What do you guys think about these cards for mining:

Palit GeForce GTX 1080Ti Super Jetstream
Palit GeForce GTX 1080Ti Jetstream

The Jetstream is 81$ cheaper than the Super Jetstream.

Super just means factory overclocked slightly higher, for $81 its not worth it. Same cooler. Beware that Palit returns take a long time, and only 2 year warranty.

how much a month for that space

2k/mo - I'm paying roughly 2k/mo for residential electric so saving 1k in electric off the bat, 1k overheard for the space essentially just makes sense.

What's your electricity cost per kwh and size of the unit?

0.10/kw 1500ft2 not the greatest in the US but for LA it's the best I can do.

Residential I'm on SoCal Edison which is tiered and tier 3 is 0.32/kw - outrageous.

Just got a text from a friend to rent out 1/2 the space for storage so I'm down to 750ft, so the space is now paying for itself from the electric savings Smiley Told him it'll be month to month so depending on expansion his stuff will have to go as I need room Smiley

Still expanding all the way. I am flying to my farm with 54 more 1070ti. Probably getting another 50 after setting up. Holding equal value in coins and rigs. With the recent rise in eth I have a surplus of coins waiting to be converted to rigs. Maybe I'll stop expansion 2 months before volta.

However I am not the biggest fan of dagger hashimoto (eth) mining because of potential POS switch and big farms are mining it. Unlikely eth will become more profitable than shitcoins and small cap coins that nvidia does well at. I just buy hold eth instead.  I have enough 1080ti to hash small caps, now getting some equihash optimized cards (1070ti).

For 13 gpu rig, 570 4gb and 1060 3gb has the fastest payback period. I'm not sure if it's possible to run 13x vega yet.

I made a big call today - sold 90% of coins and bought more GPU's.

Right now I'm 'even' cash wise with $20k in equip.

I hear this logic , but those big farms will all switch equihash anyways when POS happens , might as well get the cheapest cards.

two 570s can do the work of 1 1070ti for a lower price
$225 per card

never understood why people buy cards that cost near $600

Nvidia is a lot less work with half to a third of rigs to manage using 1070ti/1080ti. With ccminer it is very easy to mine small caps too. It's also more efficient, more hash power within the same electricity limit. Only 40KW to use per shoplot I rent, maximising hash per shoplot is best with nvidia.

With limited time to manage it's better for me to optimize for 1 type of cards. If I have Polaris + Vega + Nvidia it's triple the effort to optimize. I sold most my vega cards and will be selling the remainder soon. The few polaris cards I have are going to perma mine ETH for hodling. This way I will focus fully on nvidia and coin switching for them.

However I can understand the appeal of polaris. A large farm with employees or a person with a lot of time will make more money with polaris.

I switched to nvidia more hash per watt more hash per mobo.

Zec will go over 1000 by spring , btc may drop and stay at the 17000 level and bcc will rise.

I am just about capped for the garage at 20 amps. I can do. 25 to 26 amps in the winter .

If heat isn't a huge issue you could always just throw a sub panel in Phil - it's what I had my electrician do, I had him install 3 30A breakers in my garage to run my personal miners, going back I would have done 220 instead of 110 but it worked out so no biggie.

Good news is FINALLY got the keys to the new warehouse so expansion and build out can begin! I believe it's a 300A 220v but I didn't see much, there was no power in there we just did a quick walk through so will be setting up electric and scheduling internet in the morning. Most likely will be mining off wifi since power should be up a few weeks before internet.

Looks like nicehash will be back tomorrow

they owe me about 1000 usd

I had 3 accounts

Looking forward to their revival... they owe me big time.

Meanwhile, my SHA256 rigs are now 25% BTC and 75% BCH.

Posting this abroad, cant wait to work on the Vega rigs when I am back home in a weeks time.

Merry Christmas to all Cryptonauts !

...

That nice 50+ % increase in bch being added to coinbase would be a nice holiday present then Smiley

NEO and QTUM gave me an early Christmas and New Year present a few days ago  Grin

I'm sort of glad that they're back, but I'm mostly waiting to see if they will have done something to do payouts more frequently and hopefully in a different coin that has lower fees. They need to either do that, or refund lost money to everyone to get me very interested. It's not that big of a deal for my wife's farm either way since we're more then able to do our own trading etc... but for a couple of less capable family members of ours that are doing some very small scale mining, Nicehash was pretty essential to them.

I just realized I have no clue what brand of Nvidia cards are good for mining. Could you recommend some? ^^
Which brand got the best fans? Lifespan of these cards is crucial Cheesy

Avoid Gigabyte cards with sleeve bearing fans. I've had to RMA 5 of the cards below in 5 months of mining because the fan either stopped completely or started going haywire e.g. stopping and starting, erratically changing speed etc. They are in a low dust, ~20 degrees C ambient environment and mostly ran <60% fan speed.

There are some tuts around on how to replace the bearings but there's no point on cards still under warranty. I think I'll sell mine on and migrate to a model with more durable fans so keen to hear recommendations too!

Any issues you know of with the aorus 1080ti fans?

yeah i have six gigabyte cards sitting around that need to be rmaed right now

EVGA by far has the best quality and warranty combined.

I have found replacement fans on amazon for a relatively cheap price.

Recently I bought these for my old GTX980 that's fans were completely seized by the time the replacements arrived, and had them removed and external fans blowing on the card to keep it under 80*c.....

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4L4V7L

All I did was remove the offending fan(s) and search the part number on its rear sticker.
