I didn't know that, didn't Klopp play B squad in the season they won cup double though? IIRC Alisson didn't play single game.

Kelleher will be the 1st GK in both cups, that's almost 99% guaranteed. Also, players like Gakpo, Endo, Tsimikas, Elliott, Gomez will start regularly.
Most of the top clubs do that, because their benches still have enough quality to win the games and it gives players that are on the brink of first 11 the chance for some match fitness.

Darts question doesn't look good for me. buwaytress and I have 1 different pick and the odds on his guy are 1.65.
You actually investigated, right? You picked 'No' only for the guy playing against the champion of Germany.

Manchester City just finished off Fluminense with their third goal. So I guess the answer is City wins both games, with +5 or bigger goal difference.

Oh great now this puts me back up on 2-2 against @hakan2217. It would be sucks if he wins another point from this because that would put him on atleast draw for the worst result

I lost hope to win this one when they won the first game 3-0 already, but when I read that Haaland couldn't play I thought who knows, maybe they have a rather tight game.

I was kinda anticipating this as well but you know Manchester City is a far better team in term of quality against most club in this competition even without Haaland on the team so this is actually an expected result for them. Yeah winning this doesnt really mean anything for Pep but atleast they got another trophy to add on their collection so this is great for them

You know what, Alvarez would have been the top 1 choice on striker for Pep if Haaland isnt on the team. Too bad this dude got to compete with Haaland on the team

But when I saw their line-up, there still isn't any weak player to be found despite three or so missing the game. It's still a world class squad and one of their strengths is that they have so many players who are good at scoring. Congrats @CLS63 for that point! Now we got some questions with the same answers, but also some to look forward to.

Man City are just being unpredictable from not scoring too many goals to scoring 6 unanswered goals in a 2 game span is weird, by opponent had City not to win either of the games, but I was sure Man City would both games, but with 5+ goal difference isn't what I could have guessed right, I went for less than 5 goals, hoped for 1-0 or 2-1 win today, but a 40 seconds goals from Alvarez shattered the iota of hope I had left.

Congratualtions to Man City, they conqured europe this year, so getting the club world cup too, is just yet another icing on their cake!

Wow I can't believe I have full greens this round, but my opponent has so many different answers that it's too soon to feel confident. Plus now the dart thing is happening, I truly regret saying No to almost everyone except the biggest favorite. In any case still I hope for "tennis" style upsets Smiley

Dobey and Bunting have found their opponents for next round, I need at least one of them to lose

I need both to lose Tongue

He often does that - he doesn't really want to rest them. He wants to keep them in match form and you'll rarely see a game in which a player like Salah sits on the bench.

He'd maybe do it differently in a CL week, but considering that Salah's going away soon, it was expected he'll play 30 min as a minimum. He'd put him in if we were 5-0 up.

not following Reds that closely, thanks for clarification
never mind, it was all good for me, since I had Salah to have 1 contribution

when I see images of these "sportsmen", I really have a will to watch their matches, but this festive season is putting them on mission impossible, it is just managing children parties and city commutes with them from one place to another, through full-out city

Oh man... I can't believe that a club like Girona can't score a goal against Betis. They were leading because od Dovbyk's auto-goal and now Betis managed to score to make it 1-1 which makes me lose a point.

Dovbyk is Girona's player, he scored a penalty - not an own goal.

_____________________________

Shame, my initial pick was a draw, switched to Betis last minute.

Well now I feel stupid Grin I just looked at the stats on SofaScore and it was a penalty icon which I mistaken for an own goal icon. Nevertheless I Girona should have won this game. At first I was also leaning towards a draw, but after checking Girona's results from the last few rounds and especially when I saw the 4-2 win over Barcelona I changed my answer to Girona win. That's OK. I have four more different answers to turn this round over.

not sure, but that is not logical from my point of view, if he wanted to rest him, why would he send him in when leading?

