I just wanted to share a piece of advice that I learned early on from Andreas Antonopoulos (if you don't know whom this is, I highly recommend looking up his YouTube page and watching his videos and or reading his book Mastering Bitcoin) never tell anyone how much bitcoin you have.  Andreas use to say it's not our job to teach everyone we know about bitcoin, letting them know we own some "Let that be my job" he would say.

I see so many people that come around here sharing how much bitcoin they own...don't.  Just like any of your finances such as your portfolio or how much your annual salary is..it's no one's business but your own.  Being transparent about these things can be harmful to you in a multitude of ways.  As an advisor this is something I tell my clients all the time.  Your financial info is private and should always remain that way.  I hate these new social media trends where people walk up to strangers on the street and ask things like "how much do you pay in rent" or "how much money do you make a year"...ignore them!

When it comes to money, income and investments, we should always control ourselves by sharing information with others. We need to keep our things confidential and not all of what we have needs to tell to other people, we don't have to explain or teach them how we achieved what we have now. For me, it's a big deal to protect the important information in our lives because we don't know who the real people to us are, we should always think that not everyone we know is our friend. It's true that it's not our job to educate other people when it comes to bitcoin, let those vloggers provide information and that's better for them to learn their own way to avoid spoon-feeding.

Actually How sure we are that those who tries to broadcast how much bitcoin they have are literally having that amount when we knew that this forum is full or story teller/making people.
but the thread stands for the right manner to never tell anyone how much you owned bitcoin or even altcoins not unless they are your family and loveones that needs to learn your funds for the future.
because if not we can be target of those who have been waiting for victims.

A great advice, I do really think in most cases such questions on our street is likely to expose us to potential attack from advance invaders who would likely want to get through us.

As for those who share this level of privacy with the public most times wants to fill special than others or wants to fill wealthier than others.

Many who ask about this stuff at times do it for fun but not minding the potential risk attached to the owner of the information

If someone's bitcoin wallet's privacy about bitcoins is exposed and that bitcoin wallet is connected to a device while traveling on the road or on a long drive, there is a possibility of being attacked by robbers. Moreover, if for some reason an investor gets to know about the wallet in public, then he can be kidnapped and snatched away from the Bitcoin wallet at any time. Moreover, many times if any device is kept in the room then there will be a possibility of that device being stolen. Therefore, an investor's information must always be kept confidential in that it will be protected from fraud.

People have their reasons, but generally speaking you shouldn’t really go out there flexing your wealth at anyone. The very mistake that these nouveau riche crypto bros who got their first big break commit is to flaunt and flex their money without a care in the world or a care for their safety. They are so intoxicated by the money and the esrnings that they’ve accumulated over time, along with the apparent fame you could get cause somehow every bull run we get a new opinionated crypto guru who happened to know everything there is to know about crypto.  When they could’ve settled with being lowley and remaining on a low profile for the sake of your safety and sanity.

Trist me, as time goes ny you will realize that no amount of wealth could top off prime sense of security. Which you wouldn’t get from telling people you have x amount of bitcoins and you could make them as rich as you.

I agree with you that normally when people ask others this question “how much bitcoin do you own”, it’s almost always asked without malcontent. I think people ask me this question most often as they simply are just genuinely curious as well as perhaps they are interested in how much “faith” I actually have in Bitcoin. So I hear ya, but that said I think it’s important to stand your ground and explain “I don’t give out my financial information”.
Really, I agree with you. It is not mandatory to disclose how many assets we have to others and there is absolutely no point in telling people online about it. The threat may increase after we tell someone because no one can be trusted. Money is something sensitive and we know that everyone wants it, even a friend they don't need to be told how much we have.
Yes, because it's confidential and should be treated with the same level of confidentiality as our salary. Disclosing the number of assets we have to other people is not a good idea. Aside from the potential security threat we might face, there is no benefit in bragging about our investments. It's better to keep it to ourselves and remain silent even if others insist on knowing about it.

People asking about your Bitcoin holdings isn't necessarily about disbelief. It's often genuine curiosity fueled by the novelty and rapid rise of crypto. It's like asking someone who owns a vintage car about its value, even if you don't plan on buying one yourself. The misconception that Bitcoin isn't "real money" highlights a lack of understanding about its underlying technology and potential use cases. It's not just about speculation or get-rich-quick schemes. While volatility exists, so does in traditional markets. The key is to approach it with knowledge and a long-term perspective. Focusing solely on how much Bitcoin someone owns misses the bigger picture. The true value lies in the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize various sectors, from finance to supply chain management. It's about innovation and exploring new possibilities.

One of the best feature of hodling Bitcoin is it anonymity and I don't see any reason why I would disclose my asset to anyone probably to impress or brag about my fortune, infact telling people wouldn't add any value to my asset rather it's a danger especially in countries with high rate of crime doing so could lead to kidnappers taking advantage, personally I am an introvert and I have no reason to reveal to anyone my hard earned asset, truly I knew few people who always brag about their physical assets definitely such people if they have huge Bitcoin in their wallet they would definitely reveal their asset just to get respect from other people which is absolutely uncall for.
It will be absolute madness to brag about our Bitcoin portfolio, as currently every body becomes a suspect. The world is now inevitably corrupt with even those we regard as friends, I believe Nakamoto always wanted this anonymity that is the reason he raised everything into a decentralized platform, so everything we do with our funds should remain hidden to friends and some family members.

