Clueless!

Summer is heating up and I just would like to know what's your current DC/DC temps of your Titan?

Cubes who are fully working (4 dies) have about 82 degrees celsius (DC/DC) and with less working chips between 42 (1 die) and 70 (3 dies) degrees celsius (DC/DC).

Are there any temp limits?

All of the Titans we have at my datacenter have temps around ~40C sometimes up to 50C.

Do you mean the shown "Temperature" (37celsius-50celsius) from the login status page or the "DC/DC avg temp" (40celsius-82celsius)?

yeah see below ...just saw this post ..he sums up what I ment below but anyway my experiences below for what it is worth

I am assuming after re-reading he means the 1st page on adv knc gui that just shows the cube temps..or I have been very very lucky Smiley

82C is on the high end but obviously they can run at those temps. You'll want to check and replace your thermal paste more frequently as those temps will burn through a lot quicker and will put more work on your hardware. I'd suggest trying a few things to lower those numbers. Literally just buy a $15 box fan and put that on full blast right in front of the intakes on your cubes. That should bring those numbers down slightly (for the cheapest) unless the ambient temp where you are running your Titan is also very hot.  Cool

are you talking the adv page temps? or just the cube temps as an ave on the main page in the www knc gui?

I have on the adv page dies  running at 82c and most at 72 to 75c or some such...they have gone as high as 92c

I was told they could run up to 100c before issues.....

no idea but mine have been running well at around the above 75c or a bit more with the 2 die exceptions above higher  for 9 months w/o issue the 2nd titan I was running it was the owner that said it could run up to 100c w/o a problem (Australian outback) and you can tell the paint on the cubes is faded by heat (flaking off spotted)

not as extreme in my case in basement of house with 24/7 hr exhaust fan drying air thru basement

hmmm...i suppose I could get screen shots but again see no diff in how they run hot/cold or whatever always the same 2 dead dies and same speeds to the 0.1mh
last winter when basement was 60F or so and now at 80F in basement at the high

but yeah..others some clarity...all is well so I never really thought about this much in that highest my bsmt temps have gotten is 88F

go figure ....maybe I'm just lucky and you all will tell me so and I need another fan as a push fan from the other end of the basement for dead air no wind days

What will be the correct price to proceed with in the class action against KnC because you didn't receive your bonus miner (Titan batch 2).

Is it the price of a Neptune WHEN everyone received the information about getting a bonus Neptune?
Is it the price of a Titan batch 2?

1. They probably kept alot of customers because offering a bonus machine. Therefore the fair price should be the value of a Neptune when the offer came?
2. Everyone that changed to a Titan batch 2 did in that case accept that the price of that Titan were lower then the price of a Neptune when the offer came, therefore should it be the price of a Titan batch 2?
3. Another reason and price?

Does anyone know what the prices were for a Neptune when the offer came?
What was the price for a Titan batch 2?

I will ask the lawyers as well.

Are it anyone here that joined the class action of the same reason as I got? What are you gonna try to claim?

Clueless!
1 week now and knc does not sent me repair Titan cube back?Huh?.?

yeah let us know the turn around on that

I've heard from some on here 2 weeks to 2 months

be interesting to know ......

Disregard below:

IF .... your are an "OLD HAND" at Titan tweaks fixes etc you can disregard reading below ...a pretty straightforward fix... ....this is for the 3rd batch guys
or the 'blessed' who have never had a Titan issue..as an aside best to keep this in mind and also make some microSD's as backup should such occur on your
units...no KNC forums etc anymore so....will post it here ..as some hopefully useful advice for folk not as far in the weeds as some of us with Titan drama Smiley

Anyway ... after a storm and a power up and down of the Titan(s) it its nice auto start mode .... I had my 2nd titan (2 cubes to a controller ..there are 6 on my other controller)

just up and die....with the NO CONNECTION on the LCD display..which was new to me...

all was well on all else ...so did a hard power off reboot and the miner would go up to like 9mh then drop to 6mh 4mh 1mh etc
did this a couple times and said ...damn I hope this is the SD card or she finally went to the promised land of 'doorstop mode'
again the other Titan was fine so I knew it was (hopefully not) any other issues on connection..

so I did my usual "panic process' (tm) ..much waving of hands ...jumping up and down....old hand Titan owners know this song and dance routine...... Smiley

I have 2 set aside microSD cards with the current firmware 2.00 on them for just such emergencies...so I can just pop them in for such hopefully 'quick fixes' set aside in their little box.

