The users' funds are untouched in the accounts throughout the verification procedure.
Isn't the way centralized wallets work by sweeping all user deposits every once in a while into a wallet under the company's control? So your reason doesn't make sense, because in fact you never accept the user's verification until they give up.

Typically, it takes a couple of days after providing all the requested details.
Maybe it will be years over time. As for your ToS, it's actually useless, freewallet (by default) is  in randomly-stealconfiscate mode without looking at the violation.

I can’t believe that they’re still trading, absolute rogues. They really do need shutting down!
Totally, people that's not familiar with the issues and scandals that the FreeWallet is on is going to be falling prey to their schemes and I hope that they'll shutdown soon because nothing positive is coming out from this organization and the people involved with them. I hope that more than being shutdown, their syndicate should also be reported to the appropriate authorities and bring them to justice and if I push my hopefulness, the stolen funds to be returned to the people that got their bitcoins and other crypto scammed by this vile entity.

Hello,
Did you encounter any issues with our app?
Does anyone need to risk their funds using your wallet before they know what kind of wallet you are?

In fact, someone in his right mind who's security conscious will even think of making use of a custodial wallet, where someone who doesn't know how I suffer to make my money will have to decide when I will spend the money and whether the money is mine or not.

They will still choose to make use of such a service, unless they don't know the true differences between a custodial and noncustodial wallet.

Any wallet that asks for KYC verification is not fit to be used at all, and what's most fucked up is that this said wallet is hardware, where most people might think they are protected when the reverse is the case.

Hello, so sorry you have this impression about our service.
The users' funds are untouched in the accounts throughout the verification procedure. We would like to highlight that we never intend to take advantage of our users' funds. As for the case resolution speed, it depends on the users' cooperation. Typically, it takes a couple of days after providing all the requested details.

The impression many forum users have of your service is well-earned. As a wallet, you have no right to block peoples' access from their funds. Imagine I buy a real, old-fashioned wallet, put some dollar bills in there, and then the wallet asks me to prove I'm me before I'm allowed to spend the dollars! It's an utterly ridiculous concept that you should be able with-hold funds from people unfortunate enough to make the mistake of downloading your "wallet".

What the hell man, 5.9 BTC? I wish you the best. I'm going to continue reading this thread. Hopefully you're able to get your money back.

Edit looks like this was from 2020, Hopefully he got his money back.

Yes, I am also wondered if I see big amounts that were blocked. But actually some people really store big amounts in crypto.
Elon Musk, the current world's richest man, was also one of their victims, then how about a common user like you or me  Grin
Imagine how much crypto worth he had in there. Check out this Thread - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--5316100

Yeah FreeWallet is literally full of shit. They ONLY responded to Elon Musk and resolved the issue so quickly because it was ELON. If those funds belonged to the average person they would've all been fucked over by FreeWallet's garbage service. It is honestly surprising how that account hasn't been banned yet for scamming millions of dollars from innocent people like OP who've used their garbage website..

Even bigger wallets and exchanges that require KYC verification like Coinbase do not have these many accusations. Can't you just get it?
The scam accusations all over the internet are a sign that you people are just after seizing customer funds and not really safeguarding it. I know of platforms where if one does not agree to carry out KYC verification, they will return your funds to the owner, not just locking it up and keep demanding for documents.

If you are serious about KYC verification or AML, then why don't do demand for it before a customer deposits funds to your wallet? Why do you first trap them to deposits money, and then you start asking for the documents?

Hello,
Did you encounter any issues with our app?

To be honest with you, I would never consider using your app. This is due to the countless horror stories I've heard over the years from your users. It must be a very profitable business model for you to just seize any user's coins you see fit, and then only sometimes release them after the victim has complained very publicly and loudly about the theft.

For people looking for a good multi-coin wallet, I would gladly recommend Trust Wallet for mobile devices and Exodus for desktop. I know there's others but in all my years in crypto I've never had a problem with either one of those.

What a joke. How their website has not been taken down yet by their host is beyond me.

Someone at the top must have directly received some feedback from people quoting any of the many, many scam reports against them that have amassed here over the years. Freewallet.org is truly one of the worst & hardest-to-remove stains on crypto.

Hello, the safety of customers' funds is our top priority.

You're on -14 negative trust with an active scammer tag, and many accusations against you on this board, and you still write that safety of your customers' funds is your top priority?

