Is there anyone who DIDN'T know this was going to happen?

You've all been told this was going to happen a load of times, you just don't want to hear.

Could I spell it out any more plainly than I did in April?

P.S. Don't forget KNC have said they are hoping to set up 2 more datorhall's, pretty much as soon as they can. So you'd have to assume they are waiting for Neptune to be ready and then they will build them asap. So those who don't think the difficulty will sky-rocket are fooling themselves. And those who get later batch Neptunes are screwed, regardless if you get one or two.

By the looks of it they already started. FU Sam Cole!

2 more 10MW DCs would mean around ~26PH and if they replace the Jup one that would be a total of ~40PH. Yey!

They found 22 blocks today at 25 btc a block * 600usd = $330,000 today * 30 days in a month = $9,900,000 * 12 months/year = $118,800,000. So, no ROI for YOU. For them plenty of ROI.

//edit - numbers were off a bit (looked at 48hr as opposed to 24hr)

we have been ripped and raped again and again by "the most trusted brand in Bitcoin mining"...

Clueless!
i cant even get into the web interface, I get to the user name and password before the interface i type admin admin but it doesnt work, not sure what to type and I have reset my controller

if you really really have to get to the GUI then hard reset is only way to go

The miner is equipped with a hard reset button. This is located next to the power
input on the controller board. To perform a hard reset on the miner you must
press the button 5 times consecutively
,
wait 5 seconds
, and then
press the button a
further 5 times
. Please note that the miner will not restart

from the manual

https://www.kncminer.com/userfiles/file/User_Manual_1.1.pdf

if you just plug the beastie in and it starts up and you use putty to ssh in and all looks good and you get to your pool
and all is well there do like me wait for a power outage before i mess with it again

my pswd on GUI also went poof...got it back but was a pain pushing the button etc (see post above) and just recently
this happened again so all else is ok on my  unit so just have not messed with it yet..miner is otherwise ok and pool ok etc

so just waiting for next brownout storm or whatever power down to mess with it..ssh wise on mine the pool info
did not change only problem (past) and now is getting into GUI ..unit only has 2 months left on it anyway before
end of life

so again...if you can just get it running as per usual asap and putty in ssh to look it over and check your pool
then you can maybe get better info then from OTHERS MORE QUALIFIED THEN ME (where are you guys) on how to approach this last problem with GUI but at least you
will be mining

if you are not mining do what i tried in posts above and manual see what happens power down by pulling plug on reboot
and wait and or do a paper clip power up etc all i know in the first instance this happend to me took me many many tries
to get it work ...so for me not getting into GUI now and all else is fine/correct is not a big deal as long as she be chugging
along ok...again for me an issue to address on a bit of downtime next time i bump the table or a brownout

but by all means get the damn thing up if it is not and just dork with it button pushing away

Searing (to late know one is on to help ..phoenix1969 used to do this every other day on modding his units heh where are you?)

Did you try to reset it with the button?

What changes did you make lately?

Changed a psu? Blown psu?

If the controller does not get supplied by both 5v and 12v voltages, it gets damaged.

ill give a small donation to someone that helps me find this fix

did you check your pool ..does all seem well going to the proper address etc ..and your only problem is to get to the GUI
and get admin/pswd fixed? In other words are you at least 'limping' into the proper (your) address etc and it is mining etc?

Searing (heh my info was so meek i should pay you a donation Smiley

I cannot access my controller, please help me I do not know the username and password and admin admin doesnt work, someone please help

had that problem just kept doing the 5 step reset.with the 1 sec between hits which did not work very well
.i think i just held it down for awhile as well eventually it came up with admin admin working..was repetitive pain in the butt took about 9 tries

i had 1.01 (whatever the latest is) and it reset to that ...later on (for no reason i can determine) my setup comes up as Admin but my pswd does not work
but all else is kosher (slush etc etc to my accnt etc) so have not bothered to mess with it again and look at web GUI all seems well
..but again the 5 hits a sec between each hit i think was flakey finally
i just held it till the blue light came on and then maybe did an extra 5 hits as the manual states..anyway it came up admin/admin and i went from there

was a pain in the butt

sorry all i got good luck

others with better advice?

I noticed as well that the aluminum plate isn't touching all the VRM's with the same pressure.
What is the thickness of the thermal pad between the VMR's and the aluminium plate ? 0.5mm, 1mm or 1.5mm ?
it's possible to replace the thermal pad and put a thicker one.

It's more like 5 mm.  So already thick.

I have no idea how far into 'tweaking' you tolerate but,,,

On previous boards if you overtighten the heatsink it causes the board to bow (curve)
You might put a screw driver on the holddown screws and try adjusting while observing the VRM gap.

One must assume that KnC uses unskilled drunken illeagal aliens for assembly labor and plan accordingly.
If the plate is thick enough to hold a bend, it might be bent to match the curve of the board.

Optimally use seperate hold down for main heatsink and contact VRM heatsink directly on VRM's.
(IE: buy standard heatsink holddown for Intel LGA115x)
(Assumes the hole pattern is still 75mm)

Could also glue copper washers to top of VRM as spacers and remove or thin foam spacers.
(J.B. Weld is common thermally conductive high temp epoxy, else Artic Cool makes a thermal adhesive)
Foam is a shitty heat conductor.

Another easy tweak is to add M3  male x M3 female hex standoff to raise board for better bottom of board cooling.

A plug and pray nightmere, a HW tweakers eye twinkle Smiley

YMMV
Smiley

P.S do not glue VRM directly to heatsink as FrankenHoopiter customers have posted pictures showing the covers are not mechanical stress tolerant except in the down direction.

I like to tweak... that's the fun part of being a Miner (it's not all about ROI, it's a hobby as well or should I say: even more).

I have solved the space between the first VRM and the foam by screwing it down:

By the way: the screw is M5 so the aluminum-plate and heat-foam are even thicker

Is anyone having problems with Neptune's shutting down due to thermal issues or is this yet more FUD being spread by haters and envious ne'er do wells towards KNC ?

Anyone who? Only 1 Neptune is in the wild!

I figured you'd be lurking somewhere nearby RoadStress … you are never late to a KNC FUD party and your merry band 'o gentlemen can not be far behind. Now that we have OKAVNGR and RS in play, where is the raskul when you need him ?

If we want to start discussing bitcoin miners that you could cook breakfast on, lets start with that howler the SP10.

Thanks for the heads up on some of the trolls to watch out for. As a new member and soon-to-be Neptune owner, I have found this to be a "Wild West" forum for someone like myself. Just here looking for some straight info that might be of benefit to me, and to make a few sincere posts of my own Cheesy

So you purchased a Neptune before doing any research or had you been lurking in here as a guest?

So nobody knows a real situation with litecoing hardware from KnC?

Batch 2, October 30th. Expect it no sooner or you will be disappointed

How do you think is it worth dealing with it? Can it be paid off?

So I enabled the cloud hashing option on 2 CA batch Nepture orders that are already "In progress". I guess that was a retarded thing to do?

Yes it was, but you're not alone lots of us did, especially before they added the warining about what they are doing

Good news is they will reverse the decision if you email them.

when did they add the warning?! and what is it about?
