There goes the ATP question for most of us as Tsitsipas got eliminated and looking at the current odds we could potentially see Medvedev and Sinner reaching the finals.

I'll be needing Team Giannis to step up in the all-star game this weekend so they could save me from losing a crucial point in the h2h matchup.  Cheesy

I'm on a ski trip tomorrow and Trofo's spending some family time so we won't be around much.
I'll be back on Sunday (Trofo probably not so much) and then I'll update the spreadsheet with the points for all the games that were played so far.
Forum is family so don't worry I will be here just on poorer hardware so maybe a bit less vocal  Grin

I am even meeting another forum member while on family vacation.  But you have to do it like that, crypto never sleeps so I am never completely off if I have internet access. Crypto addicted?

I think it's normal that there is some chaos and uncertainity in first week, even if you tried to be as clear as possible. Things will settle in week or two when people fully will see how things works here.

Yep, exactly Grin

i think i missed that part of the rules.

Has a week gone by without a football game? Never! There will always be football games because the smaller leagues resume when the major leagues end and there are also other FIFA competitions. It is not a problem to add other sports, but I advise you to stick to the major ones like tennis, basketball, and mixed martial arts (UFC), which are extensively transmitted to other regions. The project's goal will be defeated if sports like baseball, golf, and cricket are added.

We don't want the best guesser to be crowned

As they Cro2 said, majority of questions always will be about football. But after all, it's not called Football Fanatics League, it's Sports Fanatics league. I have no idea about cricket or American Football and predicting it would be blind guess for me, but I don't mind it, as such niche sports questions will be on rare oocasions. Majority of non-football questions will be about global sports like tennis, basketball and etc.

6th question was the perfect example. We can't make it clearer than that. If we say champions league matches this week you all should be able to know which 4 games we are targeting. If you are lazy to check that is your problem. If you are betting I am sure you know which 4 are playing this week.

But more to the point, I think there's nothing wrong with the format or questions, atm. It's meant to be challenging, even tricky, and that only helps people who pay more attention or who care more, and that's sort of the point of this whole thing? So come on, guys, stop ranting at the match officials and get on with it =P

I agree with this. Benzema was there in the World Cup contest as who scores the most goals for France. A day later Benzema got injured and he was removed from the squad. However the people who preferred Benzema couldn't get any points unfortunately. When it was asked to cro2 team they answered like this:

Trick question

F* me, I chose Napoli... I did read the question but I assumed (wrongly) it meant, current game week (I myself always use that term or even day to reference match day or game week, which is one of the odd things I picked up from football.). No difference, I'd have gone for BVB anyway and lost. This means LTU_btc, we're tied for points as you chose Benfica Wink

See, I do like giving my opponents a fair chance!

I can easily live with the errors I made this week by not reading the question clearly and or being in a hurry since I thought the deadline was very close, but It's quite still alright since I'll be ending up with a draw for this week, so it's not so bad, I'd say.

The whole idea is to crown the biggest sports fanatic - and to be that you have to know a lot about a lot of sports.

/snip

I don't think of myself as a sports fanatic, but I still love this kind of competition. It's fun and it doesn't cost me anything to participate, so I wanted to try. OK, the first division participants must pay a small fee but they will get it back with the reward at the end of the season.

I think that there will always be something to complain about because Trofo and cryptofrka are just humans who can make an error. There's nothing wrong with that. Besides, this competition differs from the World Cup competition. Here we compete in a league system where losing one week doesn't have to mean anything. Just like Arsenal losing their last game in the Premiership doesn't mean they won't win the title Smiley

CROC2 team Sorry for drawing your attention, but the No. 6 question is unclear; I saw a few people pick Manchester City and Napoli, but I thought it was limited to this week's Tuesday and Wednesday games? BTW, I thought the league was only for football? What does the tennis question have to do with this, or did I miss something in the rules? Anything other than football will turn this lovely league into a guessing game.

Read the rules, man Grin
We announced it a lot of times already - it will be a mixture of sports with ~70% of questions being football on average.
During some weeks there will be no football at all - because there is a summer break or something like that.

Tennis tournamnets will always be a problem but we want to include them. Due to the timeline we will always have a deadline after tournament started. Early maches are usually quite lame and we will probably have to make questions that are getting resolved towards the end of tournament. You all know when is the deadline so you can time your answers to give you max advantage in case you belive that info is important.

