I've just created a kncminer branch on my github and have imported their most current code and built my first binary for this. It is not a full firmware and the only thing users may note is the hashrate won't lie with this one, as it won't count hardware errors as hashrate. Also my hardware error count is significantly lower with this on the Saturn dev machine I was sent.

Here's a direct link to the binary:
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/kncminer/cgminer

You'll have to ssh into the kncminer and copy and use that file directly. Hopefully the libraries all match between my dev environment and the default kncminer operating system which means the binary should just work if you run it like on any other OS.
I'm still learning linux, but would love to try this...
I'll let someone post a clear procedure before I try... ug.Thank you cklovas!

I'm really glad I got my refund from KNC before shipping date arrived and invested in Colored Easter Egg Batch Producers.
I've seen my babies hatshing for weeks now.   Grin

KNC should have stamped on their rigs, "we ship on time, but it's up to you to make the damn thing work"

Just gonna put this out there, any jupiter or saturn owners want to sell me one of their hashing boards? i have a mercury and want to turn it into a saturn. some quick cash for you! give me a shout!
HAaaaaa....Yeah!...I'm lookin' at my sats, wanting boards now toooooooo! Smiley

Wouldn't it be nice if we could get a couple of reasonably priced (considering delays and loss of BTC waiting for slow shipments) so we could turn Saturns to Jupiters.

Sadly don't see any of that happening, nor do I see Sam compensating people who STILL are waiting for miners.

Like I said before, hitting their FB page will get their attention, and everyone else's who may consider a purchase. An extra module would probably set them about level though, make up for the losses espcially "hosted" units..can't call a pile of components hosted really IMO though.

What's the highest consistent hash rate people have achieved on Mercury/Saturn/Jupiter?

Respond with your model/hash rate/Firmware

Feel free to add commentary on anything else you think boosted your rate

Download PPcoin Client
Install PPcoin client to a windows PC
Run once ppcoin client and quit
If your PC is Windows 7 goto Users/your user name/AppData/Roaming/PPcoin and create ppcoin.conf as follows

rpcuser=anyname
rpcpassword=anypassword
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=your pc ip
rpcport=9902
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1
gen=0

Then restart your ppcoin client and let download the whole block chain.
After that goto your miner and point to
your pc ip:9902
anyname (as above in ppcoin.conf)
anypassword
Restart cgminer, ensure via ssh that is working and hashing and wait
Average block finding time is 4-8 hours for a Saturn (each block equals to 0,41 BTC)

Hello,
I'm getting this message often in cgminer window: Pool 0 not providing work fast enough
And the accepted shares are very low. Could you help please me with that?

You're further along than me.  I couldn't get it hashing.  says invalid url or credentials...

Depressing. Someone looks to buy more boards, while I still haven' got my hosted Saturn in 39xx range deployed. Hope that KnC will pull their act together on Monday. Sad

They owe you some compo for that. That's 2 weeks late now. Ridiculous.

I've seen how this thread got a lot more quiter now, that most people have received their miner, but don't forget there are people still waiting (including me).
2 weeks delay with no compensation + November orders are coming online 2 weeks later instead of the projected 30 days.

And the worst part is that I feel hopeless  Cry

Get a refund instead and try to buy 21 btc if you're new.  you'll own 1/1m of the entire btc economy.

Even if I get a refund I will be 400GBP out of pocket because of the different exchange rate now, than at the time of purchase.
I paid 4,602GBP for a Jupiter back in August and if they refund me I will get back 4398GBP now. Not KNC's fault obviously.

Still I want my miners, because I want to be involved in Bitcoin.

You should definitely get compensated as should anyone who hasn't had a rig yet...they said 3 days last fucking week. It's not a way to treat customers

nice...Id be scared to touch it too, thats great!
on the 2nd pool, I think you can just use putty to do it in cgminer, just remember to save to /config/cgminer.conf, and not the root/default directory. your default pool is pool 0, the backup is 1...

