KNC should make thread where they post announcements and lock it. Its hard to find their posts here

KNCMiner's latest posts

Or, it could be argued that you should make the few-clicks effort to gather them all in one place...

Yea well the one thing that you will quickly find out is that the law does not take into account absurdity. some of the shit that gets taken to court here is absolutely ludicrous. The law simply takes into account the wording of the law.

Given, if your not from the US the laws may be different that does not necessarily make you immune to the laws in the US depending on what treaties / agreements are in place with Sweden. The point is that people will sue over the stupidest things and I would not be surprised if the simple addition of the initials "BFL" (Assuming they trademarked them) could be considered 1. unauthorized use of trademark. and/or 2. printed negative statement resulting in the defamation of character. Now whether BFL would choose to prosecute would be a totally different story....

As such, any quote which is chosen to go on the PCB's will surely will go through KNC's legal council before being sent to the board maker, and shot down immediately if it has even a remote possibility of drawing legal action.

I am from the US, and while it's true people sue over stupid shit, it's also true that many people don't understand the law and are ridiculously paranoid about getting sued over things that people can't actually sue over. Making a joke about a company is not libel or defamation.  And in fact, the only reason it even looks like it has a negative connotation is because everyone hates BFL. If we didn't it would just look like lighthearted fun.

So today I'm thinking about the possibility of my Mercury getting fried from lightening.
http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=145

You are better off spending your money on insurance.  As I posted upthread, no surge protector can handle a (near) direct strike and any decent UL rated one should be fine for distance strike causing damaging overcurrent on the distribution lines.  Most default policies have silly low limits on categories like bullion, computers, electronics, etc.  You will need to ask the insurance company to write a "high value personal property" rider.  Electronics are generally pretty cheap.  I insured $10K in GPU rigs (loss, theft, destruction) for year and it I can't remember the premium but it was under $100.

A good, responsible, choice!

Unless you've ever actually gone through the claim process and without your electronic equipment for the duration thereof. I design and install surge suppression and AC line filtration in my jobs on a weekly basis. Granted, the extent of what's available isn't cost-efficient for the Average Joe's electronics. But these miners aren't for the Average Joe, are they? And downtime is SERIOUS cash for these machines, so, no. Insurance is not a BETTER option, but an ADDITIONAL choice for protection.

No one who designs or sells surge protection/suppression claims it will do even the remotest bit of protecting in the event of a direct, or near-direct lightning strike. Most affected homes and businesses aren't struck directly, obviously.

Message to KNC: thanks for filling this thread with two days of banal one liners and slogans, epic troll sited.

With one post they yanked this thread from the downward spiral it was in and forced it in a different direction. While I personally don't give 2 shits what the slogan inside the miner says, my hat is off to KNC for turning it around. Or would you rather continue to read every Doc Brown offering up his armchair dissertation on the benefits of surge protection or the intricacies of a tape-out process he has never, and will never witness in person?

KNC. Troll indeed.

Or you could combine AYB and BFL bashing:

"BFL: All your bitcoin are belong to us!
KnC:  Ship ASIC for great justice!!! "

Would be awesome but I doubt they can do this for libel liability reasons

Liability for what, hurting Josh's feelings?

If that were a crime, the jails would be overflowing. It's not even libel, it's just a joke.

Coming from some person in a forum, its just a well placed joke. Printed negative connotations from one business entity towards another specific business entity, would most definitely land you a lawsuit here in the states.

Ridiculous. There is nothing illegal about making negative statements about other companies. Look at the forum posts HashFast has made saying KnC is using a huge die and will be inefficient.

The idea that KnC could be successfully sued over it is completely absurd.
