OK I think found the problem? I had forwarded the port in my router, but I updated the rule from the one I had for QQBcoin, and only changed the internal port! So my router was forwarding BBQcoin stuff from the external port 59333 to the smallchange client! People must still have had my IP in the bbq network and were trying to connect to me.
This explains a lot, why my blockchain kept thinking it was much larger, the 60+ connections etc. I wonder if I mined any BBQcoins to my smallchange address!? haha!

Too many coins, doh!

Strange, I'm pretty sure if said it had ~60 connections
To me it seems impossible. I never got more than ~10 connections with SMC, typically 6~8.
Considering that in the last couple of days there has been a max. total of ~15 active clients, 60 connections are unlikely. Sure it has been SMC and not some other coin?

noyvpom  suddenly realizes he has 2000 Bitbars...

If I had 2000 BTB I'd change that straight to BTC in a second! But something is strange, I definitly had ~50+ connections at one point. Now I started my client, it says it's at 24% downloading 89010 / 348690 blocks!
It also says I have 521 transactions, but only ~1k coins. (all transactions except 3 are mining ones)

Is it possible its connecting to another coin network somehow and getting confused?

GeistGeld uses 15 second blocks I think. That or 10 seconds. I think it is 15 seconds though as I think 10 seconds was already determined to be too fast to work well.

GG && TBX used 15s blocks.

Someone just sent me 1.234 coins, so I guess I'm on the correct blockchain, and things are working now. (although I went to send the 1.234 back, but the from address is 'unknown'?)

Was me  Smiley
If you want to help populate the block chain with transactions, my address is:
S938LjmBPRTMYdE7cqnCpy9mzBZqwcu32Y

Why it says "unknown"? See 8 posts prior to yours, I posted something exactly about this!

You are limited to 8 connections if you are behind NAT, but if you forward the ports like I have,  it will go up to, I think, 125. I have 40 atm (I set it to 1024 in the conf on another coin once to see how many I could get, but that just crashed the client Smiley

surely it's not possible to mine the block chain on your own, without confirming it with an actual network!? Is that client still up to date?
I might be wrong but I thought you can do it. That you don't need other clients confirmation. That's why also you have a small advantage to mine block n+1 if you mined block n because you have knowledge of this block n before the others (depending on time for network propagation). That was in discussion earlier in the thread, how much somebody with a strong mining power can "take over" and mine all blocks in a row for a while, that's the main reason why you can't reduce block confirmation much less than 15s, and I think one of the major question regarding this coin.

Mined 2K coins, restarted client, and it was all of a sudden 4000 blocks behind, and balance 500 coins, and not syncing, is the block chain forked / f**ked? (I do realise this was just a test / wasted effort! just wondering whats up!?)
my address is SFNcmSMm4hz1GjEgWUzRhYsQEkJNn41QtA, and client is the pre-compiled windows binary (v0.6.3.0-g6261cf7-beta) is there any block explorer?

Looks like you mined it on your own, splitted from the rest of the network. Likely you did not have any connection to other peers.
When you restarted your client your chain was smaller than other one, thus you were 4000 blocks behind.

Why is the diff dropping so much?

beacause mining was just a research, annouced a "wasted efforts" from the beginning.
I believe if 15s blocks SmallChange will go for realz, it would be restarted with a new genesis block and propably new port.
thats how research works.

Looks like I got 1 SMC from someone, but why the client is showing "unknown" from incoming address when I click on transaction details???

Edit: it seems normal that it shows "unknown" if there is no label attached:

We'd need a block explorer...

I'd really like to have more transactions though.. we need games..

If it can help, I'll send back same amount + 0.1 to any address which will send me something
here: S938LjmBPRTMYdE7cqnCpy9mzBZqwcu32Y

Send small amounts if you don't trust me, that's just to have more transactions in the chain.
(and if I'm not online it will take few hours before answer).
