The only concern is it eats too much power, 1kw would be much more desired for home usage

"All,
We would like to inform that  our offices will be closed for Easter. We are closed from friday 17'th April until Tuesday 22nd April.
Thanks
KnCMiner Team"

They wait for your money  Kiss

Funny, Friday is April 18, so message is as confusing as "one month after batch 2".
Friday 18th is a public holiday in Sweden, so they are in fact closing Thursday 17th.

Whether the devious cunts are saying that they are open again on Tuesday 22nd, or closed on Tuesday and open Wednesday is hard to tell.

This is BAD news!

It seems EVERY (pre-order) mining company starts with promising 'all the world' to their early 'investomers', and as soon as production starts, they somehow forget those promises, and change their priorities to: 'maximising shareholder-value' (and no, 'we' are NOT those shareholders!)

And of all mining-companies, KnC seemed the most honorable, up until this last news statement.
Like some have mentioned here before, it appears KnC couldn't ship Jupiters (OR modules for that matter) not because they couldn't get some components, but just to fill their datacenter first.

which brings me to: Kncminer.cn
this company is is the exclusive reseller/distributor for KnCminers in China. (only mentioned a few times in this 1500-page-thread)

Owner(chairman) of KnCminer.cn is Brock Pierce http://www.linkedin.com/in/brockpierce (a well known bitcoin-entrepeneur)

I wouldn't be surprised if he (BP) didn't resell any of those machines, and just started his own mining-farm in China!

Fck it, i'm out!

update:
"Kobayashi* did not refer to an offer made last month by a group of investors, including former child actor-turned entrepreneur Brock Pierce, to take over Mt. Gox. But he said such offers would be taken into consideration."
http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/04/16/bitcoin-mtgox-idUSL3N0N82HQ20140416

Edit: Kobayashi* is not related to a character in the Usual Suspect

and if you look closely, the 'November' boards now on sale seem to be the '8 VRMs dont make any difference' October boards with the shitty GE VRMs even if there are 8 of them....

They can't be bothered to take any new pictures.. they still just throw the old jupiter and saturn pics up as Neptunes

Also, any thoughts on KNC holding back their BTC dumps during this marketing pitch to let the price float up and thus the value of buying mining gear for more interest in these products?

Once they sell out, prepare for crash back to $300 as their dumping resumes

Just got the news update in my inbox. I see they're doing upgrade modules finally. It specifies November batch. Does this mean they won't work in October batch systems?

I believe my Mercury is an October, but I'm not sure. Any easy way to tell? It's been on a shelf mining non stop since November.

Thanks guys.

Even if this works (i got Mercury too) 350USD for 100Ghas ? Too expensive, that looks like sold out of their f`g farm  Undecided

The last news update was the final nail in the coffin. Looks like someone will be moving up 6 Neptunes in the queue.  Smiley

Waiting on my refund.  No way a Neptune will make as much BTC as you can just buy straight up now.

Why on earth would anyone wait half a year to preorder these and get them by the time they are useless when you can order chinese ones that are available now and just as fast for around the same price.  And since you get them now they are actually a significantly better deal.

Ok, still 2100W - Maybe we consume 1800W then on the wall...?
Still announced as "30% reduction in watts per GH" -> Jupiter was? ~1W/GH?
30% of 1W/GH = 0.77W/GH
0.77W/GH / 1800W = under 3TH/s => Ok, we must go down to 0.6W/GH then. That's fine, BUT: That would be a much higher "reduction in watts per GH".
My conclusion to this is: The Neptune will hash at 3TH/s not much more and hopeful not less...

Dear All

It’s been a while since our last communication and this update is overdue and we do apologise for that. In this newsletter we want to update you on 3 important things.Neptune Development Progress, Jupiter sales and our new project - Plan B.

Neptune Development Progress

Over the last few months things have most certainly not stopped here at KnC, and we have made massive progress on our 20nm chip and it will be one of the first 20nm chips to come out to market with the strong support of our partners, TSMC, AST and Alchip. The backend engineering teams have been working 7 days a week around the clock to bring this chip to market as fast as possible. We have of course learnt a lot from our previous 28nm design and with that knowledge we will squeeze even more out of our 20nm chip.

