I got 2 miner crashes that needed to be manually restarted.

Also I call bullshit on the algo switching, I made less with the multi algo switching that mining straight lyrarev2.

I did a full 24 hour test run and calculated the BTC per Mh/s -

Sniffdog was only .005 mBTC/Mh/s which came out to .0021 BTC for 400 MH/s - now according to the profit switcher, ever single coin was always over $45-70/day so MINIMUM earned should have been 0.0031 BTC which it failed miserably.

Cool program and all, but profit switching 100% did not work to increase profits, it actually decreased them by 30%

Interesting findings. Currently using Nemos on 2 rigs and I'm not seeing the expected profits either.

I’m seeing like 40c off prediction per card per day for the past 5 days using sniff

Thanks moondoggie - how many cards are you using - I only dedicated 6 1080 Ti's to it -
Also my switch timing was 5min.

Earnings were just super low.

Switch timing of 5 mins is super short imo. It takes a miner from 10 - 30 seconds to start mining and if the top profit coin keeps changing you could be having a lot of downtime.

Personally I keep it at one algo, if something's more profitable by 20% or more I manually switch and check once a day.

Phill,

I know you and your friend are building up the solar project for mining...

A little something my accountant has brought to my attention to try and better my taxes, since it seems im going to take a killing in taxes with the amount of BTC i earned this year...She was telling me that if you mount the computers to the house/building in a way you cant easily just pick them up, the rigs would fall under the guidelines of a fixture, so you can take advantage of tax laws associated with home fixtures in regards to writeoffs, deductions, and such...

Basically she is telling me to turn my rigs into fixtures going forward, then purchase all new gear under the LLC that is associated with that property i own... that way the business can claim the earnings of the mining gear and you can use more deductions to offset the income to place more in my own pocket.

She said something as simple as a small building (shed build) secured and built to code with the mining gear would allow me to continue to rent out properties and claim the earnings under those same properties, so something to think about with your solar project going forward.

How is everyone,

Spent the weekend digging a 2 ft deep trench to lay the 200ft of pex line in my backyard over the weekend. Just booted up the rig on distilled water and started it up mining... Currently i have zero radiators or fans in the circuit on 6 x 1080ti's.

6 x 1080ti's (already had)
6 x Barrow GPU Blocks $53.99ea
12 x G1/4 ABS barbed fittings $3.88 per bag of 6
1 x 960 gallons/hr 120v pump $55.99
1 x Water Pressure Reducing/dump valve set to 15psi $28.99
250ft of pex line

So far its running stable on temps, gonna run it for a few days to see if temps start to heat soak the ground. The pump i may change back to gravity fed system, i really dislike the amount of power being drawn on the pump with it pumping against so much resistance and dumping the majority of the water back into the system.

This could be really good if you were looking to put in radiant heat. And then shift to a swimming pool during the summer.

I am quite happy with the Evga hybrids in my garage noise level is low and basement  den tv room is good.

Ya, if this watercooling idea works out, i plan to buy already manufactured watercooled cards going forward. The amount of OC you can pull out of the cards once you get temps down below 50c is just insane nice..., i bought 2 hybrid 1080ti's a while back, but they were damaged in the hurricane bs, just have not bought anymore since.. they worked out well, but boy did those radiators run stinking hot.. but the cards stayed in the high 50's

Your project is very interesting. Are you in an area that is warmer in the winter months? Here where we live I believe the lines would freeze if the rigs were shut off at any point in the winter, perhaps if we buried them deeper it would be safe.

Yes, i live in Florida....so i dont have to deal with the issues of pipes freezing on me, also if the pipe layout i placed isnt enough, i can easily grow and add more length to the field or add radiators and fans to help. I am unsure how this setup will fair in the summer time with the heat of the day along with more rigs. I am just testing out a concept. I know of people on the watercooling forum that build passive cooled twitch gaming rigs without much issue, so i figured i would give it a try for the mining rigs. I just have poor ventilation in my new house i bought recently in the garage, it has no windows at all, but its located in a area i really like living in and the price was just to good to pass on, so i am trying to figure out a way to manage temps better with the rigs in my garage. Ultimately i am shopping around for land to purchase cheap that already has like a trailer home electric already impacted on the land, so i can place a shipping container on the property and move my mining business mostly out of my home. The geothermal cooling field may move onto my personal gaming rig in the future once i move my mining rigs out.

I need to let this run for a little bit and work out the bugs as i go, a few things im a little unsure about.. the pump i am using is running a little warmer than i expected due to the restriction of trying to force the water through the GPU's @15psi and then dumping excess pressure out the dump valve, i may need to figure out a better way of going about it or maybe use some sort of expansion tank and a pressure switch possibly... idk really yet. The pump is pulling roughly 53watts currently....

For coolant im using generic off the shelf distilled water with a gallon of isoproyl alcohol added and a whole house generic water filter on the exit of the water pump to try and keep particles out of the gpu blocks.

I was about to trash my D3 into the South China seas..... but with DASH this good - all the cubes are hashing away mining DASH.

