I just got my 2 Jups on friday and been hashing ever since @ ~1030 (one goes up to 550 the other varies between 480 and 550)
I got some question some might be able to help me with:

1. How do you check the temp on the miners?
2. How can i see them hashing (in cgminer)? The process is already running but i don't know how to peek inside.
3. Why are there not more kncminers on BTCGuild? i was under the impression that bigger pool is better yet i see more ppl on 50btc

Here are my miner graphs:

1. My understanding is that you can't see the temps (at least in CGminer) due to no sensors or needing a future yet unreleased firmware upgrade.
2. You can use Putty (or something similar) to SSH into the miner.  Once there use the screen -r command to show the CGminer stats screen.
3. No clue.  I'm on bitminter, you think BTCGuild or 50btc is a better choice?

Got my jupiter, opened it up and 2/4 fans fall off so attached them.   Attached all cables and powered up.

It appears to be running but pool doesnt show any info and I can't find it on my network anywhere.   I tried using NMAP which found all my 'other' connected devices but not the miner.

Tried a hard reset then rebooted and now I'm in the same place.  No idea how to check if anything is working properly.

ideas?

HAHA  CRAP!   Comes down to a bad network cable..  swapped it out and BAM!  ridiculous.

I hate that.  Cables rarely go bad so it's usually far down on the troubleshooting checklist for me.

Oddly when I hooked up the miner I didn't see it listed using arp -a or traffic to or from it on wireshark so ended up using a network scanner as well.

I suggest you ask KFC to provide their source modifications

The Colonel will never give up his original recipe
It's hidden in a safe at the back of each and every KFCDiner

Well they follow the theme of figure it out yourself, like all ASIC companies. Mine arrived today without a manual, so after searching I found the manual hidden away in a news post.

https://www.kncminer.com/userfiles/file/manual.pdf

There it says it just acts as dhcp client and takes whatever IP it can get. If you have a router, you should check the DHCP server logs. That's how I found it. From there on it's really easy. Very happy with the miner, it's quiet, cool, faster than advertised and cheap in comparison with the rest.

Hope you can get yours to work

Does anyone who owns a kncminer live near Kano or cklovas, that can work with him for a decent/improved/overclocked..  set of drivers? I'd be willing to donate to kano/cklovas for them to work on this...

it seems to remember then on knc forum or irc  someone (maybe asic-k, but I could be mistaken) offered his mercury to ckolivas for a few day.

definitely a good idea and of course I'm too more than ready to donate.

Where are they located?

regarding Kano I don't know anything

but ckolivas is austrlian and a well known linux kernel developer:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Con_Kolivas

We're both in Australia, but different cities. Kano is in Sydney while I'm in Melbourne. Can't do anything without exclusive access to the hardware, the source to their existing driver and ideally their communication protocol documentation. If any of you have received one of these, I suggest you ask KFC to provide their source modifications to the GPL licensed cgminer source code and they're obliged to provide it within a reasonable timeframe.

Whatever you say about foam + packing peanuts, KNC should be using double or triple walled boxes for $8000 machines - bare minimum and no excuses.

+10

Triple walled boxes (at least double) will make everything SO much better!

So if the  order queue is so sacred,  Why did they give a miner away for free?  When there customers who paid months ago waiting for theirs?   Is there something i missed?

I could be wrong on this, but I think they announced their sponsorship of the Life On Bitcoin couple a few days before they opened the orders.

Plus, the conference was a set date, and they would be fools to miss the PR opportunity. It's just one unit, shouldn't affect the shipping queue in any way, and shuts up a whole load of naysayers in addition to promoting their product.

I would have done the same thing. It's just good business.

Any DAY 2 miners being shipped?
yes
got tracking today for it

Woohoo! Right on Phoenix!

I ended up getting involved with KnC via Group Buy shares for Rounds 5 & 6 in my Miners Cooperative. Our miners just arrived and -Redacted- is busy trying to keep the magic smoke contained *inside* of the box.

Too expensive to host on Kauai, these 2 Jupiters are going to be colocated in Missouri near Google Fiber with bobsag3.
