Over 134k wager and my account was not even in top 5000 list. It does not worth to wager for promotions or race, playing regularly and making profit always better, IMHO.
Damn, that's a crazy amount! I think, in any other site you would probably end up in the 500 with that amount of wager! This just shows that Stake has a lot of players and a lot of highrollers who bet insane amounts.
But in fact you are right, just wagering a high amount for a promotion is not always the best way forward.
Considering the 5 days registered accounts wager 100k$ win one baccarat hand, my stats looks tiny

I got 30$ from 1,000,000$ race, wagering almost more than 400,000 USD. My rank for the race around 2500-3000.
Why no bonus claim for "New Years" stake ~ XD.
I'm waiting for the monthly bonus too, hoping to get the first-week new month, just want to see how much I got for the highest claim reward this month.
That is why I don't like races except the 90 minutes Saturday mega race. You have to compete with other participants to get decent prize. Let's see when they release next monthly, excited about it too.
Some smart boys also keep watching new Challenges during stream and it is really "easy money". Like getting $600 just for beating Eddie sounds sweet for average size gamblers.