I powered the unit down and popped the old micro SD and put in new micro SD setup ahead of time with v2.00 firmware etc..again power unit off and make sure you check for static elec issues before touching the board to do so ...ie see if you get a spark off your finger on a discharge on the metal titan cube as a guick check .the unit is powered off and wait about 60 sec after power off...do the static check above and swap out SD and pop the backup in..again ideally pre-made for speed with firmware 2.00 on it already....

..so did so ..ran my backup....tweaked the usual pool settings made sure all were OK and did a restart as directed after backup process file run...again this was as backup asked
restart not a power down yet

er .came up with a 3rd new bad die.....the Titan was messing with my mind on reboot ...got 3 bad dies vs in 2 cube setup vs the usual 2 dead dies with them set to off

ack! much jumping about and cursing ack! Did again the (above) Titan dance to the ASIC gods of despair Smiley Again familiar dance to all the old Titan/Neptune owners on this thread Smiley

then did the usual FULL POWER OFF reboot rather then the restart (yeah I know duh!) which SHOULD clear such up.....and so far always has such issues on more dead dies.

and she came back up all was well ...and fine the last week etc...ALL IS WELL...It was a CORRUPTED SD card from the power outage an reboot from the storm.

I have surge protectors the good ones triplite euro 220 version 1 on each of 3 psu supplies...this is the 3rd time they have probably saved my equipment (from 2013)
....I'd recommend them

I did a bit of over kill I have ONE 220 Electrical 20amp line to its own 220v circuit breaker also ... its only line nothing else on the circuit for EACH of my PSU's with one of these on each line also.....(not an issue in the basement to set it up this way)......but kinda liking the overkill on this with the surge protectors...from the past issues of large storms ..don't ya know Smiley

here is the link ...again I run 1 on each PSU with each PSU having its own 220v line to the box these are 220v euro versions they come with a cord from the unit
to the triplite odd euro plug to the tripplite unit and regular plug on the end to the PSU's on the other end ...but you have to figure out what kind of 220v plug end you wish to use on your line from your electrical box (also on amazon) from the tripp llite euro 220v unit itself to the plug in on your house/wall etc..that is NOT included in the package.

http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-EURO-4-International-Protector/dp/B00006HZ4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435301496&sr=8-1&keywords=tripplite+euro.

yeah a bit spendy...but they have a pretty good warranty on failure if they fail and your equipment gets fried etc...and again has saved my ass at least 3x from what I can tell
since 2013.....so just saying...I assume it was a power out hic up also that messed up the microSD in that this whole process worked....a sign of the ASIC gods that the surge
protectors came thru yet again Smiley

so shudder to think what kinda mess it may have made without the surge protectors.......the micro SD's I use are Sandisk 8gb Class 10's and they are only used 1x new on the Titans
if I have issues they are 'retired' as a catastrophic backup  etc at like 12 bucks with shipping for such on Ebay not an issue (the link i use below is legit on such)....a small price
to pay for redundant micro SD's retired in a box from firmware version 1.15..but still at 12 bucks not that hard to justify

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-2-x-Ultra-SanDisk-8GB-8G-microSDHC-48MB-s-micro-SD-SDHC-C10-UHS-I-16GB-/321104977239

so anyway not much of a fix to those of us that have had Titan issues in the past.. ..and probably a common enough fix after storms and power outage
dumps and reboots... but for the 3rd batch new guys of folks that have had few issues ..my setup/experiences/paranoid setup ..keep me sane and Titan(s) up
methodology

I'd not auto update your WORKING SD assuming such...make some backup micro SD's and always just splurge the 12 bucks and swap them out
if  issues you can always swap back on a reboot (say you forgot a config setting or something that worked previous) you have a re-do rather then
hope the auto update feature works on your 'suspect' maybe microSD currently in the Titan

IT IS A  LOT LESS STRESS to just do the above with a quick switch from your pre-made v2.00 firmware SD backups and
and also backup once in awhile using the KNC backup feature etc also a good plan

last point KNC techs at one time (hopefully they know wtf they are talking about) said the raspberry pi B+ 512mb can be used as a direct
replacement on the board...if the raspberry pi itself is toast (some folk had pi's arrive damaged with their titans) so for 42 bucks including  shipping
having one of these (make sure the pic of what you get matches what you have on the titan also to be sure) anyway having one of these
also helps the peace of mind

you can only prepare for what you can good luck if nothing else make a couple microSD cards with the v2.00 firmware for such issues
as I have had above Smiley

Why litecoin diff

Is going so up??