This is sports fanatics league so some knowledge is expected/required. If something is unclear ask us before answering. You can see we are always here and quickly responding. Mistakes are always possible as well so don't hesitate to let us know if something looks strange.

Now, I agree that a way can be set up to reduce these types of errors. In that sense I suggest:
That all the answers, have a droplist with the options.

It is true that this might be more work for the organization of the tournament, but it reduced this type of errors on the part of the players.

This would needlessly extend the forms and sometimes make them quite long to read.

How we see it - there are 3 leagues.
If you want to follow football only and are really good at picking these results, it will probably be enough to be somewhere between the 1st and 2nd Division.
If you don't read the questions carefully you will lose points and games.

If you however want to compete for the top prizes you will need to stay active, read the questions carefully (we insert some 'traps' intentionally) and track a wider variety of sports.

Regarding the sixth question, it was very clear that it was related to the Champions League matches this week.

That's automatic zero point for the 7 users who picked outside of the previous game week.

True, but the question was clear when saying that it was about this week's games, for the Champions League.
We shouldn't blame whoever asked the question, because he mentioned the necessary information.

They already said that other sports will be included for questions not only football.
If I remember correctly someone mentioned cricket and basketball, and maybe formula one would be interesting to have.
I don't follow all sports and I am not big fan of tennis but that is what makes this competition exciting and hard to predict winners.

It does not make it more competitive or exciting; it only gives users who participate in multiple sports an advantage. Cricket, for example, is limited to a specific region of the world, as is basketball (NBA). Tennis is preferred because it is a world tournament, and anyone can guess by looking at the tennis players' world rankings. This is just my unpopular opinion, and it holds no water.

I think the only problem with the tennis question was that the tournament started on the day the question was asked. Therefore, those who responded only on Tuesday, even within the deadline, already had more information than those who responded earlier. In this sense, what I suggest is that questions are always asked for events that only start after the deadline for answering.

I still haven't seen the problem with the sheet with the answers being visible to everyone. And I have some difficulty understanding how someone gets advantage of sending the answer later.
Since the sheet is only available after the first event starts, it's irrelevant for me to know the opponent's response. That is, if the tournament has already started and the answer was given after that start, it does not count. And that's what I understood was going to happen.

But hey, it's the first week and we're all still figuring out how it all works, both the organizers and the players. In two or three weeks, this has all gone in a natural way.  Wink

Nice to know my prize money is ready and waiting in escrow. Thanks SB/Cro2 Wink

I guess you must have missed the fact I'm a participant in the pool right, but if you're referring to the 2nd or 3rd prize, then it's all good I'm rooting for you all the way.

Thanks to Sportsbet, and CRO2 team for the initiative .

Buwaytress will always be Norwich - he makes everyone in the pool likes better with his weir decisions. haha

I didn't wanted to point that out, but answer on a 1st question was the reason why I looked at whole thing

Ah, ok. Tennis question was never in doubt, Trofo said a day or 2 ago that it won't be counted.
It just wasn't marked it the spreadsheet - but we will track it better in the future.

Basically - the rule is if anything regarding the question has been played late submission isn't counted.
Tennis question is 1 example, CL goal difference another one.

This time they will get 0 points for tennis questions since they had more info about tournament than rest of us.

I didn't wanted to point that out, but answer on a 1st question was the reason why I looked at whole thing

nevertheless, I don't want to win after this (I would not feel as I earned it), can you please put me on 0 points in any case
so we can continue and forget about my shitting about this
We can forget about you shitting about this but we will not put you on 0 points. Everyone will get what they deserve. Cryptofrka and me decided on the rules and as comprehensive they are they are is still missing some stuff like this. It is good that you guys are proposing better ways of doing something since we plan to run this competition long time. Rules will grow and we will all learn some stuff over the journey.

That about tennis question getting them 0 points was decided between us one minute after deadline passed. If they posted answers just half an hour after the deadline they would still have 0 points for both Tuesday CL matches and Tennis question. Not you or anybody else can complain about our grading and counting points. You guys can give suggestions, some will be accepted, some discarded but it always comes down to our decision and our feeling what is most fair solution in each situation.

The picks ARE locked. The only questions we asked were for answers that weren't clear, when somebody inserted more clubs etc. We were careful that these did not change by much, so you could not pick another players or teams - you could just clarify what you meant.

I didn't said that you did not locked all answers, what I said is that late participants didn't had their answers entered/locked before seeing the pairs
it is important to mention that I didn't thought anyone is trying to scam me, not by far, all this is simply process in a new competition
