Congrats on mining a block their at 25 BTC not even a month into it and indeed smashed it. Its all about luck to be honest and hitting that magic number for producing a winning ticket. How do you have this set for solo mining as every time I have come to trying solo mining by setting up client it always rejects them or finding out that I have too much power going though. Is their any pools set for doing this kind of thing where can just point to some solo pool operation or will have to dig out 2nd pc make pool with it somehow?

Not doing too well this go round!  I need some luck to come over my miners!

at least you got a little more than my u2's :0... jokes but does anyone know a probability calculator for soloing mining, obviously its a lot of luck involved but still Cheesy

Great hashes on average guys!

Little update here. Best hash is 3,942,183 after resetting with a power outage. Still chugging along!

Mine at Jonny's Pool
Statistically even your CPU will eventually provide such as share as well, or even one that solves a block... or it could produce it in the very next second.  Of course, you've got a far better chance of it happening when that stick is hashing a thousandfold faster than the CPU is Smiley

this is with a lone u2 usb stick

1,432,961.7244733626

This stick has pulled a 2,000,000,000 plus share

I'm waiting for my Sidehack Gekko stick. That thing'll obviously pull such share as well! Smiley

There was a guy a few months back that hit 5 solo blocks with a little rented hash.  Sometimes the lucky are extremely lucky.  Me, I'm not greedy, I just want to solve 1 block with my S3+ like you did. Smiley

Yeah, yeah, solve one block....how many times? Cheesy Keep on keepin on!

Shocked 251 mil with a S3+ ! Damn I got around 1.5th and not even near 251 mil  Tongue

Whoah! That's unusual. Are you rebooting your machines? I only reboot mine about twice a week or so. The common misconception is that you can't get high shares with smaller machines, but those same people will turn around and tell you it's a lottery. Which is a contradiction lol. You can't be tied to low shares and also be in a lottery system.

My S3+ best share as of a solo block solve on ck's solo pool yesterday, almost a billion share:

Code:
{"hashrate1m": "495G", "hashrate5m": "536G", "hashrate1hr": "506G", "hashrate1d": "497G", "hashrate7d": "484G", "lastupdate": 1439239840, "workers": 2, "bestshare": 807134337.89105356}

Very nice pull Mikestang! Knock 'em dead buddy!

Another little update. My counter reset last night with about a 9,000,000 best share (disappointing) but this morning it was up to a more respectful 251,623,641.

Walkin the ball down the field  Cool

As of today it has paid for itself and the other miners, plus much more. I'm curious to see how it'll end up. You never know!

I saw this thread popped out weeks ago until I found this topic on the services section: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/reputable-charities-that-accept-bitcoin-1144811
Since you hit a block with an old miner, why don't I do the same? (Even if mine are two old gridseeds that produces 10gh/s each) Since it's only stocked in the drawer, why don't I take the chance of the lifetime too? Congrats on finding a block, hope I find mine soon! Cheesy

Thanks Dothebeats! Good luck with your mining. Don't listen to the naysayers. Smiley

holy crap lucky man Smiley
Good to know it's still possible to mine in solo!

great story

Amen brother! Thank for reading!

This is awesome to see that a block can be solo mined still with so little hash. My self since I just started getting into mining, I am only running a s3 and a s1 but both are on pool's. I have always been told don't do it solo because you wont make anything. I am glad to see some one prove them wrong even if it wasn't me. Congratz and I am glad to see you are supporting a Charity with some of you winnings!

Again Congrats, Make me want to start solo mining hehe.

I also have six miners working on a pool. This was a little 365 day experiment I thought I'd run on an S3. As of today it has paid for itself and the other miners, plus much more. I'm curious to see how it'll end up. You never know!

Well, to be fair, this doesn't really prove them wrong: no one will deny that people win the lottery regularly despite the odds, but everyone knows beforehand it's only a gamble - potentially, a very profitable gamble but, if you can afford it, and you're into gambling, why not? Tongue

Actually any time you mention "solo mining" everyone will tell you it's not possible. Just NOT POSSIBLE unless you have X number of Petahashes at your disposal like the large chinese firms. People forget that it's a lottery, not a grind. All it takes is one share and boom, you're a winner. Even a little block erupter USB stick could get a hit.

Sure, you could put your hashes to a pool but really how much of that 25.x btc do you want to share with a pool?

Of course it helps to have some Irish Blood as another poster mentioned Cheesy
