Hi,

I post in our local section (Chinese community) to help people understand better about the new merit system, and encourage them to make high quality posts to get merit.

This is the link(it is the Q & A for the new merit system):
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-2829839

Thanks!

Do this post can have merits too?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.29010812

No, this post can not. Very low-quality, no information being presented that hasn't been said a hundred times.

I have given you merit for this thread; it seems like it's a needed conversation to be had and I haven't had the time to look around the forum, but it seems like most people are not talking about this too much. Thanks for trying to talk about the faults of the system and how we maybe can move forward.

Most of these are in mega-threads about nothing that needs to be talked about. Nothing is helpful in the right way, at least in my opinion. The posts seem decent in quality, but just not something I believe deserves merit.

Rejected for being straight spam, contributing nothing; having hard to understand english, posting in mega-threads and being generally unhelpful. In the one thread you are being asked about a particular website and trail off about another site entirely without any reason for it.

Good day, I just want you to ask if the thread I've made is worth to be merited. It's most likely for newbies
Here's the link: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.22982782

I'm not going to merit this thread, because it is going to inevitably feed into our low-quality posting problem, which is why we are in this predicament to begin with. Newbies do not need to even be aware of signature campaigns; they cannot join them and most companies would not want someone that volatile and uninformed to represent them. In my opinion it is not worth meriting.

I found both of these posts to be very helpful, on-topic, well-thought out and concise. They convey the proper information without extra fluff and they make sure to actually help get OP the information/discussion they're looking for. I've merited both of these posts.

These posts may be helpful in certain instances, but definitely not high-quality, in my opinion. At best these are conversations, but not universally helpful, informative or useful. They may be helpful to the OP though, and they may be a better candidate to receive Merit in this instance. None of these get merit from me, though.

Good idea, I appreciate the time you're investing.
I picked a couple of links from my history, I wonder how you decide. I'm still curious about this merit system because it's so subjective to evaluate a post.

I think this is a nice initiative taken by you and I might make a similar post giving away my merits acquired to deserving posts from new members.

Wouldn't this thread be better served if people were to report other peoples posts that deserve meriting?

I doubt it, "better served" meaning what exactly? In my estimation if I made it a rule to only send other people's posts I would get either alts spamming my thread, or very few high-ranking altruistic members submitting extremely helpful (but probably already heavily merited) posts by legendary/staff members.

This gives people a chance to step-up and say "I'm undervalued" (merit-wise), and a public examination can take place. If people disagree with my merit or lack-thereof they can counter it however they see fit. If they agree and would like emphasize my merits that is warranted as well.

I'm offering my opinion, an honest look at these people's posts that very often are newbies or low ranking members. The critique and incentive is best placed on the individuals who would benefit or require adjustment, I think.

That being said, Feel free to submit another user's post; I have nothing against it, and with you having the ability to more objectively rate another's post as opposed to your own I would say that there's going to be a better chance we agree that it deserves a merit.

do you think a post like this one who can help the OP can be rewarded?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28932841 coinlocket$ (Member)

I don't think post helps the OP. You are suggesting to a newbie that they should spam bounty/airdrop threads and join a signature campaign before they have made their 5th post. This is counter-productive, unhelpful and pushing this person in exactly the opposite direction that they should be. They cannot even do what you are suggesting. This does not deserve Merit, IMO.

In all honesty, the thread is so poorly laid out from the beginning that it's hard to even know what the OP is asking; it doesn't look like a thread where OP is actually trying to have a serious discussion though. It seems like they are spamming a one-line, poorly thought out vague question. They want to be handed tokens for no effort. I just can't take anything in that thread seriously.

I am curious about the true quality of my posts.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28928353

I have merited this post, because it has some solid information within it that I believe to be helpful, precautionary and hard to dispute. It is very reasonable advice; many people have had bad run-ins with cloud-mining in the past, and so it's good to talk about their integrity, what to be aware of and what alternative you have if you are interested in mining to that degree.

These other posts feel a little bit forced, or as if you are trying to make them longer than they need to be. While they may be a part of the conversation, it just doesn't feel as though they'd be universally helpful; so, because of this I'll have to say no merit on these posts. Thanks for participating everybody so far, this has been pretty fun.

