My last article didn't get published due to holidays so here it is in a bit different form. Give it a read if you want.
Short reading this time around since it is just begging of the season and not much to write about  Grin

Round 1 Recap
We have truly started and Round 1 is already behind us. We had some mixed results in this one with most teams averaging around 3 correct answers but that didn’t stop some of them to hit the ground running. We had several teams with 6 correct answers and only one team managing to get 7, congratulations yassinmanai, that is the proper way to start the season. Still early days and not much to write about in our Recap per Divisions but let me try to at least single out some good results.

Division 1
Seems like there was no break for our last year winner vd309, he is already back on the top position after winning his duel against cryptofrka with 6:3 result. What a welcome to new Division for cryptofrka, seems like it was easier to get win after win in Division 2 after all. We had a lot of 3:3 draws in the first round which is a bit strange but at least gives me something to write about this early in the season 😊

Division 2
Big wins all around in this Division and I will put some emphasis on jeremypwr, LFC_Bitcoin, cls63 and darxiaomi. They all managed to win their games while scoring excellent 6 correct answers. Seems like they wanted to put out an early notice to show their opponents they mean business and promotion to Division 1 next season.

Division 3
I have already mentioned great result for yassinmanai in the opening paragraph. Curiously enough there wasn't a single draw in this division so we have a clear division in the table on winners and losers part.  Entebah, slackovic and vivekdkhyani doing a good job and boosting their goal difference from get go.

Division 4

We had one late addition to Division 4, Pulsar77 has been added and that makes a total of 9 teams in our development division. That means one team will be free each round and we will have a total of 18 rounds since teams are playing home and away fixtures here. Good starts for Spack17, HomieAllDay and Joca97 here. They managed to open up with the wins.

LMS
LMS has also started, this season we had 63 people and we lost 12 teams in the first round. It looked even worse at midpoint and we thought that casualties will be even higher than that. We lost following teams in Round 1: un_rank, Strongkored, Ozymandias_DZ, Koal-84, Jinetics1111, goodpunt, Joca97, leea-1334, mitchr4, Rikafip, mv1986 and Dump3er. Though luck guys but you can still buy back and continue your journey in the LMS. Really curious to see how many will opt to use that opportunity.

We're off to one of the best starts this season, but the round is far from over, we still have another half left with several opposing answers.

I'll probably drop a point from the last question since Leeds already closed the gap with that win against Stoke and they'll surely get a draw from Derby.

Bahrain most likely have secured their spot on the semifinal so I need Saudi Arabia to lose on their next game to secure a point from this questions.
I also need Iraq to win and Saudi Arabia to not qualify, even though it's not looking good from the odds I still think it's doable after Bahrain manages the upset.

Where are the goals, lads?
This must be one of the boxing days with smallest number of goals in many years.
I blame Man City and Man United for everything, but I was very surprised to see Chelsea losing and scoring only one goal.
Only a few guys selected 20 or less goals, good for them.

What a sea of red. I knew the Villa question was risky but a red card and 3-0 loss, that I didn't expect. Spurs to win I also knew was a risk, but I thought even with their injuries they had to score and draw at least?
Red card ruined everything for Villa.
Well done Liverpool for another comeback and win against Leicester, they are unstoppable.

First important point for me this round. It is still a long way to go, but good news is that we both are missing the second question we had different answers to. That's 5 questions to go. Winning 2 gives me the draw, but that would not be very nice after my catastrophic start.

With 5 more to go, Im confident on turning this around but in my case I need 2 more points to secure myself from LMS knockout.

Bahrain most likely have secured their spot on the semifinal so I need Saudi Arabia to lose on their next game to secure a point from this questions. Sheffield lost today as well so if Leeds ended up winning today then that would give me an edge on question #10. Those are two questions that Im confident on getting points from

Sheffield lost at home to Burnley, let's see what Leeds does tonight. If they win, most of us are close to another point for LMS.

Can't believe that Forest are 3rd in the league after half of the season has passed. Incredible season for them, they honestly deserve it with the way they have been playing.
Hoped for a draw there, and to be honest 1-1 would have been the most fair result.

I'm tempted to grade Q2 already, but if I do I just know LFC will win 9-1.

...Now it looks like it was a bad choice. Especially now that it you will win the point for the Aston Villa - Newcastle game. In the last season I was always losing points when not going for the "XY does not lose" option so I went with that option now.
Lots of luck with the way Jhon Durán was sent off, they already had their work cut out for them but losing their point man made it doubly difficult.  I thought the red card was harsh, but it was a decision that could have gone either way.

Still a close competition so far, we still have enough different answers to swing the game in any direction.

Where are the goals, lads?

