i don't see what all the fuss is all about around this coin.
it is just another copy coin, with all the same pump and dump patterns.
but it has bigger hype surrounding it which means bigger pumps and bigger dumps.

it is a scam coin, no innovation and stupid name. there are many hypes around this coin right now which mean the dump about to happen soon, just don't get caught holding these scammers panty

My opinion is Startcoin has not a good name, it seems to borrowed from the Windows-XP StartButton.

Its just not good for the mainstream, and ether for niche markets.
Who is the target audience? I mean tak this example.

Seller: I sell you an object/service for 100 Us-Dollar
Seller: I sell you an object/service for 100 Euro
Seller: I sell you an object/service for 100 Bitcoin
Seller: I sell you an object/service for 100 START

Startcoin is a brilliant name.
Startups, starting out.
many of the commenters are clearly not native English speakers anyway 

There are better examples of worse name.

Ethereum.  "Th" pronunciation is difficult to pronounce by non-english speakers and something so simple may actually put off a lot of people from it.

Counter Party.  60% of the hash in crypto is Chinese and you went with the name that could be construed as being anti-government in China and a lot of countries.  Also evokes images of hipsters fist pumping in the air.

Startcoin "Start" is fine if it's only something used on an  crowd funding platform.  Now if you're saying I can stumble into a Starbucks and the barista will tell me I can pay in "7.42 starts", then you have a valid point on it being a terrible name.

I don't share your opinion that the name of StartCOIN is bad, because it contains the essence of what the coin is for. It's for starting things, funding things, making them valuable. It's not constricted to any particular  topic other than that, unlike many other coins. And again, the technicalities of coin itself is not important. StartCOIN is only important because of the ecosystem around it, and the backing it has.

StartCOIN may or may not get mass adoption, but it has a light-year head start compared with any other coin except maybe Bitcoin. It has now a massive financial-, infrastructure-, PR- and team competence -backing that no other coin can measure up to. I'm StartIng to think that Start will be the Microsoft of crypto. When the ecosystem is built a bit further it will cover the same things as bitcoin does, and a fair bit of things bitcoin does not do.

You sound like your looking at things in a realistic way.
And I learned some stuff from your comments too 

Not trying to kiss ass either I think way back there was stuff we don't agree on
and we are split on some issues such as certain popular coins or distrib methods etc
but we are still apart of the same community as a whole. (I don't expect us all to be on the same page all the time)

One thing that bugs me is StartCoin is a bad name as far as I am concerned. (for the general public not into crypto stuff)
A bad name can and does pigeon hole a currency right from the start.. doomed to failure from the beginning.

But that leads me to my next and last point..
Currency or Stock (Digital Token etc)
You may be able to make some money on this coin or others but is that what you consider a coin a success ?
I think to some of you that is enough.

I find it hard to believe StartCoin or 90% of these other ones are going to get mass public adoption.. ever !
And I think myself with out that the "currency" is a failure (regardless of how much money you made)
Don't forget if a coin got minor adoption such as AUR getting to $14 each on cryptsy way back
then imagine what would happen if one of these coin got adoption on the same scale as the amount of people who use Facebook.
We're talking peanuts and chump change vs making HUGE amounts of money.

In the meantime, while waiting for organised startcoin mine to be funded and set up, Bitcoin Capital will be mining Bitcoin on Iceland, and some of us will use the dividends to buy startcoin.

I seriously doubt that START will be anything more than a mid level coin. They really don't bring anything to the table that's really innovative and it's not a very popular coin.

Winklevoss and others already did come out on a number of alternates.   AppleByte comes to mind and there were others.  Guess what those coins went nowhere.

KG owns at least same number of btc as winklevoss, imagine if they came out like this about an altcoin. you'd all be doing somersalts to buy

Karl Gray bought 100k btc in the early days, he owns million of ltc and other investments, so is fair game to assume he has added substantially to his btc holdings

Max Keiser is one of most prominent financial journalists and presenters in world.
he probably educated and guided a fair chunk of btc users to this very forum from the early days
he too owns it's estimates tens of k of btc

he is also one of the good guys, they both are determined to change the course of politics and finance and the corrupt system, he pretty much dedicates his professional and home life to it.