Isn't DeepOnion the coin to be mining on Baikals?

Bitmain D3 only does X11 coins.

DeepOnion uses X13 like Bitcoin Diamond.

Older Baikal models like Minis, Quad and 900MH Giants can do X13 in addition to X11, Qubit, Quark etc.

The newer Baikals like X10 doesnt support X13 algos.

I got a Baikal Giant 2000MH that was super profitable on X13 via nicehash. Since the hack I use zpool.ca but it makes very little.. any better options?
I hope NH comes back soon.

+1 on this. Windows based, dev updates miners, coins and pools quickly (and is quick to fix any issues), flexible monitoring, same price as smos…

I'm thinking of fixing some fans behind the Vegas to push some air between them (plugged onto that Onda D1800, the six Vegas are very close and heating eachother up). What should I go for? Scythe Slip Stream seem to have the best airflow... Will 3x 120mm do the trick?

use these as they are better  you will move over 400 cfm  using under 25 watts nothing is more effienct

and use these to protect the blades and your fingers

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y20QI0K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

working on the spotswood   build  I will be needing parts but it is nice so far.
Cheers Phil, these do look quite fast and furious. Will likely get 3 of those after xmas when I have time to do some modding again.
I reckon they will push more air through the GPUs than that single 12" desk fan aimed at the rig. At least the airflow should be more targeted.

I think this is a classic case of "this post is worthless without pics"!
Cheesy

Go on, show us your diy project, I'm curious to see what you have done!

Personally I have a water-chiller for my PC, but for the mining rigs it just wouldn't make sense...

Fwiw - I was a windows only guy. But phil and a few others here talking about smos all the time has me converted.  The only problem with smos is no wifi. Which I have a few rigs on wifi to spread them out throughout my house.

You could switch to power line adapters.  Wifi can be problematic with random deadzones and electromagnetic interference from GPU's.

What's the big sell of Simple Mining over say nvOC?

simple mining  allows me world wide access via his website.

easy to manage as I have gear in multiple sites.

I now run:

5 rigs with buysolar and the solar array
3 rigs with my buddy Ira at his office
 5 rigs in my garage

26 a month  for next to perfect control

since I am mining about .6 zec a day  or 18 zec  a month .

I can pay the fees for ease of management.

Since buysolar is building a 3 stage of expansion array  about 75 minutes from our homes.

We will need ease of management  that smos provides.  we may do 17kwatts then 34kwatts then 51kwatts

that is about 17 rigs then 34 rigs then 51 rigs  over the next 2 years

nvOC  is free  but it is more difficult  to set up  access and switching and rig restarts.

if you have 1 location with under 5 rigs nvOC is fine.

Just want to say thanks for the detailed post above with regards to SmOS and windows requirements for than motherboard.

I currently run Windows only and don't have any issues. What would you say is the biggest drawback to SmOS? My concern is the speed of updates on miners. As currently I can compile new miners myself.

I tried the smos hype and there are plenty of drawbacks, but if it helps some people that's great.

Some pros -
Update rigs remotely - but you can do the same with windows and nodes installed so TIE
Update GPU settings via web portal - you can also do this with other miner monitors but they offer better miners and configuration, so no point actually for smos
GPUs did appear as soon as the rig booted, windows does sometimes make me install GPU's 1 at a time, also win update is slow AF dl'ing windows drivers needed.
I guess being able to run off a USB stick is a pro.

Cons -
smos is slow AF updating miners, they still don't have Alexis78 to this day. That's pretty pathetic. regular ccminer gets 300 Mh/s VS. 360 Mh/s on Alexis. That's huge.
smos doesn't have wifi
smos doesn't have alerts like other monitors, even a simple .bat file can give you telegram alerts for temps etc.
smos doesn't allow you to easily install your own miners, you are stuck with what they give you and smos is slow AF doing any updates.

At the end of the day, I gave it a week to impress me but the smos hype for me was just that.

I don't know what all these problems people say they have with windows is being unstable etc, but I literally have zero problems with my windows rigs. I'm familiar with windows, it allows more customization, functions, miners, settings, configs and options.

I only have 10 rigs ATM so maybe my views will change when I finally get in the warehouse and expand. I doubt it though.

windows  simply needs more care then smos.

but  windows will allow more coins and al-gore-rhythms  then smos will.

and some mobos will  help windows issues as will some mobos will  hurt windows issues.

for bulk mining  like I do with say 27000-29000 sols  of zec in 3 soon to be 4 places smos is better then windows.

but if you do an exotic shit coin  windows is more likely to be able to do it.

I have been able to find a good coin  and send  hash  to it on windows  for months.

they are smaller hash rates so pointing say  3 1070's and 2 1080 tis  will do well.

pointing all the gear does not.

So I will keep windows around.

lmao... i got a good chuckle from your "Al-Gore" reference lol... good stuff!  And lest we all forget... AlGore not only invented the Internet, he also invented the entire CryptoCurrency ecosystem and is actually the REAL Satoshi Nakamoto ;-)
