no i don't think you should sell your bitcoins, that would be very dumb move now
what is your minimum attainable price and what is the price you are expecting and at what price you are willing to sell the coins.I will be glad to sell off my coins if i am earning a good profit and it all depends upon at what price i entered.

For me, this is kind of a huge investment, but should I actually do it?

What are the risks of doing this?
Yes, becouse if you want to grow your money, bitcoin is really potential for this. But there are still some risk in bitcoin, it is a new concept of payment system and the price is move so wild, you can get so many profit or suffer a financial lost. I also suggest you for only hold your bitcoin until the price rise or if you have a skill to do trade, you can do it.

You don't have to sell when the price decreased anyway. People that are going to invest their money by holding bitcoins should be aware that it would take years before they can get serious amount of profit. Otherwise, they'll be panic selling when there's price decrease. I'm sure that there are some bitcoin holders out there that sells their coins when they see a huge price decrease.

The people that are in it for the the long haul doesn't even care about this price decrease because they know that bitcoin will eventually pick up and continue to rise. Whatever happens within the years that they hold bitcoins is nothing to them since the only thing that is important is the price of bitcoin at the time they bought it and the price of bitcoin at the time that they are going to sell it.

This is true, at least for the moment, I speak from experience.

For example, last year, the price of bitcoin dropped from $600 all the way to $200. A lot of people were really scared, and there were a lot of topics about "the death of bitcoin." Some people even advised me to sell my bitcoins. Now, I'm glad I didn't, because the price is now $785 at the moment and is probably on it's way up.

Uh there are much things to say on your topic. But first of all I would like to know - did you really bought bitcoins with 1000€ or not? Because of I see you posted this thread half a year ago. If to compare June and December bitcoin almost didn't change the price haha but between this two months bitcoin changed it's price with high falls and ups. I think it's not late to buy bitcoin with 1000€ even now, cause the price going to rise more.

So first, about the pool, it depends of everyone. For me it isn't a big amounts but for some it is. That's better if it is because if you earn 250€ with that you'll be happy while I wouldn't person all be.

Secondly : go ! Buy as soon as possible, and sell as late as you can. If price drops don't care, because it will always go higher after the following halving.
Yeah you are right mate. Halving always boost the bitcoin price into the sky without limitation. If you can be able to keep your Bitcoin in about 20 years, you can be rich, I can ensure about that. As long as Bitcoin keep survive, its price will go up no matter what.

That is a lot of money that you are putting it in , my advice if you are new to the bitcoin and want to invest in it , try investing a small amount first and try to see how things go for you if you like it or not ? , if it is something that is worth it ? , a lot of people just sees something that is as rewarding as bitcoin and they straight put their money into it without even knowing what it is and what are the risks or the problems that might face them.
why you think people never learn first before investing?. people aren't that dumb that investing their money randomly like that, they will always learning what it is, talking or even requesting some advice like what happen here. if it is about holding whether small amount or big is the same, and if everybody always thinking like you maybe bitcoin's price will not as high as now

Currently it will make sense to buy such amount of bitcoins as it will yield dividend as BTC is on a constant rise for some weeks now; personally I have a few 100's but purposely for trading and gambling.

Well as the saying goes no guts no glory. It implies that big profits are earned by big capital at risk. So if that author wishes to earn big then he will invest big. But if he will ask me he should only invest half of his money on bitcoin. I believe that bitcoin is at the age of growing strong and increasing in price. We need to savor this opportunity or else we will no longer enjoy the inflation.
What he can do for now is to look for a better investment if he is not contented of holding his bitcoins for longer time. There's more way but the more we get involve in active investment the risk gets bigger so as the reward, we just have to manage our investment fairly then.

I think its a little bit late for you to buy bitcoin. The price of bitcoin right now is really high. You should have buy some bitcoin when it recently crashed. Just be patient. But if you are really excited. I think you should buy some altcoins and sell it when it pumps the price. Theres a lot of cheap coins out there. Just be careful when choosing altcoins. You should study about the coin you are going to buy. You can trqde it to btc.

He can't do anything about it if he did miss the previous dump. He can't go back to the past. Waiting for the next dump might even be a bad thing because there's a possibility that it would pump even more and when the time comes that there was a crash, the price would even be higher than when you buy right now. He could've made profits at that time already.

But anyway, the same thing can be applied in altcoins if he's going to invest there. I wouldn't exactly recommend buying cheap altcoins as most of them are already a scam. I would suggest to invest in new coins, though. Try his luck and if see if he's lucky.

That's why there is a trading wisdom which says that it is always the right time to buy, just stick to the trend. Even if the trend changes direction, you just sell and buy at a lower price later. If you are not sure about the price going lower, just don't sell everything (and just don't buy everything either if you are equally unsure about the price going up in the first place). In respect to altcoins, I don't think that the same thing can be applied to them, at least not to the majority of them which haven't been around for some time. All these altcoins are essentially pump and kick the bucket coins...

And I'm not sure about the pump part at all

That is right. It is better to buy now.
In that scenario of planning to invest with new coins, the better way to do it is to participate during the ICO, take advantage of the bonus offered as that can be considered as profit when the coins are release in the trading site, but always perform cautions in everything that you do so you will be able to manage the risk very well.
