I doubt we will change from the Superbru site. I actually quite like it and seems reliable from what others have mentioned. You can also make your predictions for the entire season in advance if you wanted to, so that would be great for people who might be afk or going on holiday or whatnot. As I mentioned before, getting consolation points for a near-result is also good.

I'll wait till everybody has paid before I work out the prizes, but there will be some small consolation ones for users who get the highest points from a round so everyone still has something to play for even if it becomes apparent you likely won't win one of the main prizes.

Thanks hilarious for getting this together, I've made my payment (tx id in PM). The Cloudbet sponsorship is crazy awesome too. Probably means more wiggle room for consolation prizes, and sweeten the winnings for the top winners. Good on them (and thanks CB).

I think we should just decide on Superbru for now, so everyone has the chance to sign up and familiarise with the system in the remaining few days before the first game. I'm Sojourner/buwaytress on there (not sure which username will show up), I've put in all my predictions already.

Not one for fantasy league. Tried a few but ultimately don't have the time it deserves to do decently.

Nah, I wouldn't really say it's cheating, but there's nothing we can do to really police it either. Following a tipster isn't guaranteed results either. Think I did much better than Lawro last season. I tend to put my scores in from gut feeling then I'll check what various other tipsters have said like Lawro and Merson on Sky Sports etc and may change them slightly but I usually stick with what I went with initially, but if everyone else says the same result and I've got something different I may change it, but sometimes you shoot yourself in the foot doing it. If anyone wants to copy a tipster result for result I don't really care, but like I said, nothing we could do to prevent it really.

^  Ah cool.  I think I'll name my Superbru account 'Beat_Lawro'.  Grin

I think he's slightly above average vs the whole field at BBC's predictor.  But would that be cheating if we copy somebody else's picks?  I think there should be a rule against it now that think about it.

Please keep it on topic. Don't want this thread spammed by random people posting their top fives.

You can follow Lawro on his column on the bbc: https://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=lawro

That’s really good of them, fair play. I think the competition is going to be a lot more intense this season. It’s going to be a lot harder just to get in the top 5.

Edit - Just looked at superbru.com & signed up, seems a little more complicated to find your way around there but I’m sure we’ll all figure it out.

There's only about 5 extra players this season so shouldn't be that much harder unless they're all experts  Cheesy. I really liked the simplicity and presentation of the BBC site, but unless we can find anything else superbru will have to do. I'd rather have something that is reliable more than anything and at least a couple of others have vouched for it. I kinda like how you get some consolation points for a near miss as well.

I always end up slacking in Fantasy League tournaments. You can change your captain each week & they get double points. Sometimes though certain teams have 2 games in 7 days so you can factor that in. It’s really hard to keep up with, I might give that one a miss.

Edit - Just saw BBC predictor might not be available. How are we going to do it?

You can find that the BBC site won't be available but not the replacement? We will be using superbru.com unless anyone has any other suggestions: https://www.superbru.com/premierleague_predictor/start.php

It seems they also do a fantasy one.

Also, good news in that Cloudbet will be sponsoring the tournament and they will be putting $500 into the pot for the winners so the prize fund is over £1000 now. Hopefully we can get some more sign-ups to bolster the pot even more. I'll probably start collecting money in at the end of the week or early next week so keep an eye out for that.

There is only week and few days until start of season. @Hilariousandco, when you're planning to start collecting money?

Please actually read my posts. I just addressed this.

That's great news that we will have Cloudbet as sponsor of this prediction pool. Additional $500 looks nice.
And superbru.com website looks reliable. I see that they have predictors of others leagues, maybe I will also give a try. I tried to look for some alternatives, but I haven't found anything better.

That is really good from Cloudbet to sponsor this betting pool, they will receive many many clients over the year with this move and only 500 USD is a small price to pay from their side considering how much views and(hopefully) clicks they will get to their website. On the other side let me check superbru and get back with my feedback for it. Ok, looks good, registered for it and it looks a lot alike BBC predictor site. Can't wait for this to start then, very few days remaining.

Oh nice.  That's cool of them to sweeten the pot.  Smiley

And agree with Trofo.  The Premier League fantasy site looks better than the others I've seen so far.  Not that I've seen most of them...  Just the FB one and a couple crypto based ones which aren't don't really look good tbh.

If you are doing Fantasy please do this one: https://fantasy.premierleague.com. There are many versions but I believe that one is best. Maybe I am biased and I already have the team ready for that one  Wink

Really good deal you managed to get out of Cloudbet. Congrats. Now we have a really nice rewards.

^  I think the people who'll like fantasy football would be the ones willing to shell out more than 25 GBP to play for one whole season.  It's actually hard work, so there should be higher rewards imo.

It is a shame that BBC predictor won't be available. That is the best scoring system and I think it is much but much better than the FIFA predictor way with round results giving you a lot of points which I totally disagree with. I hope we can find a website with the same exact scoring system as the BBC predictor otherwise the fun will be much less than last year.
Imo the world cup was better because of the joker prediction which can be a nice comeback mechanic if you're way down the rankings. Superbru's scoring system is somewhat similar to the bbc predictor the only difference is that they have lesser punishment since you'll get half extra if your prediction is a goal off from the exact score.

But on the flipside it kind of made it unfair. I did pretty shit in the end of the tournament finishing quite low down, but if one of my jokers had come in on the last round or two then I would have likely made it to the top five. I didn't like how the points changed with how popular the score was as well. I prefer a scoring system with some uniformity so you know where you stand. I kinda like how on the superbru site you still get some points if you're one goal out or whatever so it's at lest some consolation because I'm often stuffed at the last minute by a sneaky goal which is always frustrating.

If you guys are going to set up a fantasy i'm down to join the pool. I don't know how fantasy football goes but i'm interested in trying it out so i'll be ready if there will be a paid one next season.

From what I understand, you are like a fantasy manager and have some sort of budget to buy a squad of players from throughout the league. They get points based on goals, how well they've played, assists, tackles etc and the person with the most points from their squad wins. I'll give it a go this season and see how people like it.
