Hi there,

Thanks for pointing out that I need to update the FAQ.

Amazon Payments has been much more hassle than it's worth, so I have had to make the decision to take them off the site. I keep verifying my checking account and then having it suddenly disappear from the account and having to go through the process again, plus they have a $500 monthly limit on credit card payments, which we have generally been hitting on day 1 of the month.

These traditional payment processors sure make things difficult!

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes customers. We will continue to add more options as quickly as possible. Remember, you don't even need to "cash out" your bitcoins because now there is an "anything" option on our convert page, so you can spend bitcoins on practically anything! Smiley

I'd like to purchase USD with my BTC. If "anything" includes USD then I'm game. Thanks.

We do have that option available through PayPal.

I'm very sorry. I understand your frustration, and we'll keep tryinhr to find other ways to so this, but unfortunately Amazon Payments didn't work out.

Jeremy,

I may be blind or clumsy somehow, but are you still using Amazon Payments? It's in your FAQ, but I can't seem to find it on your website. I assume it's different than your Amazon shopping credits.

EDIT: Incidentally, they also declined our affiliates application. Do they just hate bitcoins? Smiley

This may not be as far-fetched as you think. Freddy Wang, owner/CEO of NewEgg, has a 30% stake in VISA, and has said publicy that ""Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, bitcoin walks into mine. Well, I won't take anymore. I won't!"

I would like to buy on newegg with my bitcoins. I know you can buy on newegg with paypal but i dont want paypal. Can you do this in the future?

Hi there,

Unfortunately no. I have tried several times and their customer service is unbearable. They consistently cancel gift code errors without reason and then take hours of our time calling again and again to get the order through.

I thought this was simply because I was buying from an Australian IP, and when my brother in the US came on board as a partner, I thought, great, now we can support NewEgg. Wrong answer! The same thing kept happening to him.

Unfortunately, we just don't have hours and hours to spend on the phone with NewEgg trying to get orders through, which is really frustrating, because they are the most requested store to add. Sad

Ok, that sounds good, thanks.  I PMd you my bitcoin address.  Sorry the WU service didn't work out.  I really appreciate your communication.  I hope your business gets a big boost from the growing dissatisfaction with a certain large exchange which will go unnamed.  I'll certainly be back, thanks.

I used the Western Union spendbitcoins service and I received my money in the same day, which was great.

However, I was quoted (assuming dollar parity) to get $945.  I only recieved $875.

When I entered my order, I sent over $1000 worth of coins (199.5 @ $5.04).

I'm not sure if it was in error or deliberate, but the fee seems a bit unreasonable.

You were quoted 945 AUD minus Western Union fees (was clearly stated on our website that the Western Union fee would be subtracted from the total quoted, and a link was provided to the Western Union site to estimate fees). Western Union charged 60 AUD and then converted 885 AUD to 875 USD.

I did find out the next day that our AUD/USD rate failed to updat itself for over 20 days, so I am happy to send you the additional $60 if you can accept it via paypal or a refund of 12 bitcoins, regardless of the fact that we did send you exactly what we quoted you.

EDIT: Also, we have since disabled Western Union for btc->fiat conversion as their fees are way too high for small transactions and large transactions end up being quite a hassle with ATM limits etc.