I think that probably just at that moment they realize that we are talking about personal things, that shouldn't be shared with people. In a certain way I can also understand why some people ask this kind of questions: if you're not into bitcoin probably you don't take it seriously and you struggle to understand that it's money, so it's private.
Sure, if someone is aware about the personal data, he won't share it to other people. Personal data isn't something available for sharing, we must keep it secretly. So if people ask about the number of our Bitcoin, just ignore the question. It is not a proper question to answer, we can suspect there is something wrong with the people. The number of Bitcoin and the amount of money in the bank account, are 2 secret things that should be forbidden to share with other people.

Personal documents should never be shared with anyone. Because personal documents are very important thing. and the thing about Bitcoin is that it carries a person's financial status. And financial matters should never be shared with anyone else. Because only the private key is needed to transfer bitcoins.  So you should never share with anyone how many bitcoins you are holding

Sometimes, people who ask questions like that are just curious about how many Bitcoins we have with the excuse of getting them more excited. However, for some people, this question is quite disturbing. Yes, this is the same as someone asking how much money you have at home, how many assets, and so on. However, when someone asks a question like that, I will not give a direct answer, and only provide motivation for them to start doing business or investing.

Bitcoin is equivalent to money so keeping your financial holdings a secret is definitely something that everyone should do because the world today is a an evil world and you don't what the next person would be thinking or capable of so i wouldn't advice anyone in any situation whatsoever to actually let people know about their financial background, i believe keeping it a secret reduces the eye of people on you because you cant attack what you dont know about.
At present, any financial information must be kept confidential. Otherwise any kind of untoward incident may occur. We envision Bitcoin not just as money, but as an asset of the future. If the information is shared with anyone else, that money will be at risk. Bitcoin digital currency and digital wallet are safe to hold but insecure if there are flaws in its security aspects. Covetousness over other people's property has become a common trend of people. The number of scams has increased so much that there is no room for people to neglect past security. If the bitcoins were held by a third party, I could blame someone else or take legal action, but there is no way to do that as i am the responsible for the security of my own assets.
Yes, there are numerous ways for con artists or anyone wishing to take advantage of you to find a way to obtain what they desire. The worst-case scenario is that they could use your digital wallet's vulnerabilities or hack your account. Therefore, in order to monitor it and be able to detect if someone tried to log in without my permission, I would always allow two-factor authentication on my account. Thus, in my opinion, it is essential that we exercise caution when responding to requests for personal details that are not asked for or inquire about our cryptocurrency activities. We should also be sure to verify the authenticity of anyone wanting access to our funds. I agree with what you're saying that we should not provide our personal information to third parties because we are accountable for security assets.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a must-have security measure, and I support it. I think this basic but formidable barrier is essential to cybersecurity.

Skepticism when asked for personal information is crucial. I always think attentiveness is required. Its wise and necessary to verify requests and credentials for fund access. We must be educated and proactive as caretakers of our digital riches.

Supporting Bitcoin means promoting security knowledge and resilience, not only as a currency or investment. Not be our financial security's weakest link.

You should not tell your wife about your Bitcoin investment because she might leave you at your peril and break up the relationship but you should tell your more deeply related like parents about your investment because at your peril your parents will leave you. won't go Moreover, if you talk about your private matters to your wife, your wife will not be able to protect your privacy because the matter of keeping the privacy between wives is not a secret for long. Therefore, at any moment, your wife will share your private matters with others.
It's okay to tell the wife about our Bitcoin investments. After all, she is our wife, and she should know about our actions. We can tell him not to tell other people we have Bitcoin, even if they are close friends. We choose who needs to know about our Bitcoin investment to avoid bad people who want to harm us. With mutual understanding between you and your wife, we can keep each other's secrets about Bitcoin investments and will not tell other people we don't know.

However, I don't tell people how much bitcoin I have. No one knows that I have invested in Bitcoin, my parents know but not how much I have invested. But taught my wife about Bitcoin. Told my wife not to tell anyone about bitcoin. I have not shared the wallet privacy with anyone, keeping it to myself.

Parents are the most trustworthy people because without them, we would not be able to survive in this world. But if you talk about not trusting your wife, I want to ask you, why did you marry her if you don't trust her? Also, when you get married do you live with your parents or with your wife? Who will take care of your children, who will be by your side when you are sick or in trouble?
It's funny that there are many married people who don't trust their wives, which means they don't trust their own choices and they themselves aren't trustworthy. If investing in bitcoin causes division and creates suspicion between husband and wife, is investing in bitcoin a good thing?

them: "how many bitcoin do you have?"
me: "how much money do you have in your bank account?"
I don't share much to people when it comes to how many bitcoins I have but when I do tell them I'm into bitcoin and they ask me this question, I'm stumped at how to answer the question because I don't want to be rude and dismiss them, I'm the kind of person that wants answers to my questions so I try my best to embody that by doing the same thing when people ask me questions and I might use this as an answer to them but to me this seems a bit too stern and might come off as rude, maybe if they don't take too much offense about it, I'll just explain to them that I'm just asking the same thing. My go to line whenever I'm asked with this is that it's a private thing and it's not really for them to know anyway, luckily all of those people understood what I'm saying.

Why not? You don't trust your wife? instead of hiding this to your wife much better if you educate well regarding bitcoin is so useful for them and how they can earn with it since once she understand about it for sure he would let you do your thing there. Also for sure she support you with all things done.

Also what if there's something bad happen to you? then all of your bitcoins will be lost since no one can locate it. That's why discuss it and make her understand the risk so that he can keep all things in private.

To dumb for people to share any critical information and they will put their life in harm especially if they declare the amount they have, I believe no insane people will do that.