Hi, unfortunately, people are quick to proclaim this or that service a scam when something goes differently from what they expected.

You can also see that most of these issues were resolved.
Why most of your costumers commonly end up like this?

Selectively scamming people and trap them through KYC verification upon withdrawal?

That's a big shame for your company.

Hello, the safety of customers' funds is our top priority. Therefore, some of our users pass the verification procedure to prevent hacking attempts and require complying with international laws, including those that combat money laundering and other illegal financial activities. Throughout the verification procedure, users' funds remain untouched in complete safety on their accounts.

The time duration varies from case to case. Some might take a couple of days to finish the procedure, and some might take much longer. This thread's author case was resolved in just over two weeks' time.

If you need any assistance with our app, please let us know. We'll be happy to help.

Nothing new on this forum. Am I the only one who had no problems with the Freewallet services?

I saw your post history. And I'm glad to announce that you are another freewallet's shiller account. You will not benefit from this fake review. First Solve all the scam reports against you. Return customer funds, How long will you scam people like this? There have already been many scam reports against you.

Let me tell you, there's a wallet for EOS called Freewallet. And it's pretty free to both register and use, also the are fee-free for the withdrawals. Check it out: https://freewallet.org/eos-wallet

Why do people keep falling for that FREEWallet thing?

I think we need a lot of bloggers or article writers writing that these freewallets are scam and, although this thread alone will shoot up in the search engine, I hope many more of those who got scam will write their own stories in top article site like Medium, Publish0X they should be taken down for good,

Why do people keep falling for that FREEWallet thing?
Many newbies looking for free wallets do not read the TOCs and do not check previous scam accusations against wallet providers that's why they easily fall for fake & scammy free wallets.

They're doing a good job with their marketing. I tried to see what comes out if I search for "free cryptocurrency wallet" and this freewallet.org is always there.

When it comes to money, you can expect everyone will go crazy at some point when the money becomes bigger.  They attempted to scam with just 0.8BTC and then pretend they wanna resolve the issue. This time its $55K, its is big enough that they can create similar project to once again scam more people but as usual they will pretend to resolve this issue til OP gives up.

I've given freewallet the benefit of the doubt for quite a long time... I mean, from an outsider point of view, it did look like most cases eventually got resolved (rather later than sooner).
This being said, i never actually took the time to dig in the terms and conditions untill i've read Harlot's quotes. The combinations of these absurd KYC procedures (which freewallet aparently doesn't want to discuss), the completely random KYC-locks (for which the complete trigger mechanism is "secret"), the inability to resove issues in a timely basis (months rather than days), and the fact that (indeed) most of the victims will never complain on a big medium (like bitcointalk) made me rethink my stance.

Flag supported, these guys really, really, really need to clean up their act. This is not OK...
I'm defenately willing to withdraw my flag support IF they get their act right... The KYC-procedure should be passable by any person that did not kidnap, murder, steal or hack their way into the BTC they hold, and it should be passable in a matter of hours. Requesting absurd information, costly information, taking days to respond will no longer be acceptable.

It is dangerous to use a wallet that has so many bad reports. Their main purpose is to steal people's money, for which they will harass you in different ways by adding new rules every day. This is ridiculous when a wallet wants KYC. Do they think of themselves as banks? Asking kyc is one of their strategies not to return the customer's funds. Because if the customer can't give the documents for any reason, then the whole fund is theirs! What an idea! FREEWallet.org you should be ashamed.

Companies that enforce KYC on customers should be avoided at all costs, these type of companies that ruin the cryptocurrency, Why people are moving to crypto? Simply because you can have full access over your funds without worrying about being monitored 24/7 like the banks do now days looking at what you deposit what you withdraw and all that shit, money laundering shit is an excuse made by the system to control people, and these mfking companies are turning like a bank now ruining this shit, YET people still do the KYC shit SMH.

p.s: If we as a crypto community kept on being silent about this, we will see Bitcoin(people currency) being taken from us without us even noticing, and this is happening for real.

No shame for the freewallet team. They aren't ashamed of walking around this forum with all of the negative tagged they've got. They keep avoiding people's complaints. I don't see them improving their service any time soon because they have been this way since 3 years ago. Reason why I'd advise no one to use their wallet. They have lot of wallet on Playstore and can't provide good service. Maybe a 1 star rating would make them sit tight.