The news we can tell you today is that we have a further reduction in power consumption of around 11% from our initial calculations, which means we can squeeze in even more cores. The core count per package is already over 1000 and with every reduction in power usage we will add in more cores to maximize the performance. This is a great bit of news.

so we must get 3,5 Th/s.    (indeed for 10.000 bucks, to less hash power)  Embarrassed

Well that would be nice but I would be very surprised if they actually did.  And I can't emphasize the "very" enough!  Then I will have doubled my hash from 4THs to 8THs in one week (just got S2 today).
Nice! Good to hear bitmain are shipping on time. Knc could learn a thing or two from them  Cheesy

I think its more tricky wording from them.

Customers will be contacted after 7 days, not that the shipping will start.

They say that "After 7 days from today the exchange will be frozen" and "The products will then be shipped from stock as soon as possible"

So the only question - how long is "as soon as possible"?

If they have these in stock, as they claim, then "as soon as possible" should mean straight away, right?

If it's in stock, then all they need is a UPS label.

I think we'll find out if knc truly had 400 "in stock" if they ship before the end of this week. Or whether they were misleading customers - again - with phoney delivery dates.

Its another dragged out delay tactic, all well planned.

Shipments could be April, May, June.

In the end I think they are grateful that they have somewhere to unload the older equipment, as they upgrade the datacenters to the Neptunes.
That would be pure evil if they did that!
SHIPPING OF THE FRANKENJUP AKA 3TH JUPITER WILL BE AFTER APRIL 20, per kurt from KNC on the knc forum

 Sad Sad Sad Sad

I keep getting the run around from support trying to get the dimensions of the frankenjup boxes. Does anyone know? How can this stuff be in stock if they don't even know the size of what they are shipping?

Hi All

So we have a few updates that we would like to share, some of you may already have seen the updates in our shop so you will have to excuse us if it’s old news. The newsletter contains updates on the following products:

- Titan performance increase
- Mini Titan & Neptune Launch
- Neptune Third Batch
- Upgrade cards
- Jupiter 3TH update
- Neptune power requirements

Titan Performance increase
As we get closer to tape out we are able to provide more of an update, and due to the demand of our product. We are now able to confirm it will indeed be a 28nm process we will be using. This means we are able to confirm that the minimum performance will be 300MH/s for around 800watts of power. This upgrade in performance will of course be given free to all customers. For more details click here

Mini Titan Launch
We have been requested by many to launch a smaller range of products allowing more people to purchase our devices. Well we agree. More people should be able to take part in mining for crypto-currencies so we are again launching a mini version of our future miners. The mini Titans and Neptune’s will ship alongside the full size products and like our previous Saturn and Mercury miners will be based on the same size box as their respective full size models to allow future upgrade modules and flexibility. For more details click here for mini Titan and here for mini Neptune.

Neptune Third Batch
Due to continued demand especially with the continued rising in the bitcoin economy, we have also launched a third batch of Neptune’s with our best ever dollar per hash rate The price for the new box is 5,995 USD, The boxes will ship round 4 weeks after batch two finishes.  For more details click here

Upgrade cards.
We have also released 400 upgrade cards for those of you who wish to still purchase them. They are being shipped from stock and the first boxes have already left with UPS yesterday. Each card is now only 350USD plus shipping. You can order upgrade cards here

Jupiter 3TH
The window for conversions has now closed we have had over 400 conversions which means we are actively trying to fill all of the orders we have but we will contact customers individually if they are too far back in the queue to be converted. The good news is that the shipment for these orders will begin Tuesday next week after the Easter holidays and we expect it to take only a few days to have all boxes shipped out to customers.

Neptune Power Requirements
While we will not release the maximum performance of the Neptune miner we can now release the required power supply to give people time to purchase them. The maximum power draw will be 2100w of power and we recommend this to be either two 1200w power supplies or three 850watt power supplies. This does include a bit of a safety margin on our side and of course underclocking will be possible to reduce the power requirements even more.

Thanks