BTW... error rates, 1%, 3%, 3%. wow.

Dumb questions:

1) Did you apply all those hw tricks withe the machine switched on?
2) a part from makes VRM clicks and check the heatsink screws thre's something else to do?

Unreleated to this just wanna share that BB sys load lowered to 1.5 from 1.9 when using bfgminer instead of cgminer (bfgminer compiled fro source doeas not include  dynamic cores enable/disable mechanism committed on the 25)
I'm still confused about this process.  How do you save a file in putty?  I've seen this in other threads on knc.

Also, are we all supposed to solo mine PPC now?  Looks like PPC is slightly more profitable right now.  http://www.wheretomine.com/

hardly enough volume for ppc without crashing it imo

Mine are rock solid now, all night, no flux  Smiley

No flux means all fans off case closed?

I never said I removed the heatsink fans. I would not do that.

The heatsink fans are just as they came stock. Just no case fans, or any others.
open cases, stacked.

Thanks! I also think no fans is too risky but replacing the stock sink fans in boards with high HW in cold environments is not a bad idea. Especially if reported temps don't go much above 60 even if that is not exactly the asic temp

Do tell us how your heat sink fanless system is going in a few days FiatKiller!

Well, my screenshot shows it was at over 3 mill shares already. It is in my unheated basement, so it would be hard to experiment with even higher temps. Nearly free heat for Winter though.  :-D

ElGabo....

By warmer temps, we mean around 60-65, not going from 20 to 30.
Did you go that high?
All mine love 60-70, way better than 35-45. the hw error rate dropped drastically.
We have confirmation they are rated to go all the way to 105, so thats well within norms...
as well as the temp of 28nm asics known to run better as in the article posted earlier...
I'm sure you will see the difference if you tried 60 rather than 30 or 40.
just sayin'.

Now mine runs 551 rock solid between 30-42C with HW rate 3,4%. (if something not broken....)

I've tried up to 55C, no more but it was worse.

What was your HW rate before the drop? I don't know what is the best way... I figured out something what is runing rock solid with good numbers and keep hashing away or loose time and keep playin'...??

I got my miner on the 8th, yesterday was the day when I said ok, I wont play mor it's fine... I played with every day to figure out the best options. (for me it's much more about playing. I'm ok if i got my money back and wont earn a cent more... its my fault i know)

But an other interesting...

I wrote it when I got my miner but it was a lot of pages ago, so I write it here again.

When I got my miner, spent 2 nights to figure out wich pci slot works best with witch card. I don't know it was a firmware issue or something else, but if somebody has a mercury or something, maybe should try to change the slot and let it run for a while. I had musch difference in speed.

Don't stuck with Bitcoin.
Underperformed Saturn 180 GH/s
Bitcoin Mining BTCGuild 0,23 BTC (Daily)
PPcoin Solo mining Found 3 Blocks 3 X 207 PPC = 621 PPC X 0.0020200 (Cryptsy Price) = 1.25442 BTC (Daily)
Terracoin Solo Mining 0,3342 BTC (Daily)
 And without difficulty worries!!!

dunno if I'm using it correctly, this calculator

http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/ppcoin-mining-calculator/?h=500000.00&p=500.00&pc=0&pf=0.00&d=5941288.50405274&r=202.52862206&er=0.00196000&hc=0.00

says me that if I use a jup (circa 500GH/s) to mine PPCoins I'll get 0.67202545 BTC a day at current PPC/BTC exchange rate.

Using the same hashpower mining btc could bring me 0.6432 BTC.

Am I missing something obvious?

Same here. But, if you add your GH for your miner to that calc WITHOUT removing that 1 in the MH field so you get (1401000 MH in my case when it should be 140000MH )  you get what he said. Which looks like he calculated that, made that error multiplying his hashpower by 10 and got a nice result. 10x what the actual result will be. I get same as you do, so we're both missing something but I doubt it's a killing on PPC lol