Its quite common in scammers that they will not be interested to giving proper answers and explanations. Specifically this guy have already crossed all limits and not showing minimum urgency to give answers. We can't expect much from an old scammer like them. I don’t know why people still using this service where this platform have enough bad records and continuing same scam game with their platform users. Already their bitcointalk profile have multiple negative trust and active flag with huge support.

Afte having all scam accusations, negative trusts, active flag if anyone make mistake by their own then we can't do nothing but feeling sorry after hearing about another freewallet related scam story.

Step 6:

Provide Links to active profiles in any social network. We understand that on some occasions, this information may require some time to retrieve.

Step 5:

Send a clear closeup photo of an original paper version or an original PDF version of any of the following documents:

-bank card statement;

-excerpt from a household register;

-tax bill or tax return;

-utility bill payment receipt (water/gas/internet/phone and so on).

The document should be addressed to your name and residential address and issued no longer than 3 months ago. Information should be in English. If the documents are in another language, please send a notarized translation.

--snip--

I know it's a (very) little bit offtopic, but still a valid question for freewallet:
Apparently, you force people to get notarized translations for their documents if they're not in English... I recon more people are living in non-english speaking countries than the other way around, so i guess most of the people that get ambushed by your hidden KYC procedure end up having to pay for notarized transations?

We’ve made the process for calculating prices very simple. We take the number of pages and multiple them with $20, then add another $20 per document. The number of words per page has to be under two hundred words. If the page has more than two hundred words, then the rate per word will be $0.12 for the total number of words.

Now you know what is a notarized translation and how much does it cost. And you can rest assured that we sport the lowest rates on the market!

-bank card statement => my bank card statement is at least 3 pages long... 3*20 + 20 = $80

-excerpt from a household register => no idear what this is, no idear where i would get one... Apart from this, at least 1 page... 1*20+20 = $40

-tax bill or tax return => 10 pages in my country... 10*20+20 = $220

-utility bill payment receipt (water/gas/internet/phone and so on). .. At least 4 pages in my country... 4*20+20 = $100

Minimal notarised translation cost => $440

What if the amount of their funds you locked up is smaller than the cost of these translations? You just keep everything? I've got a good idear, stipulate that the notary public has to be a famous person that has appeared in at least 2 dozen films with a rotten tomato score of 8 (or higher), that way you get to keep everything all the time...

What if the documents are in a spouse's name? For example, our phonebill is in my wife's name, but you require documents to be in my name... Do I really need to cancell my phone contract and open a new one in my name before you'll unlock my funds?

By the way, i'm not active on any social media, so i guess i would be screwed anyway if i ever decided to use your service, right?

you are absolutely right in your opinion. All requested documents have nothing to do with this. Has the right to block funds only by court order and not at the request of services. and a request for all sorts of different documents is done only to ensure that verification is impossible and difficult and costly. So that customers eventually abandoned their funds. A freewallet could justify its fraudulent actions with an absurd KYC

I agree with everybody else in this topic: if you're going to force people to do this completely over the top KYC procedure, you should do so BEFORE activating their account and allowing them to fund their wallet... I'm curious if you'd gain 1 single customer if the cost of opening a freewallet account was $440 in notarised translations and a complete and utter surrender of every piece of private information you own

Hello,

Once all requested documents are provided, the procedure won't take long.
Please comply with the tips indicated by the support representative.

I already sent all document to verify my account,  what else information do you need?

Please, answer a question: is there any word about "blocking funds with no reason" in user agreement?

By the way, according to your terms and conditions users doesn’t need to verify accounts to make standard operations in the wallet.
My lawyer got a screenshots of chat with your support, where you claim that is no need to verify identity to deposit, send and exchange coins.

I need to return access to my funds as soon as possible.
By my estimate, I have lost approximately $55,000 because of your actions.

Accordingly, I hereby demand immediate access to my account and the money therein.  In the event that my account is not unlocked soon, I will be compelled to pursue legal action.

Hello,
The 5.4 clause of our terms specifies that. (https://freewallet.org/terms#5)
Please keep up with the requirements of our security dept and you'll be able to complete the verification soon.