Hi, again me. I'll try it with two others posts of me. This will also be my last attempt, because I do not want to try too often to exploit your service and do not want to spam your thread.  Cheesy

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28958410

I am honestly a little bit sad that I don't feel I can merit these posts. The posts you are linking are so close each time, but there is just something off about them each time that makes me feel as though I cannot merit them. These "Buy or Sell?" Threads are one big problem we have, so I won't be feeding into that with merit at this time. Your post seems very well thought out, helpful to OP, but again it just unfortunately is in that spammy-type thread.

Please, feel free to submit more of your posts, you are not exploiting it and I would like to see you earn some Merit.

There is no way I would be able to adequately distribute my sMerit meaningfully without this thread operating. Merited and Rejected, you've all played a big part in helping me understand the merit system better and I plan to keep this up as long as my fingers, and attention span, will allow me.

I have gone through all of the posts up to this point, sorry it took so long this round, but I had a very busy few days.

Here is one of my Posts I would like you to take a look at:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2824944.msg28938566#msg28938566

I've merited this post, even though this information has been posted many times; it looks like you're sincerely making an effort to have a high-quality discussion that would benefit the community as a whole; I can appreciate this. Now, everything can be improved in life, so at a few points you mention how you should know the differences between Tokens and coins, but then fail to explain this or provide an explanatory link. I would suggest explaining the things you mention are necessary to know, because you've clearly done your research and if we're being honest I don't know the difference between tokens and coins. I thought some people just called their coins, "tokens".

Last thing, I would add some more criteria for the type of research that you would suggest be done on an ICO or potential investment, as "research" is a bit vague and may lead people into a rabbit-hole of confirming what they already believe.

However here is what I think about the sMerit system :
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28962112

With this topic : Trying to help new comers and those who are confused with very important decisions like whether they should choose real job or crypto currency job in their full time plan.
http://Https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2827486.msg28973074#msg28973074

I did not merit your post about the Merit system, because I feel those concerns have been addressed numerous times since the release of the system and was posted many times prior to you posting it. That being said, I don't simply merit posts I agree with, and this is why I have merited your second post. I disagree with the premise, the conclusion and the supporting logic of your post, but it has provoked me to respond before I even noticed you asked me to review it in this thread. It is a good conversation to be had, because as you said there are too many confused spammed running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out where their place is in the crypto world.

Merited this post; concise, straightforward, well-thought out. I also agree with it, even though it shouldn't be too significant of a hurdle for most users that are making a solid effort. I don't necesarily agree that those in between ranks are affected net-negative, because they're going to benefit heavily from the spam being gone, as well. It is a worthy sacrifice in my opinion.

Another merit for you. I like that you do not add extra nonsense into your posts, or try to copy+paste the article and claim it as your own. You seem to genuinely have good information to share and it has been well-thought out thus far. I have bookmarked the link you put in this post, I skimmed it and it looked good, but I want to give it a full-read tonight and hopefully learn something I've been neglecting.

You are on a roll, that's three in a row. It would be hard to argue that this post isn't helpful, the guy needed that information and I'm sure they're better off because of it now. That's where everyone checks the gas prices, and I haven't failed a transaction since I learned that. It's also helpful because you not only told him where to check for future transactions, you concisely calmed him with the information about what will happen to his current transaction.

Well done, you are batting at 1000. I don't use the NEO stuff, but everyone else in that thread was posting uselessly. You gave the guy the information he needed and a reference.

Well this is very helpful. I try to write some good posts and threads for the community and feel like I need to ask for this new "merit" which is sad.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/from-0-to-100-in-crypto-by-doing-surveys-and-a-few-other-tricks-2826958

I unfortunately did not find any of these posts to be high-quality or helpful. Surveys normally lead to wasted time, spam, viruses, adware and headaches all around. Airdrops and Bounties have been pretty obnoxious lately, so helping enthuse these types of things isn't my cup of tea. Oh, and one suggestion I have is Don't Ask For Merit, I'd be willing to put money that it has the opposite effect you think.

