are becoming a gambling addict?
Of course, what is called gambling addiction is when it interferes with your normal activities...

if you play gambling after your child sleeps then that doesn't include you being addicted, but if you open your child's savings, play gambling until you don't know the time until your work is interrupted then you fall into the gambling addiction.

When you are losing money and you get irritated this is a serious sign of gambling addiction, gambling has more losing streak than a winning streak and when you have a losing streak you'll get depressed and will suffer financial difficulty, you will not get depressed if you are making money from gambling, your whole mind is on how to recover all your losses.
Some people also borrow money when they are in financial distress to gamble with the mindset of recovering their losses. And many end up losing, which results into depression. You can't get depressed when winning, the whole problem starts when you keep losing. Been addicted to gambling is a bad experience, which takes time and determination to get out of.

I think this is a normal reaction of loser mate , even not addicted will feel this way when they are continuously losing right?

But the way they seek money over and over again to sustain His losing streak ? that is the sign of addiction.

Correct.

But this kind of habit will lead to addiction. When you're irritated or disappointed, you will take your revenge (winning back your money) or you will continue to try and try it again until you get what you wanted, and that's gonna blind you. You will slowly going to be addicted on it without you noticing, because you think you're just playing just like the usual, but the usual thing you do is the sign that you're addicted to it already.

Time after time, the effects on it to you would become worst, that's the only time you'll realize that you dived too deep in gambling.

I am very familiar with both depression and gambling addiction. Depressed people can only improve their emotional state with the help of medical professionals or antidepressants or they are doomed to suffer all their lives. No one has ever beaten depression by going to a casino.
I know that and I am not trying to say that casinos can cure depression, what I was trying to say is that depressed people find ways to have some sort of rush felt inside them and at the same time have self destructive behavior and gambling can cater both am I right?

The signs of addiction are no different in gambling than with any other addictive substance or habit. The key is control - if you are not in control of what you are doing that is an addiction. For example, you know you have to pay you gas bill, instead you cross by a gambling shop and bet that money on a race. It does not matter if you win or loose, you obviously are not in control of your priorities and should be considered as addict.

There are different degrees of addiction, not everyone is in danger. Some people will do stupid things but not often enough to cause them long term problems. Some other, and I met a few in my life, will simply spend every cent on their addictions. These cases, curiously enough, are very easy to detect, as opposed to the mild ones, that should also be treated.
Easy to say to have a control but that's really hard to do especially when you actually do it. We should stop saying that the key to fight addiction is control because it's not entirely true and if it was, then probably we should've seen less cases of addictions in any form. Even if the degree isn't dangerous, we still have to treat and if you think about it, it's better if we were to treat it while it's early.

How do you treat addiction on your own?

Cases like if someone has this addiction but doesnt want their family members to know what goes on in the head of this guy. Say he doesn't want to be judged by his sis/brothers because its definitely going to be a troublesome when family members gets in. Its speads like wildfire to members.

You are deeply mistaken because in a state of depression a person loses interest in absolutely all hobbies and is constantly in a depressed state. If a person is happy to spend his free time at an online casino, it is not a depression but a game addiction that can also depress a person if there is no opportunity to play.
Dude, you are seeing it one sided for depression. Not everyone who has a depression loses interest in things, some don't even show they're depressed. That's why I said that it's like a depression and addiction combination. Gambling gives a sudden rush and depressed people always wants to find a way for them to get that rush.

To tell you honestly, I haven't been into addiction but there's a situation that I might fall into addiction. The only thing that made me realize that it's not good was my depleting savings while working as a person earning through my hardwork. It's not easy to handle pressures, so I kept myself resistive towards gambling because it ruined my financial stability.
That is important because when you work hard for the money you gamble, you will rue losing even a cent because you know how hard you had to work for earning it. I realized this as I grow up from a careless kid to a responsible father, it was easy to spend the money we used to get from parents and even complain about it but now I understand how hard it must be for them to even offer me that much.

Coming back to gambling though, if you feel you are spending too much just take a break and find something else which captivates you. Gambling addiction isn't that big of a problem if you realize it at the right time and take small measures to prevent it from getting severe. Although if you let it go and your addiction becomes severe, it is as bad as drugs.

Wouldn't really ask an addict to set a bankroll, I'd point him into a therapist instead (if said addict wasn't really my friend) tbh. They turned into an addict since they couldn't follow simple rules, so why would I set new ones for them no?
I have a friend who is addicted to gambling and a few days ago I took him to a psychiatrist and he was really mad at me so to this day he doesn't want to talk to me anymore, from experience it made me think if it's not easy for us to interfere it's quite a sensitive thing and becomes a pleasure for him (our friend), so I think for now it's better to just shut up and let him do what he likes so that when he gets really cornered so he needs my help and that's when I will commemorate him if addicted to gambling will be able to destroy it.
