Super's tech is great.

The project needs a new wallet, marketing, and a re-brand.

Hi Smoothmold Smiley

Thanks for your honest feedback!

Hopefully BStappleton answered most of your concerns, I would just like to add that we did already contact the old dev's but unfortunately they did not reply at all.

I also agree with BStappleton about the website and the 'owner'.
Supercoin is community driven now, how many coins can really say that? Smiley

supercoin.nl was one of the available domains so we used it.
I prefer a country url over a ".biz" ".xyz" ".today" ".bikes" Cheesy

Our current website supercoin.nl may seem basic but it's a decent site with all of the information needed.
It bundles info that used to be scattered all over the web, bitcointalk, exchanges...
If you would like to see additional info please say so on this board!

The style of the website fits right in with the what we hear a need for here on the board.
A need for a simple, clean, easy-to-read and most of all user-friendly website/image.
That's also what we're going for with the new ann.
It's taking a while to put it up, but since we're all volunteers and enthusiasts I don't think you can hold that against anyone. Smiley

We have set up a BTC wallet which we can use to hire a developer when necessary.
Now all we have to figure out is how to fill it up, so if you have any ideas... do tell! Smiley

First of all we need to build a stronger community that supports Supercoin. People have to know about the technology. We have to listen to the community what where we want Supercoin to go to and build a roadmap. Than we have to hire a dev to accomplish this.

Ok guys. I have managed to get the wallet fully synced but there is another problem because i cant get to my old funds.

I have 2 wallet.dat files stored on a USB stick.

First one is from 2014 and second from 2015.

When i replace the wallet.dat file of 2015 and try to re-open my wallet i get a pop up message "runaway exception...." And the wallet wont open.

When i replace the wallet.dat file of 2014 and try to re-open my wallet first its says loading block index.... and then it says rescanning. But it is rescanning for 1 hour now.

Am i screwed or what?
As far as I know,it takes time to rescan so that is normal.It might take couple of hours as blockchain is quite big and it do rescan every transaction.

Should the drop in the price be a concern for us? Or is it just stabilizing? It is amazing what happened on 17th Smiley
It might fluctuate some up and down with BTC going up or down so no problem.SUPER is doing good stabilizing on some point and increasing slowly and gradually.

Unfortunately, this is beyond my expertise - but as long as you have the original 'wallet.dat's with your funds then you shouldn't have lost anything; there should be some way to recover them. Hopefully someone who understands this side of things will be along to help.

That said, I imagine it would take it quite a while to rescan the whole blockchain looking for transactions relating to that wallet, though. I'm not sure how the process works.

If it hasn't sorted itself after rescanning then I imagine the safest method would be to remove the blockchain files, make sure the wallet.dat you want to recover is in the folder and then resync from the beginning. I did this last week and a full resync took just under three days.

As long as you don't delete or break your original wallet.dats, you should be able to keep on messing about with copies until you recover your coins.

Alright thanks for your help. I have stopped the resync. And i am going to resync it completely using my original wallet.dat. Hopefully it works. I will let you know.

thanks guys for your answers.

I will give my feedback on them when i have more time today.

Another question: i have downloaded the wallet on supercoin.nl, also extract the blockchain snapshot. I have replaced my wallet.dat file in the supercoin folder. Now it says: wallet.1511162266.bak? I dont understand. Is that correct?

Also, my wallet has 0 connections and doesnt sync. What can i do?
Use latest nodes from here for getting active connections.

Code:
https://www.coinexchange.io/network/peers/SUPER
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/super/#!network
https://novaexchange.com/addnodes/SUPER/

Thanks for your answer. I am not very technical. Could you explain me how i can add these nodes?
For making new conf file:
1.Go to the supercoin folder from Appdata>Roming
2.Right click inside the folder and hit New > Text Document
3.Open that text file and copy/paste nodes from above in this format:

addnode=104.136.253.197
addnode=109.100.185.111
addnode=111.248.190.55
addnode=125.69.140.226
addnode=14.177.179.229
addnode=144.76.71.141
addnode=169.149.130.134
addnode=169.149.136.249
addnode=171.213.12.172
addnode=178.66.219.23
addnode=178.66.220.126
addnode=178.85.15.64
addnode=185.170.42.18
addnode=188.2.115.153
addnode=190.196.60.46
addnode=192.119.10.166
addnode=198.200.116.233
addnode=213.127.29.19
addnode=216.221.88.14
addnode=217.175.119.125
addnode=223.134.230.204
addnode=24.155.198.51
addnode=24.45.201.197
addnode=24.45.204.48
addnode=24.78.61.76
addnode=37.122.196.148
addnode=46.98.24.115
addnode=49.2.241.48
addnode=5.13.16.68
addnode=5.13.28.87
addnode=52.157.169.107
addnode=59.124.224.43
addnode=62.235.177.218
addnode=73.35.195.34
addnode=82.19.179.233
addnode=83.31.144.175
addnode=83.85.5.182
addnode=86.82.30.234
addnode=93.115.28.30
addnode=94.62.231.45

4.After that click File > Save As
5.Once the Save As window pops up, type “supercoin.conf” as the file name
6.In save as type choose “All types (*.*)”
7.Click save and you're done.

I'm not sure if mine's up to date or comprehensive, but it works. (If someone wants to give a better set of nodes, I can have them added to the website for ease of access.)

I think it would be good to list these links:
Code:
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/super/#!network
https://www.coinexchange.io/network/peers/SUPER
because they will show latest and active nodes only.