Did new scyrt miner out?L??L

Everyone is turning on their OLD scrypt miners they turned off the last 2 months and are mining at an electricity loss (for now)
on the hope that because of the LTC halving the price of LTC will go to say 5 or 6 bucks

anyway my guess

The halving date was always known... it ain't big news.. the price already reflects the state of halving.

well could be as you state and also just all other folk that were mining other pow alt crypto and now have surged over to LTC with the price rise...that too is likely

Any custom
Firmware for titans owners

Please
With overcloked options

I had an offer a few weeks ago to send me a Titan so I could make a custom firmware but it never materialized.. In any case if anyone has one they would offer up for the purchase (I can but depending on the price) let me know..

Are you capable of making a firmware for the BBB controller boards to run the Titan miners?

Looking to start a fundraiser for a bounty on bounty source to create an image/firmware for the jupiter/neptune controllers (beagleboard controllers) to operate the Titan miner cubes, which use the rasberry pi B+. This will make it much easier for users to attain a new controller when the Titan controller fails.

https://github.com/xaxax/KNC_Titan_Beagleboard/issues/1

would settle for something simpler first like someone just tweaking and modifying the current Titan Firmware (open source) from beyond v2.00

kinda have to walk before you can run don't ya know..but likely both in conjunction would be the way to go ..some issues with your say the hardware part of your BBB black
project at least the current firmware would be getting upgraded....split efforts software guys play with open source firmware code....hardware guys do hardware
when ready to go both camps know their stuff and could mod the beagle bone firmware etc in the hardware config manner with hopefully better firmware as well then 2.00

just saying as long as we are dreaming the big dream

You may not be understanding what my intentions are. This project is meant specifically for individuals who were shipped faulty Titan controllers or have non functioning Titan controllers. These individuals do not wish to experience a lengthy and stubborn RMA process or search for the holy grail (Titan controllers). The Neptune controllers with the Beagle Board Black are much easier to attain (eBay) than a Titan controller with a Rasberry Pi B+. Additionally, replacing the Rasberry Pi B+ does not work. Being able to buy a functioning Neptune controller on eBay would definitely be a simpler solution. How would tweaking the current Titan firmware help this situation? KNC decided to be cheap with their Titan controller boards (due also to supply) and the performance of the miner shows. The BBB might even be a better performing controller.

ok I take your point although some titan controllers are repairable with a plug and play raspberry pi B+ 512mb as is (or so knc tech staff told me) in case anyone wants to try that

I see your point however

I wish you well...but have not seen any talk of current Titan raspberry Pi software for firmware upgrading..and in that the source is open on git hub and
such ...a lot more Titans would like to upgrade if possible to better then 2.00 firmware and quite frankly there seems no talk on such ..thus more numbers
in that camp then broken controllers  and making a fix for neptune(s) instead but wtf do I know I ordered a Titan (sigh) Sad...ie to put it blunt neither my hope or your hope seems likely ..not enough number to pull either project/hope off..although hoping proven wrong on this post)

hope we get lucky....but I can't get an answer to if I can upgrade the current BFGminer on the Titan from 5.1.0 to 5.2.0 on this thread....and that imho is a simple NO (you idiot) or Yes (you idiot) reply from someone more in the know on this kinda thing

anyway hoping for a surge in both of these endeavors (I too have an old Jupiter would like to see your project work in I have all the needed parts!)

I don't suppose you have tried an alternative on your Titan board ..ie find someone on here electronics wise that could just provide a service of just plain fixing
them? that also might be an option ..but again also long odds imho

good luck sorry about mixing issues but either one could get off the ground it imho would show some momentum I'd hope for both ideas to stair step up on progress
