Hi All,

I have 12 * Saphire RX570 Nitro+ 8GB OC cards split across 2 rigs running Linux and have copied the memory straps, amended the default core and gpu speeds and so the first part is fine as the cards are giving me an average of 24.8Mhs using the config 1281/2150.

However, when it comes to undervolting, I've tried using SRBPolaris to do this by setting the voltage at 850 however after saving the rom and flashing, after a reboot of windows the card is still drawing 147w.  If I then manually undervolt in Trixx by -150 then the draw comes down to 114w which is much more acceptable.

As my rigs are running Linux I need to undervolt via bios mods hence the plea for help as I'm obviously doing something wrong, I just don't know what.

I've read lots of references to having to HEX edit the bios to do this, if this is the only option, can someone point me to an article that will educate me in how to do this (safely) as I thought that either PBE or SRBPolaris were writing the necessary changes to the .rom file and therefore not clear on what the HEX editing will do that these utils are not?

Apologies for the noob questions, this is my first setup and am very eager to learn!

Cheers

To mine ETH you need mostly memory speed. So you have to copy lower memory straps to the higher ones, increase memory speed and lower core speed a bit to reduce power consumption. all this can be made with SBPolaris.
About the 1070, you can mine ETH with it. Check memory brand to see how much you can OC.
I think most people use the 7950 to mine ZEC.
You don't need all that RAM.
Also, be aware of your PSU, because there's a lot of power hungry GPUs there.

Forgot to include my PSU on that list. Sorry.

Hello,

I have 3 RX480s that I've been mining (ETH/SC) w/Claymore in my gaming rig, to give me time to learn the ropes before building dedicated mining rigs. They're all still at defaults, but I'd like to:

  • lower their power use, and
  • see if I can bump their hash rates up.

The cards that I'd like to explore modding the BIOS on are:

  • XFX RX 480 RS 8GB 1288M XXX HS BP (RX-480P836BM/RX-480P8L),
  • PowerColor RED DRAGON RX 480 8GB GDDR5 (AXRX 480 8GBD5-3DHD), and
  • Gigabyte RX 480 WINDFORCE 8GB (GV-RX480WF2-8GD)

I've read through this entire thread. You're welcome to tell me to RTFM again, but I'm not entirely comfortable that I wouldn't brick the cards. I've looked at the default BIOS roms in SRBPolaris, and they're all recognized. Is there a source on these models on what settings ppl have found ideal? Do I just need to experiment, and hopefully not destabilize the rig repeatedly?

Any tips or resources you can point me toward would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. In case other device, etc. stats matter:

  • MSI GTX 1070 X Gaming as my main GPU (gaming),
  • SAPPHIRE Vapor-X HD 7950 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 mining (b/c I haven't gotten rid of it yet).  Smiley
  • MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming motherboard,
  • i7-4770K (3.5 GHz)
  • 32 GB (G.Skill (4 x 8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200 2400MHz TridentX)
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • SK hynix 500GB SSD
  • Barracuda 3TB x6 (RAID5)

Yeah apparently it just doesn't work on Win7  Tongue

I just tried them and the signature check fix doesn't seem to work anymore.

It works, cause all it has to do is remove the little yellow triangles from the system/devices part, and not to allow you control fans/voltage/etc.. Cheesy

tested with new amd drivers with DAG correction. Works on all my rigs.

You can use Afterburner 4.4.0 Beta 16 to control voltage on the dag fix drivers.
If not working, try the latest Trixx.
One of these should work Smiley

Okay, it's no easy feat reading 21 pages of this thread but I find it interesting and probably worth a try.
It's very opportune that I found this after a morning of frustration updating to "AMD blockchain driver" that promises to return Polaris cards to earlier DAG hash rates. I guess all knows that you can't OC/undervolt in Claymore anymore when you updated to this driver, hence my frustration.

I've been using PBE since I started mining 6 weeks ago and just now that I realized that this is a completely different version, well not totally, but it packs more features like default gpu and core clock and voltage offsets.

I will be trying this tomorrow with my Asus Dual OC Rx580 and report back.

Fingers crossed!  Grin

All 3 versions downloaded on mega (3; 2.66; 2.65) contain the virus. My PC regularly extremely lagging on the Internet by ~24+ hours after power-up, but after the program was uninstalled everything went fine.

How did you "install" and "deinstall" program that doesn't have installer and deinstaller?
Did just fact that it sat in some directory made your PC lagging?
Translator made a mistake, I just deleted.
All problems are gone as the program was deleted. Old versions (e.g. 2.2) by the way did not have problems.

Still doesn't make sense...IF it would be virus it would inject some code elsewhere and take control of your PC.
Simply deleting it would do nothing, malicious code would still be there

@baracuda yeah well that did solve my issue for that 1 GPU at least  Grin

@Munhenhos i bought for those GPUs a Server PSU with 2400W i think this should be enough for 6 GPUs or am i wrong?

for now, the only thing left for me to do is to get claymore to work with 6 GPUs in Win10 without the AMD Driver not installing properly. Kudos for the great program doktor83! Smiley

With Regards

I am glad it sorted out for you in the end  Cool

The latest version of SRB PolarisV3 was recognized by Windows Defender to have a Trojan "win32/fuery.B!cl" in the SRBPolaris.exe file. See this image file for details: http://imgur.com/ybJ2Dcm

OP: can you please explain why you are inserting Trojan file in your program?

Admins: please flag this program, as it may contain Trojan files.

Read the thread. And delete your post.
Thanks! Smiley

Just deleted my post. Still having issues with using this tool though, as it asks me to install dot NET 3.5 and I am unable to install it. See my other post for details. Did you have similar issues?

Just a question @doktor83, i have only used the SRBPolaris to flash my cards, but GPU-Z shows me unknown values, is that right?
Any way to fix this?

EDIT: So i fixed it but not with SRB but with PBE, any way to locate the problem at hand from my side?

With Regards

did you patch your drivers?
Make sure your GPU is well feed when you overclock it. Sometimes using sata to 6pins isn't enough. I had this problem on an old build with a corsair 600W. Only had one 6 pins connect and i had to use adapters and they didn't supply enough power.

Should I unlock shadders for rx 460?

yes, ofc. You will get 2MH/s easily. PM me if you need some advice.