Don't you find it strange that all tickets start to be solved only when they don’t post them on the forums? why don’t they dare right away by email? and chat caliper? Imagine how many people suffered from their fraud that did not write anywhere, either on forums or on other sites?
I advise you not to wait but contact the police. I want to get them to RETURN MONEY to EVERYTHING, not just those who post on the forums. Write complaints right away everywhere - on the Google Play App Store and the provider who issued them the domain https://support.namecheap.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit/RenderForm

We are continuously getting new accusations against your platform and sorry to say that you guys didn't feel it necessary to learn from past mistakes. As a result people were suffering from the beginning and now in recent time its a common thing to see new accusation in every week. I am totally surprised after seeing the long list of accusation which were opened against (freewallet.org).

Do you guys want to continue your business with this kinda unprofessional and shady service? In most of the accusation sufferers claim that they face KYC & withdrawal issues on a regular basis where its really a shame for you man. Its good to see that you have already given one by one explanation for most of the accusation but i am really curious to know about your future business plan. Sorry to say that do you guys really love to see new accusations against you and after seeing that come forward to make a solution from your end.

Why most of your costumers commonly end up like this?

Selectively scamming people and trap them through KYC verification upon withdrawal?

That's a big shame for your company.

It's the first time I'm seeing a crypto wallet asking for their client's social media account as part of their KYC verification process. I don't know about you but this feels sketchy af, as literally no government department will be requiring a service to mess around with their citizen's social media accounts for KYC approval it's not identification and verification anymore it's more a violation of privacy for me. Add in the other things they are asking for your KYC documentation it feels like they are more into stealing your identity rather than actually verifying your account. I would really try to avoid this service as I don't see any good on trying this out when other wallets don't have any issued like this.

Hello,

As we can see, the verification procedure has been initiated for your account. Your money is safe.
Please get back to the notification you've received by email and respond to it.
Thank you.
Why must you always lock/suspend people's accounts whenever they try to make an exchange or withdraw and start hiding behind KYC procedures?
If you don't want an account to operate without KYC then why not prompt newly registered users to first verify their accounts  before using them? What's so hard with that?

Asking customers for KYC to open the account would be counter-productive to their business model.  Like suchmoon said, for every customer that complains there are likely to be many who just give up and abandon their funds.  I'm sure freewallet is banking on clients that are lured by the promise of anonymity, then trapped when KYC is required for withdrawal.

I wonder what made you use Freewallet.org among other excellent wallets like Electrum that will never block your funds because all the control is in your hands.

The OP specified his trapped funds are USDT, so electrum wouldn't help.  Nonetheless, there are many reputable exchanges that the OP could have used, but if their reputable, they're going to insist on KYC right from the start.

I wonder what made you use Freewallet.org among other excellent wallets like Electrum that will never block your funds because all the control is in your hands.

I can’t believe that they’re still trading, absolute rogues. They really do need shutting down!

I think most people who get fucked by freewallet's KYC shenanigans don't use it merely as a wallet, they use as an exchange and likely fiat is involved. So electrum probably won't help them and there aren't that many good fiat-to-crypto options. That's how scamshit exchanges like freewallet can keep roping new victims in.

Also keep in mind that for every user who complains there are many others who just give up, especially if the amount is not $55k but closer to $55.

-

i don't understand as well why the OP really did use this site. if you will just search in google, bitcointalk and reddit has several threads discussing about the scam of this freewallet.org. just by seeing those threads, you will be scared of using this site. because if there's a smoke, there's fire. they won't be posting those scam allegations if this site is providing at least fair services.

because as a crypto user, you should do a lil bit of digging before sending any money to an exchange, especially if you are talking about large some of money.

I can’t believe that they’re still trading, absolute rogues. They really do need shutting down!

I wonder what made you use Freewallet.org among other excellent wallets like Electrum that will never block your funds because all the control is in your hands.

Freewallet.org has been scandalous, and they have quite a number of scam accusations here.
Here are examples
- FREEWallet.org SCAM ( Don't use any of their iOS or Android APP)
- Freewallet.org is a fraudster who cheated me out of 15.2BTC
- FREEWallet.org is a SCAM
- Freewallet.org is a scam or they are just never satisfied
- Freewallet makes me stress asking me proof ID and freezing my wallet

And so many more scam accusations that i haven't listed. Their profile has already been flagged and negative tagged in this forum
Try contacting their support or this profile Freewallet and see if you still have luck. Right now you are at their mercy.

Hello,

when I wanted to withdraw my money, the transaction was blocked.

my account has passed all verification, and is blocked for no reason.