Thanks for your answer. I am not very technical. Could you explain me how i can add these nodes?

In the folder that you put the blockchain files in, there's a file called supercoin.conf. Open this in notepad and you'll see a load of lines starting 'addnode='.

Replace them with the nodes from the pages given above or, if it helps, the ones below from mine conf file:

addnode=109.130.48.0
addnode=111.178.133.27
addnode=111.178.134.16
addnode=144.76.71.141
addnode=213.108.119.84
addnode=216.218.222.12
addnode=217.175.119.125
addnode=217.99.251.90
addnode=223.134.228.169
addnode=62.133.131.28
addnode=78.109.23.1
addnode=78.52.161.146
addnode=78.52.2.204
addnode=79.124.59.202
addnode=80.201.33.182
addnode=81.151.102.61
addnode=81.157.240.153
addnode=81.245.178.242
addnode=82.19.179.233
addnode=86.179.178.93
addnode=86.82.30.234
addnode=93.115.28.30
addnode=95.85.156.245
addnode=129.21.141.5
addnode=129.21.141.74
addnode=129.21.141.94
addnode=178.33.209.212
addnode=82.176.15.155
addnode=83.215.142.159
addnode=86.19.217.186
addnode=86.90.186.27
addnode=115.163.57.140
addnode=52.8.65.121
addnode=213.73.175.99
addnode=81.94.22.135
addnode=86.24.211.9
addnode=46.164.246.204
addnode=79.168.193.22

I'm not sure if mine's up to date or comprehensive, but it works. (If someone wants to give a better set of nodes, I can have them added to the website for ease of access.)

With regards to your wallet, I'm not sure what you've done there but be very careful when removing or deleting the wallet.dat file. If it's a fresh wallet install and you haven't used the address, it's not much of an issue - but if you've transferred coins to that wallet and you delete or break the wallet.dat then you lose the coins. This is the same for just about any coin wallet.

Im not very tech savvy, so I have a few questions: Is Supercoin its own blockchain? What kind of wallets are there availible to store it? Where is the best place to buy some Supercoin? Sorry for the many questions. Hopefully someone gives me some answers!

There's a link to a windows wallet available on the website (supercoin.nl). I'm unaware of any other wallets currently available but I believe thirstygerry is working on a Linux one.

The best place to buy seems to be here:

https://www.coinexchange.io/market/SUPER/BTC

There is another exchange (Nova) but it doesn't look like people use that.

The one thing Supercoin has going for it is the incredible speed and smoothness of the transactions.

I think it shines in the way it handles transactions. The speed is fast enough to be usable for commerce - transactions are quick enough to confirm whilst a user is at a checkout page. The transaction fees are also low enough to make the coin viable for low value transactions. You can't use Bitcoin for that any more, the transaction fees are too high. For this reason, to take advantages of SuperCoin's strengths, I'd like to see plugins to allow SuperCoin to be used as a payment method for the most common shopping carts.

Couple of things:

- Who is in charge of Supercoin now?

No-one. Community members volunteer time and resources if something is required; there is no owner or manager of the coin.

- Will Supercoin be actively developed?

This seems to be a common question but I've yet to understand why. The coin is complete. If the community sees a need for specific development work to be done then a developer could simply be contracted to implement whatever the community decides on.

- Why does supercoin has .nl with the website. That seems very odd. I am dutch myself but that doesnt seem professional. Also sorry to say the website looks unprofessional and cheap.

I imagine it's a bit like when you can't get a good looking girlfriend. You either settle for an ugly one or you buy one from a foreign country. The original one was 'the-node.net' so I consider this one an improvement. The obvious contenders (like .com, .net) were gone. The .nl domain was generously provided by thirstygerry (who you'll see on here) so perhaps he's Dutch. The website is hosted by myself and was thrown together by one of my people. It didn't previously have an active site (the original one was defunct) so, again, I consider this an improvement. If anyone wants to provide a better looking website, they are more than welcome to - I only sorted this one out because I'm community minded and like to help.

Edit: the only way to see this coin could revive i think is with the old dev or people who have been with supercoin for a long time. At this point some people who just put up a new website without any plan / roadmap just seem way off.

A dev to do what and a plan to do what? The coin already works. As far as I can tell, it does exactly what it set out to do; it provides extremely fast, low cost transfers with an optional anonymous transaction method that still appears to be better than any other method I've seen - although I'm no expert. If people have ideas for improvements or new functionality then they can suggest them. If there's enough demand for them then the community can look at hiring a dev to implement specific proposals. Personally, I'd like to see the wallet improved as currently - although it works just fine - it's a bit of a memory hog. Other than that, what development would you like to see?

Good to see some action on the price of Supercoin. I have bought some years ago and this coin had some much potential.

- Who is in charge of Supercoin now?
- Will Supercoin be actively developed?
- Why does supercoin has .nl with the website. That seems very odd. I am dutch myself but that doesnt seem professional. Also sorry to say the website looks unprofessional and cheap.
- If you guys want to revive supercoin please put some decent effort into it, with a great team. Now it just seems like some 17 year old guys trying to revive an old coin.

And this comes from a Supercoin believer! Not trying to FUD just giving my honest opinion

Edit: the only way to see this coin could revive i think is with the old dev or people who have been with supercoin for a long time. At this point some people who just put up a new website without any plan / roadmap just seem way off.

Agree. To stay anywhere near the current price, a good development team would need to be formed, ready to innovate and maintain code.

The one thing Supercoin has going for it is the incredible speed and smoothness of the transactions.
