I see many members talk about the altcoin
I want to share my idea about the good strategy for buying altcoin
I think you must divide your supply into four groups based on the prices
1-Group one ( >100 $)
I think the best coin in this group is Ethereum
2-Group two (10< <100 $)
I believe in this group NEO and Litecoin has a good potential
3-Group three (1< <10 $)
I believe the Gamecredit, Komodo, Waves and OmiseGO coins
4-Group four ( <1$)
here I think DGB, XVG, SC and Burst are good choices
4-Group ...... (Just for fun Smiley)
Reddcoin and Dogecoin
What's your idea my friends?
There are many strategies to use in buying altcoins and if I were to criticize your strategy, I will say that it is a great to use. Dividing your supply into four groups based on price is a good way to diversify your investment. My strategy for buying altcoin is by dividing them on 2 groups according to potential. The first group will be consist of coins that existed long enough in the market and is just stable on a certain price with lots of potentials. Coins with lots of potential in this group is waves and omisego. The second group is consist of coins that are relatively new in the market and have a tremendous potential to go to the moon.

so you categorize the coin according to the price. this is good idea.
for me its doesn't matter how much the price of that coin.
the real matter is you don't know strategy and risk management for buying it.
the win solution is buy a coin whom you already learn about all of the component of that coin.
like the market chart, volume, update to date news from that coin.
if you already dominate all of the point. you already have a strong strategy and make a great chance for take a profit.  Wink

Nice idea, diversifying your investment is good but it is just a normal trader does always. Do you have any other ideas to trade more accurately in altcoins? I am planning to become a trader too

It is true that almost all altcoins have significant price reductions, and I think now is the right time to buy altcoin for short-term investments, and of course before making a coin purchase it is worth researching the coins to buy because the coin will not increase.

This portfolio is a bit ok just that some good coins were left out. My portfolio is like this: hold 40% bitcoin, 10% ethereum, 10% wave and neo, 10% stratis and lisk 10% litecoin and 20% ico projects investment. I do make most of my trading income from ico and most times I am tempted to put in more than 20% of my risk capital. 40% of my risk capital is being hold in bitcoin for security reasons and I do believe that bitcoin is more reliable more than others coins. Many coins are out there that are very good but I do put most of my investment  into the one that I have read the white papers and know that the developers are following the road map of the projects.

I just pick about 5 altcoins that I think have real potential, and are being actively developed by a respected and transparent team and divide my investments between them.
Well if I give my opinion, then better it would be if we do as you said. There must be division of investments and then there are some specific coins for which you have much confidence. Dive in the market with these coins and use your strategies and plans, make something good out of it. This is better choice for everyone, don’t get into complications.

Thanks for sharing your ideas for dividing into different groups. But I don't quite understand how this could guide our trading strategy. They are not only in different groups, but also in different stages. Some are in late stages and already pretty high priced, so it's harder to invest and get good profit, while others are in pretty early stage that we don't know which group it will develop into.

I like the way you divide your Portfolio.
I'll just add PAY in the groupe 3 and BAT / CVC in the groupe 4 Wink

Split into 2 coins and make the rest money as backup maybe better because too many coins means too many risk that we will face, and if we back up we can buy in lower price and then don't need to wait the price back to first price we buy

Diversity is a key! Dividing your portfolio and risks is a great idea. But instead of your third and fourth groups, I would look to some upcoming ICOs

If you are a holder not a trader, you should stick to a plan for greater profit in the future. Buy the cheaper tokens that offer great potential in the coming years like XRP, NEM, ADA and even STR. Buying thousands of these tokens will get you more profit upon holding them for years. This is a better strategy upon diversifying your portfolio.

The strategies I know in buying Altcoins you prefer is when the price of altcoin drops. Then hold your preferable altcoin until its price rise up. When the price increased this is the right time to sell your altcoin.

so i really dont know whether it make any sense to classify like this without thinking of the token amount, we all know dogecoin have a really low price, but if you consider that it has 100 billion amount, then you will know the market cap is much high which means it has little potential im my opinion

The rule for alts is buy really low. I would not buy an alt if it isn't down 30% or more than that.
If you buy high and the price significantly drops, it's a very bad position. It's not like Bitcoin that you now there is a high chance that will recover at some point in the future.

Good distribution scheme but you always need to invest the amount you won't miss and which won't affect your daily life. Research is key when it comes to ICOs.
