Upgrade protection built in to any purchase with vouchers for up to $2000 off of any Jupiter purchase.

kncminer how does this work? some can get 2000$ and some can get 100$? i find this very tricky. Also could you provide an ETA for Jupiter? Someone who is thinking of investing 7000$ into a product might want to know some kind of ETA. We already have BFL who has posponed their products from Octomber to April-May.

Important question for these guys.

By when do you think your Asic Miner Jupiter will be ready? This will change a whole lot the view about your products here.

If KNCMiner is indeed who they say they are, it sounds like they are trying to gain community trust by delivering an easy to develop FPGA-based device in the short-term while their longer lead time ASIC-based device is being developed. All of you who are comparing their Mars device to a BFL Jalapeno need to instead compare Mars to a BFL FPGA. KNCMiner is only.. 12 months late to the party.

Develop the FPGA, show you guys are semi-serious, sell a few and then get your ASICs out the door ASAP. Don't ask for 'pre-order' money, compete on power efficiency(since you will be 6-12 months compared to your competition) and release news articles with frequent progress updates. Nobody will get pissy if you update about development on a product that they haven't already bought with a 'pre-order'. If you miss a deadline by 3 months it won't piss off the whole community.

Josh Butterfly only :-

5 GH/s Bitcoin Miner
$274.00

25 GH/s Bitcoin Miner
$1,249.00

50 GH/s Bitcoin Miner
$2,499.00

So, I don't really know what they are thinking? Did they do a thorough market survey? Do they ever read our comments? I thought we have a very senior member from this forum that meet up with Johan their CEO, to talk about their project?

Pricing wise they are out.. Avalon has proven themselves with a very reasonable product entry price when they first come out .. we don't know if they are as fast as Avalon in terms of delivery, so for goodness sake please re-price your product, if it were $275 I am in for quite a couple of them like... 10 set for $2,740.

Ya that will be good with 60gh/s --

Sam, Johan you need to Wake up...Wake up ... Smiley

From their FB site, I asked about if they will offer something in between the 6 GH and 250 GH and they said this:

we will have ways of entering the market in the middle of those two boxes in the coming weeks for people who cant afford or justify the larger 250GH/s purchase,

I agreed that for 6gh/s for $2,795 is not worth it, if it is $700 or $800 maybe can consider. But the 250gh/s for 7K is worth it. I hope they keep to that price of $7k or Lower for 250gh/s.

They should might as well just focus on the 250gh/s and get that out in 2 months.. if you take into consideration of avalon chips, is only $6200 plus a couple of hundred for pcb and other parts... all in less than $7k..

If they don't come out with the 250gh/s in two months time .. avalon will be the mining king.

step forward
Mars: Hardware obsolete in three months, expensive. Better buy BFL 5GH,...
Jupiter: Price obsolete in shipping  date: 3.7 Avalon machine batch 1,  4500$ in pre-order mode.

For other hand, seems strange no "medium level" machines,...
Not for me,...

Well ... when I get a 5GH/s BFL Jalapeno in a few days that's listed on the website as $274 and will hopefully start shipping in quantity soon - sorta makes that $2,795 seem rather ridiculous ... and 48 chips to make 6GH/s ? (The Jalapeno will be 1 or 2 chips and are around 30W)

No mention of power consumption of the Mars. It could well be obsolete before it pays for itself.

Definitely agreed.

Best shelf it and focus on the 250GH.

$ 2,795.00 for 6 GH FPGA? Hmmm  Shocked
$ 7,000.00 for 250 GH ASIC(?) seems much better deal...

Yeah I'd wonder who would be interested in that in 2.5 months ....

As for the 250GH/s ... OK now we're into the 6 to 12 months before that's gonna exist ...

Not to mention the BFL version costs less than $300 - and there is proof of working prototype.

https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage/5-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

The 5GH isn't value for money - I suspect it might be a ploy to get miners to buy ASIC instead.
The problem with the 250GH machine? It's an obvious honey trap. Delivery before those other ASICs hits the market is not likely.

Yea, feels kind of silly, taking delivery times into account, to buy mars only to send it back after 2-3 months (unless someone plans to stick with it).

Would you need to send it back as part exchange?  May as well keep it so long as it's making money over the cost of the electricity.

I like the idea of the shipping tonnes of 5GH mars system, to boost the robustness of the network - however BFL has already got 5GH working prototype - so it's a bit neither here nor there.

Would be better to focus on 250GH machine and deliver it quicker.

250 GH/s option sounds good enough, but assuming that difficulty will be much higher by July I guess the 6 GH/s FPGA is only worth if it if you plan on using the voucher for the follow-up system.
