There has been talk about finishing the Premier league in China, but it appears that the idea has been quickly rejected by the majority of club owners.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/premier-league-clubs-rule-out-21804489

The idea in itself is quite interesting money-wise, the clubs would get both TV revenue money and matchday income. I'm quite surprised it has been rejected so quickly, although I personally wouldn't like to see it being played in China.

That’s never going to happen & would be utterly ridiculous to send players & club staff to where this whole horrible disease started. The season will be completed when it’s safe to do so. I don’t think it will be cancelled, only a few clubs want it cancelled & it’s those who have had terrible seasons.

If I'm not missed something, they are planning to play all remaining games. But there is still many doubts and questions about it. Decision about our pool will be made according to fate of season probably.
I had outdated information then.

You think having it in a country that was the epicentre of this disease is a good idea? And a disease that is likely still ravaging their country more than it is anywhere else but China are keeping the actual numbers of deaths a secret. Having it in another country really isn't feasible. Transporting entire squads and coaching staff and match officials is going to cause more harm than good and possibly just spread the disease if anything. If the matches are to be played they need to be done in the UK. Just do them behind closed doors if they have to and get them done asap.
In the current situation no country is safe. I am all for behind the close door if they really wants to finish this season by playing rest of the matches.

What I said was that I was surprised that the club owners rejected it so fast because - you know - money.
I would be happy to know that it's for safety.

The only conclusion the PL came up with is that an April 30th resumption is impossible, and hence suspend it indefinitely. It was extreme optimism to begin with hoping there was ever a chance of resumption that early. 1

70% salary reduction is said to still in discussion.

If the league should continue it's indefinitely suspension (for several months), I wonder how clubs, not just in England, would cope with the players wages even if there's upto 70% reduction.

Nope, I actually said quite the opposite - I wouldn't like it to be held in China. In my opinion it would really be bizarre and 'behind closed doors' option looks way better in that case.

I think the PL & all its clubs are having a video conference tomorrow. We should get a clearer picture of what will happen then.

The conference will go something like this:

PL: We propose we resume the season as soon as possible and play all the games behind closed doors.
PL teams: We agree.
Government: Gov says no.
PL and PL Teams: fuuuuuuuu

Regarding the TV deals - I feel we are getting closer and closer to a 'NBA season pass' kind of deal. Premier league is huge, audience is so big and content-wise it is still lacking.

If you have NBA or NFL league passes, you will know what I'm talking about. These are great, I always wanted the Premier league to go that way and maybe these legal problems could force them into taking that kind of approach a bit faster.

League pass content can be viewed at any time, on any device, and has a ton of extra stuff to read/watch. If it costs like 100$ per season, they would get to a few billion $ easily just in Europe.
League pass is a great thing, but I doubt that EPL will make such thing soon. Contracts with current broadcasters don't allow such things and probably they will push EPL not to launch it. They rather will sell rights to online broadcasters like DAZN or Amazon Prime.

About Belgium league - there was novquestion who will win this year. But still, I doubt that such trophy without ending season give much joy for Brugge. Same would be for Liverpool.
I am just checking here since I am not much updated about the information of the PL now. Last few days busy with spreading the contents for Bruno and I hope a lot of other will join the cause too. Anyway, where are we regarding the pool points and what fate they have decided for the PL? Still they are planning for the two match to be played and end the season?

I don't think they will be able to decide anything on that conference but maybe they will be able to agree some broad guidelines and feel the opinions of all interested parties. Then they will have some official announcement which will not say anything new. They could even purposely leak some crazy ideas just to judge public reaction.

The Belgian league has apparently finished early and Club Brugge have been crowned champions. Their league looks similar to the Premier League as well with Club Brugge  running away with the title at 70 points with their nearest rivals on 55. They only have one relegation spot as well but seems unfair to them as they can still get out of it. Not sure what's happening to them. Maybe they should let them stay up this season and play with an extra club next.

I read that there will be no relegations there this season.
I think the article said that 2 teams will be promoted so yes, I guess they will play with an extra team next season.

It was a bit easier to do it there, they have a certain champion who gets the only CL spot and nobody gets relegated - so, a fair call. In England most teams still play for something and it would be hard not to relegate anyone in the Prem.

That virtual football is something I will not be touching. I am not watching it and definitely not betting on it. In these times without actual sports to bet on I have turned on to esports and I must say I am quite pleased with the results for now. There is a lot of surprises and since my bets tend to shift more to underdogs and chasing of high odds that suits me perfectly.

Maybe I'm getting old but I never got how people love watching 'streamers' play video games like FIFA or COD. That's some seriously lame shit but it's huge with da youf right now. Watch a book or read a film or some shit. I guess actual e-sports is a little different, but watching some random youtuber play Call of Duty absolutely flummoxes me.

Agree with you, hundreds of thousands of people die from normal flu every year. Old people die of pneumonia regularly, I think it’s all overblown.

I’m getting really frustrated with the restrictions put on us too, this can’t end soon enough.

Restrictions are hard to take, yeah. And the thing about numbers is true as well.
I feel that the reason why all of this is happening (quarantine/movement restrictions etc) is because people die in the same locations and by big numbers in the same period. If this number of people died in a period of 1 year, nobody would have done nothing of the sort. But the thing is that once it affects an area, the number of seriously ill and dead people grow really rapidly. I know because we are so close to Italy so I was tracking that from the beginning.

For example, my country has less than 1000 infected and 6 dead, yet we're all quarantined. It is annoying, yea, but otherwise it can become a huge burden for our not so good health system.

Bottom line - I just want it to end. It is hard being home and the economical reprecussions will be big.

Oh, and yeah - I really wanted to go to Liverpool for the title celebrations. We waited long enough, I hope we're having a proper party even in December if that's the earliest we can have one.

^  Lawl if Real gets to beat City on aggregate and goes to the finals and win the whole thing.  -_-  Very possible given the situation with the outbreak and loss of mometum by some clubs.

What's the latest on the league?  I think it could be back earlier than expected and the whole outbreak is mostly fud.

Edit:  Well not 'fud' but overblown.

The 2019/20 will be completed, voiding it is not an option according to UEFA -

Yeah, but what about the Premier League. Obviously finishing them at some point is preferential to most and for multiple reasons, but it's the question of when that can happen. Worst case scenario is it could be a year from now before play is allowed to resume safely. Maybe even longer than that. Who knows. There's really no end in sight right now.

Regarding the TV deals - I feel we are getting closer and closer to a 'NBA season pass' kind of deal. Premier league is huge, audience is so big and content-wise it is still lacking.

Well that's what I've been wanting for a while, but doesn't really bother me as I get that from dazn right now, but there's a few hoops to jump through like finding a proxy and getting someone to set it up for you in the country that you want it in. I'd much rather pay a little more and go the "official" route. The trouble is, in the UK unless the change the law they can't show the 3 o clock kicks off on TV but it's such an outdated rule and needs to be changed and I'm sure it will be at some point but I hope it's sooner rather than later.

this is an ideal scenario. the number of new infections still needs to decreases. Is it possible for all players and teams to be constantly quarantined for two months that they do not spread the infection among themselves?
Maybe is not directly related to football and Premier League, one major sporting event with so long tradition was cancelled. Official statement

How about they play the games but on FIFA? Each player controls their own game version of themselves and at least they can be played from home  Cheesy. That would actually be fun to see.