Still going through posts.. If you got missed on page 1, I'm coming around to you. It looks like EcuaMobi posted in here earlier, but shame they withdrew Sad

Thank you for opening up this thread. It seems reasonable to open up like this and help to identify that "talent" from around the forum. I am getting myself devoted to forum a lot and I do think that this system will make some improvements.

However here is what I think about the sMerit system :

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28962112

One of the post that I made recently to help many people who are creating same question over and over again about a decision making.

(Hope you will evaluate it and let me know do they fulfil the quality thats needed, if not I will make sure to improve it!)

In my posts I always tried not to repeat entries written by others
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28765036

While I have rejected these posts, I was going to merit your post in this Alt-coin thread until I scrolled up and saw somebody say the exact same thing before you; they were given a merit, very close. This would've gotten you a merit if it had not been already said, in the exact same way with the exact same information. Unfortunately you did repeat others.

You earned another member a merit that deserved it, and therefore you have done good in my opinion.

I have visited this thread time and time again ever since I first came across it.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28891681

You may want to limit how desperate you are to join a signature campaign. While I agree this is a good thread, I am focusing on sending my merit to members mostly who stand to benefit from the merit. I have a very limited amount and want to get the most use I can with them while promoting good posting habits. I would hate to just throw all of my merit to sticky threads and the-like. Good suggestion, but I won't be using my merit there.

This thread/post is horrible. Not high-quality, not well-thought out and comes off as whiny. I'm sorry, I disagree with the content and wish I at least could give merit for the logic used to arrive at your conclusion, but I cannot.

This is an excellent idea and very classy of you. I also add three posts from me. I would be glad to read your opinion on my posts (even if I do not receive sMerit!).
By the way, I'm glad that finally something is being done against spammers. I was tired of having to constantly read through threads in which 90% spam was.
In my posts I always tried not to repeat entries written by others, but I try to improve even further!

helped actively for two months in the topic https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.28884074

While I rejected your post, I am not going to delete it, because I feel this is a good example of something I would almost like to merit, but it just does not provide any high-quality information or assistance. Many appreciate their TX being accelerated, but the effort/merit/contribution of these posts or actions are minimal. I'd assume those that you accelerate for, would be a better candidate for acquiring merit through this thread.

So while this is very helpful, it is just not helpful/informative or high-quality in the manner I am seeking to merit.

I will use your review in order to judge whether I need to increase my post quality or not. thanks...

Your posts are of decent quality, they just are not helpful and therefore I do not see it proper to merit them. They are all about bounties, campaigns and things like that; so they are helpful, but not to the forum necessarily. Again, you may be best gaining merit from the users that these posts actually are intended to assist. It seems like the effort put into the posts is reasonable enough, however it's just lacking that certain something which would obligate a merit from me.

Merited, I love the idea and this sort of thing; the past couple I have merited seem to be similar. I promise I will merit threads outside of this format, but they are just so helpful in my opinion that they are a very likely candidate.

Please, kindly review a few of my posts:
I want an objective assessment of my post quality, so don't hesitate to speak your mind! Thank you!

You are in the same boat as joni and Spider; The posts are good, but just not explicit or universally helpful in a way that I think deems merit. A lot of these posts are decent, just lacking any sort of altruism, creativity or nuanced thought.

Those that applied for review and were rejected, your posts have been deleted and status has been updated on the second post. CoolWave, I don't see those posts are high-quality or particularly helpful, and many other users agree. I'm sure there are people that appreciate your service, but for most it just looks like an attempt to extort tips.

BitCryptex, I am sorry, but your post is just another run-of-the-mill post with information that was already repeated many times within the thread. You did not add anything to the conversation and you have contributed nothing helpful or creative with this post.

Bottomline, if you need some smerit to give I'll probably could help with small amount. I'll leave the jdugement to you though, as I dont really got time to skim and review everyone's post

You are now the second person talking about their big-pimpin' sMerit stash and all I can suggest to you is looking through OP and meriting the posts I have already merited if you do not have time to search around yourself.

Thread Clean-up , Deleted 5-posts (3 of which were just spam) I wish I had a post to merit, but sadly none have shown up to the party.
