Isn't Neptune the miner that Markus wanted to build all along??  It is Sam we should all toast every Oct since he put a firecracker in everyone's ass to ship first and everything else second

But since they say they can't build new controller boards anyway, their hands were tied.. nice that they were upfront about it

I still think Jupiters' power usage is fine since 'the long haul' is finding a really cheap place for electricity anyway.
So why waste all the time and money on 20nm etc blah blah design?

everyone seems to forget math when it comes to this love affair with power usage on this gen's miners
I thought that way briefly too lately but realize that mining is global and it is probably easier to find a cheap place in the world to run the miner than to bother with costly redesign

This!

Once Jupiter design was firm and internal costs perhaps a thou or two (probably even less), why not sell, sell sell? It surely beats the antminer. I cannot get my head around this conundrum. Bad example, but Apple was still selling freaking AppleII (or was it Lisa?) while they were burning midnight oil working on Mac.

HODLing does not apply to preorders?
I guess not. I am trying very hard to give them the benefit of the doubt, but judging by the sentiment here someone (cough...Sam...cough) need to talk to the struggling public soon.

what is the HODL bullshit, is this some new retarded internet meme? god so stupid...

the last batch of neptunes was no refunds?! holy, didnt know that.

KNC used to be very customer friendly, but not anymore. Now you get:
No refunds
No PayPal/Credit cards accepted
No plausible explanations on decisions they make, but just quoting the word "procedures"

I remember back in August when Sam Cole was willing to talk with his customers for hours over the phone, but now he is extremely busy.

I am also very close at refunding my Neptunes...

[/quote

wow everyone is jumping ship. looks like im gonna jump as well. fuckit. ill just get a bunch of ant miners.

@bitcoinorama:
Your customers leaving KNC more and more, asking refunds´.
that is your fault in leaking communication and Status updates as it was in last year!

and asking ppl to hold BTC handy for new Jupiters a month ago and nothing was selled was realy big fault!!!
me personaly and many other customers has missed the chance to order other Hardware(CT/Bitmine) with short lead time!

this all seem arrogance a bit  to much!!!

we are very pissed! maybe we all should refund now?

Think again. $40k gets you 5 TH delivered next week. By the time you get the Neptunes, difficulty will be much higher. 5 TH now is far more profitable than 12 TH several months from now.
5th next week? Who sells them?
25+ Antminers from Bitmain.
https://www.bitmaintech.com/product.htm
3th of Antminers = 5kw (by taking 300watts per Antminer) = 31.654BTC (without shipping) = 25.8k $
3th of Neptunes = 2.5kw = 14.6BTC = 12k $

Two times more $$$ and watts for the same hash-power.

when is that neptune shipping?

Oh you know, in between 1 and 130 days give or take Tongue

You know what will piss me off - if they somehow manage to be late and start shipping in Q3.
Of course I would have requested a refund long before that.

There is a really big difference here. You really can't even get a Neptune for at least another several months so why even compare right now?

All my friends requested refunds also for their Neptunes. In the bunch I think there was like 18 of them. Don't be surprised if you see some go on sale or we hear some news from KNC now. Once they see their very loyal customer base is dumping them out I'm pretty sure we'll eventually hear some thing from them soon. They only have one spokesperson here who isn't a sales person and can't really confirm on anything since all decisions are made by Sam. Only a matter of time we'll hear something. Once you are a millionaire and see possible money that could be yours leaving your bank account it starts to make you worry, no matter how much you have.

Or those of us who stand pat get extra hashing power or some other recompense.

I am hoping that KnC sets up hosting in Iceland or Kansas, provide opportunity to put in our Neptunes and have a reasonable monthly rate. Neptune might become just a bunch of boards covered with Novec in a facility with cheap electricity somewhere. This would allow us to replace old chips with new on site as newer will be developed. In fact, the ideal situation for KnC would be for us just to have certain hashpower and have 5-10% in reserve which they can use to replenish broken units and in the mean time use to hash for themselves. I definitely think something like this could be and should be developed. Do you remember that Jupiter was supposed to be water cooled initially?

The winner in the mining game is the one who as the most power efficient machine (or the one with free electricity).
I know Neptune's will be hashing while Antminer's will be turned off because they use to much electricity.

that is sooo 2 gen's ago...  not sure difficulty will ever level off for this to ever matter...  too much crazy money now

power costs haven't meant anything since Oct and you own KNC hardware so you should know that!

Timing is EVERYTHING, and it may offset that price difference. Who knows... I'm HODL mode w/ my Neptune order. We'll see...

knc sold the last batch with no refunds possible, so that is $12million they have for sure. Some other people will stick it out, because they have the money and it doesn't matter to them. Or they think they have the stronger nerve/smarter than everyone else.

So out of the $44million knc took, even if they have massive refunds, they will probably still have 1/2 of that by the time they ship. That should still cover all their costs.

I imagine any machines they refund are going to some cloud hashing venture.

But yeah, I'm sure they don't like to see millions of $$$ flood out of their account, especially after they have been bragging about how much they pocketed in December Grin