And once again I did well with picking the draw. I have also chosen the draw for Roma - Napoli. Curious how that game is going to end.

But if I see it correctly, I think that Real Betis deserved that point no? I think ball possession was about even and Betis was really pushing hard in the end. I guess the 1-1 is a fair result. For my pick I was of course hoping for that draw, but I was actually for Girona to win the game to make La Liga more fun.

I'm actually a benefactor of that equalizer by Betis, I had Real Betis to win the game, but a draw coming from behind and scoring that goal in the 88th minute is one I would gladly welcome as it doesn't give my opponent an advantage, he went with Girona and after taking the lead into half time, I really had given up hope, to be honest.

Crazy midweek games, so many draws in Bundesliga, and now two in La Liga, glad I stayed out of these games, horrible for people like me who can't put money on draws.

While people like hilariousandco would be making real fortune, as I have never seen any that back more draws than them in any pool, and I'd think that would occasionally occur as real life bets or stakes too.

Chi20's really good -- 3 out of 3 with the tricky Girona question, but 3 Div1 guys also got it all right so far, good thing my mafia matchup is as shitty as me, heh heh.

I just think that draw was and is a fair result for the game, considering the fact that real is good at home.
I still have more 3 different answers with my opponent,  I'm just hoping it's goes my way this round, Because I don't really know how next round will be for me considering the fact that I have 3 flights to catch from Saturday and I may not really do much research on next round question.

I didn't watch the game, but judging by the game stats, I guess a draw is the most fair result. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't be mad at Girona conceding a goal in the last minutes of the game making me lose a point.

it is first time that my believes that Girona is not champion mentality is getting me an advantage
nevertheless, it is ruining my position in La Liga pool

but overall, Betis is strong at home, Real also didn't won there, and I was thinking between home win and draw, and picked draw, happy about it

I agree. But Girona is also showing some strength with the way they are playing this season. The only game they lost is against Real Madrid back in October. I don't think that Betis is a team that can compare with Real Madrid.

That 88th minute goal really shocked me as well, I thought Girona would have bag this game. I was expecting more goals from Girona as well, they scored 4 goals against Barcelona and 3 goals against Alaves so they could have surely score another goal against Betis

Overall ball possession was won by Girona but they really pushed it through until the last minute. 20 total goal attempts from Betis and that was remarkable. On the last 30 minutes of the game, Girona wasnt that really aggresive anymore so I guess they was attempting to end the game with that 1 goal which back fire because Betis finally scored the equalizer

Anyway, there goes my 2nd point. Current score 1-2 against @hakan2217

I couldn't agree more, Aspinall vs Evans would be the determining factor for the question between myself and Jayce, while the H2H records huge favors Aspinall in a one sided manner, the recent fixtures suggest a more even matchup and doesn't connote the difference between their world rankings with Aspinall ranking 6 and Evans 53 or thereabout, I don't want to imagine Jayce has a prior knowledge of this.

agree, first thought was all No, but I do believe that three will go through, just don't know which three

seems that both of us researched darts, hope to see Dobey and Bunting out, although that would be difficult
as I saw, darts is similar to golf/snooker, no domination in that sport and being within top30 is not something that is a secure win, will be interesting to follow

Dominant performance from Liverpool, Salah making his mark as usual. This looks like the trophy we gotta win now.

still, five more different answers with vd309, so lot of space for changes this round

Darts? Same here man I hate betting on No also but I went with almost all "No" in this question, while jeremypwr is all "Yes"... so I'm in trouble already lol
I just copied the answers of Trofo and cryptofrka for this question Grin

I guess that makes quite a few of us,

I knew the names were all top seeds but in tennis, many times majority of selections ended up getting knocked out of tournaments even in first round to total nobodies, so I'm thinking dart should be just as 'unpredictable'. Football I feel more confident of backing the 'seeds' even if odds don't favor them as much.

I guess we will find out whatever is right this week. Good job though, it made me think a lot, and to end up with No strategy Smiley