20 or less looks like a certainty at this point, I'll take it considering that not a lot of people chose that one.
Man, I don't remember such low scoring Boxing Day. 10 goals from 6 games and 0:0 in Wolves - MU after almost hour. Usually Boxing Day round were way above otherrounds when it comes. Maybe LFC will have fun, but it won't change things for me and most of us
Gulf Cup doesn't matter for me as we have same answers with opponent.

Manchester City no win, Chelseas loses after leading. Tottenham has the best offense and doesn't score. Crazy.
i expected City to be low scoring one, even Chelsea loosing didn't come as surprise to me but Spurs game to have just 1 goal in it is incredible. Spurs have one of the best attacks and one of the worst defenses. I expected that game to have 5 goals in it, 3 where a sure thing.

That red for Aston Villa was a bit soft for me. I didn't see the intent there.

Bad night of games, bad results. And the goal total is fully at risk too. I can only count my blessings that vd309 predicted even more goals than I did. Only mitch, Spack and SATWAT will get points from Q2. Comfortably too, as we'd need 11 goals from Wolves/United/Liverpool/Leicester to get them stitched.

And I see you went with Aston Villa not to lose like arallmuus did. This is not looking great for you guys, but my condition to win still is that Isak has to score, which makes these picks hard to materialize.

There you have it, Isak just scored and yeah thats 1 point for you. With 2 goals lead and against 10 Villa player, there is no way that this game would end with a draw. Dang I actually was hesitating on writing any response when I saw your post, afraid that I might jinx it but yeah now that it doesnt matter anymore because I lost

Newcastle totally owned the game, Villa totally stand no chance even without the red card

@cryptofrka next time you can offer 10 or less goals too, when there are 8 games to be played. Cheesy  Last round in the Premier League there were 32 goals despite 2 games ending 0-0. It's weird how unpredictable football can be. Manchester City no win, Chelseas loses after leading. Tottenham has the best offense and doesn't score. Crazy.

No way on earth is that a straight Red, no way!!! It is as a 50-50 challenge with no intentional act. The officiating messed up the game.

I'm not mad they lost anyways it was a 50-50 game but Tottenham??? I have no words

That would also mean that my duel with chi20 will be settled over Qatar/Oman as the Gulf semifinalist.

With 2 points in LMS already in the books, doesn't seem like a bad week at all.

I had no idea who was favorite for that competition. I checked some odds, which only showed favorites in the individual matches, but not to go through. If I get that point, it will be a very lucky one. We have a handful of other different questions, will be a long week.

I didn't mean a favorite for qualifying for the quarterfinals. I looked who was the favorite for the next game. That and the fact that Qatar and UAE (at least what I remember) were competing in the World cup made me choose them to qualify. Now it looks like it was a bad choice. Especially now that it you will win the point for the Aston Villa - Newcastle game. By the way arallmuus I just realized that for some reason I was assuming 8 games in the Premier League and therefore went with 21-23 goals. I have no idea how I messed that up in my mind.
Don't worry. You were correct about the number of the matches taken into account.
The question is "How many total goals will be scored in all 8 games being played on Thursday?".

Now, to win point from question number 2, you need 19-21 goals in 7 matches. That gives 2.71-3 goals on average.

Ah man, double dumb here lol... Yes, I didn't check the question again and then thought about my answer and how I came up with an average of 2.1 - 2.3. Yeah you are right! Cheesy All good then, I like my answer again. Wink

But it seems that this is not going to be a goal fest in the PL so far. Only 3 goals in 5 games after almost half an hour. Could be 20 or less.
Currently, we just enter in second half of Boxing Day matches with six games and five goals look like we are going to have less than 20 goals all teams are playing cautious games tight defense very few chances we will cross 15 goals in total 8 games as currently going.

Usually I don't go with single goal scorers, but in this case I made an exception. The red card that Aston Villa received may lead to Newcastle scoring a couple of goals in the second half. Or the worst case scenario is waiting for me and Aston Villa scores with one man down...  Angry

20 or less looks more probable right now, but you've got Tottenham still playing and then there is Liverpool, you know with either team could light it up just within a split second, I have feeling that both teams would determine how this one will end.

-----------------

Tottenham losing really doesn't look good for me at the moment, I really still don't understand why Maddison isn't a regular 90 minutes guy in this team.

I also went with 21-23 goals, I actually didn't consider the number games with a general average, instead, I did predict the score of each game and did the addition with I think a 2-goals addition for safer margin. I remember I had a couple of games to end 1-1 and City vs Everton was 2-0 for City in my prediction book.

It would be nice if I can grab this advantage over my opponent who'd gone for 27+
